Review of “Hitch: Pierce Securities”, by Anne Conley

This was a great story! I love Dex and Amber. I give this book a 5 star rating.

The chance to start over in a new town and make a new life for herself is what Amber wanted, she didn’t have any planes to get involved with anyone or have a relationship now. She is good at her job as a police officer, she doesn’t want to have to prove her abilities, and sitting at a desk was not the ideal way to prove she was up to the job.

Dex is still trying to find his way as a civilian in Private Security after retiring from the Police force, after twenty years of service. His brothers in blue treat him like he is a traitor and won’t share any information with him when he is working on a case for Pierce Securities.

They were both working their jobs separately until they kept running into each other while working their cases. Can they work together to take down the man that they are both looking for?

If you like a book with crime, drama, romance, and hot alpha males, this is a great book to read. I look forward to reading more of this series, and hope the wait is short.

Review of “The Wolf’s Bounty: Hinterland Series Book 1”, by K. T. Harding

This book was interesting. I found it to keep me wondering what was going to happen next. It moved at a great pace and pulled me in. It was not what I was expecting when I started to read it. I really enjoyed it and found the characters to be very likable.

Bishop and Raleigh are great together work well together as well as play off each other very well. Dax has me wondering about him. I look forward to reading more of this series to find out what will happen next.

I am interested to find out more about Hinterland and what the connection might be to Raleigh’s home. I give this book a 4.5 star review. I hope to read more soon.

ARC Review of “Another Round of Whiskey”, by S. Moose @InkSlingerPR @S_Moose060912 @author_Kelly

I loved this story. Landon and Ashley have been in love for most of their lives, but Ashley wants to follow her dreams and Landon wants to let her do that. Her dream puts her in the spot light and many miles away from Landon. It’s only supposed to be for one year, however, when he sees something in print that he believes, it ruins everything. She stays away for seven years and finally returns home to follow her real dream, to become Landon’s wife.

Landon’s hurt so bad from her betrayal, can he ever forgive her and give her the second chance she is asking for? Landon’s heart has never stopped loving Ashley, but he doesn’t know if he can forget the past seven years.

Ashley won’t give up on Landon, she knows the truth of what he saw in print, if he had only gone to see her and ask her, she could have saved them both the pain they have been enduring for the past seven years. Ashley has never wandered from her love and commitment to Landon, now she just has to get him to see that and believe her.

The characters in this story, one of the Kelly Elliott’s Wanted Kindle World stories is very well written and shows that love can withstand a lot, but it takes real commitment and forgiveness for two people to find their way back to each other after so many years apart. I think I need to read the other stories in the Wanted Kindle World to see which of the others in Another Round of Whiskey are in them. I enjoyed all of the characters in this book.

ARC Review of “Everest”, by S. L. Scott @GiveMeBooksBlog @slscottauthor

A beautiful read about a billionaire who is fighting to regain his life,  and a young woman who is struggling to make her dreams come true.

Ethan Everest is a self made billionaire who is betrayed by two people that he never suspects. He should have followed his gut feelings when he first met Singer. It would have saved him so much trouble and torment.

Singer Davis is a young woman who moves to New York City to follow her dream of working for a publishing company. She’s in a job that she hates because her dream has not come true yet.

Ethan and Singer meet at a party one night and there is an instant attraction, but then Ethan walks away from her, only to be betrayed. It takes them almost a year to finally get together and figure out that they were meant to be together.

There is love found, suspense, tragedy, and a sense of belonging in this book. I loved that Ethan could make Singer feel like a queen and treated her with the utmost respect. He never belittled her for where she lived or tried to play on her insecurities. He is a true gentleman with a huge heart, but has to hide it until Singer shows him it’s okay to feel. Ms. Scott is such a talented writer and I always enjoy reading her books. I give this book a 5 star rating.

ARC Review of “The Plan: An Off-Limits Romance”, by Ella James @GiveMeBooksBlog @author_ellaj

A second chance romance book that will make you feel good as well. Marley and Gabe married at a young age and it didn’t last. Now they are both back home in Fate, Alabama and living in the same house. It’s ten years later. Neither knew the other was living there. This could be awkward.

Marley returns home after finding out that her mother is terminally ill. She wants a baby but she’s not in a relationship. She decides to set that aside for a while and concentrate on her mother and her life back in Alabama.

Gabe returns home to heal from a broken relationship and getting sober. He is not happy to see Marley moving into the same house he lives in, even if it is in a different section of the house and they won’t be living in the same quarters really.

These characters are both trying to deal with a broken relationship and hurt from those relation ships. Is there still something between them, or did it die years ago? They are both very well developed characters and Marley’s friends add to her character because you see a different side of her when she is with them.

I really enjoyed this story and as usual, Ella James did a great job writing this story. I give this book a 4.5 star rating. I love reading Ella James books, and I look forward to reading more.

ARC Review of “On Her Guard”, by Skyla Madi @Skyla_Madi @GiveMeBooksBlog

A promise to his mother on her death-bed has him retiring from the military, but he has a hard time readjusting to life outside of the service to this country. Ben is a man who has done four top-secret tours in the Middle East, now he has to work a job where he starts at the bottom and fetches coffee. He can’t keep a job now because they are all boring to him now.

You can take the man out of the military, but you cannot take the military out of the man.  When he takes a job as a security guard, he makes a mistake and feels that it is his responsibility to correct it and his military training kicks in.

He has a one night stand with a beautiful young woman, Sera, who sneaks out to hang out with her friends. Then a few days later he meets her father by accident. This meeting could change his life and it can also bring the adrenalin rush back for him, but it could also be as dangerous as his tours in the Middle East.

I enjoyed “On Her Guard” and the suspense and worry about what might happen to Ben if Sera’s father finds out the truth of their relationship. The fact that Sera felt she had to protect Ben, shows that she actually has feelings for him. The characters in this book are well rounded and the heat between them is great.

ARC Review of “Villains and Vodka”, by Alta Hensley @GiveMeBooksBlog @AltaHensley

Two people with a dark past who find each other and find their light. Harley Crow is dangerous, dark, and ruthless, but Marlowe Masters has seen the real Harley. She is a waitress at a mens club and sees him there a lot. She can’t help but be drawn to him, and want him. Harely believes he is the dark man that he portrays, but once he has Marlowe in his clutches his outlook changes.

This is the first book I have read by Alta Hensley, but I have to say that it will not be the last. This book is dark, thrilling, and beautiful all at the same time. I love the way that Harley and Marlowe connect and find their safety net in each other. The characters are well developed and well written in this book. Their pasts are dark, but they still have the ability to love. That’s the beautiful part of this book. The fact that they may be broken, but they are not destroyed completely.

I have to agree with Alta’s disclaimer on this book, “If you don’t like a splash of shock, a dash of taboo, and a heavy dose of sex, then don’t take a sip of this TOP SHELF cocktail”. You will get all of this and more reading “Villains and Vodka”.

Review of “When A Stranger Comes”, by Karen S. Bell @RosieAmber1 #RBRT @KarenSueBell

Quite a different read from what I am used to. I did not expect this book to turn out like it did. I liked the book and hated to put it down. I needed to find out what was going on in the story and try to understand Alexa’s story.

I have to say that in the beginning I wasn’t sure if this was a book I would like or not. The prologue was good, and drew me in, but the first chapter made me question the rest of the book. Wow, was I wrong. After I got through the first page of the first paragraph, I was really drawn in and wanted to hurry up and read the book to find out what was going on.

An author who is writing a trilogy and has just finished the third book in the trilogy when things go awry for her. Alexa’s reality comes into question after she receives a phone call from her copy editor and friend Margaret. Is Alexa dreaming, is she writing a new story, or is this her new reality? Who is real and who is a figment of imagination? These are all questions that were going through my mind while reading this book.

A story full of angst, mind games, and questions of reality. If you enjoy a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, once you get into it, then you really need to read “When A Stranger Comes”. I give this book a 4.5 star review.

Review of “Innocent Lies”, by Chris Collett

Another great book by Chris Collett. I love DI Mariner. His perseverance while working on a case is what gets the results needed to find the person responsible for the crimes he is working to solve. His loner personality works for him at times, but can also work against him. His working relationship with Tony Knox is a little odd at first, but after working their first case together, and living together, they are comfortable with each other and could be considered friends, although neither one of them would admit that.

The disappearance of two very different teenagers brings the station into a lot of turmoil. With an Acting Detective Chief Inspector who wants the job permanently and a prominent families daughter missing and the son of an acquaintance from repeated domestic violence calls missing, DI Mariner really needs a break. Tony Fisk has regained his Detectives shield back, but has to work through his personal life if he wants to enjoy doing this work.

This story had me guessing a lot about what happened and who the culprit was. I was completely taken by surprise to find out who the bad guy was in this story. Great job of keeping the reader guessing and the suspense going in this story. I love a a great story that I cannot figure out who the suspect is right off. I love the challenge of guessing, but I want to be surprised and Chris Collett does that with the twists and turns that she puts in her stories.

I loved this story as much as I did “Deadly Lies”, by Chris Collett. I look forward to more stories about DI Mariner and Tony Knox.

Review of “Thirty Days of Shame”, by Ginger Talbot @HGRomanceDeals

WOW! Great Read!! This is a dark book, but it is written very well. It was an emotional roller coaster to read. I was angry, sad, disgusted, and happy at times through this read. I read “Thirty Days of Pain” first to get an idea of the rest of the story, and both had me hating to put the book down.

Sergei is a damaged young man who’s only thoughts in life are revenge for his pain and treatment as a boy. He wants to make sure that everyone involved pays for the pain and torture that he and his brother and his friends from childhood went through.

Willow is a young woman who is born into a family that makes their money off of others pain. She is a pawn in Sergei’s revenge, until he has her and realizes that she is the only person who can keep the darkness at bay.

Can Willow help Sergei heal? Will Sergei destroy Willow? I will have to wait until January to find out if they will ever be able to be happy. I look forward to reading more of their story. I enjoyed both “Thirty Days of Pain” and “Thirty Days of Shame”, they were great reads.

All of the characters in this story make you want to learn more about them and see how things will work out for them.
