Review of “Thornhill Trilogy 1: Entrance”, by JJ Sorel @HGRomanceDeals @JJ_Sorel

A beautiful Billionaire love story. Aidan Thornhill is a billionaire who likes his privacy, shares his wealth with those who need it most, and is very down to earth. He is in search of a PA to help plan and run the gala’s that he has to raise money for the various charities that he runs to help the needy. His Aunt is his closest confidant and works with him in running his charities.

Clarissa Moone has been contacted by an employment agency to go to an interview for the position. She was just an after thought by the company, but she was very hopeful that she would get the job. Clarissa is an eccentric 21 year old, she has a degree in Art History, and is a caring thoughtful person. She is not a woman to watch the media, or gossip rags about celebrities. So when she goes to the interview, she is not aware of who the man is that she will be working for, until she gets home and talks with her roommate and best friend since childhood, Tabitha, who knows about everyone.

I loved this story and the characters really drew me in. I love Aidan and Clarissa, but Greta and Julian add so much to this story as well. They are the people who help to make Aidan and Clarissa who they are as adults. They care for them and they are very much a part of their lives.

I look forward to reading more of the Thornhill Trilogy in the coming year. JJ Sorel is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more of her stories.

ARC Review of “Hiding”, by Jenny Morton Potts #RBRT @jmortonpotts @rosieamber1

A different read for me, with a different twist at the end. Not what I expected at all.

Keller is looking to get pay back for his father’s sentencing after a heist gone wrong with the murder of an ex judge. He wants retribution for his father taking the fall for the disaster that occurred that day in NC.

Rebecca wants answers as to where her parents are and what happened to them. When she begins to dig around in old newspapers she only ends up with more questions.

This book goes back and forth between years with the history of what happened and present day. The story is well written and the back and forth between the years is done well.

This thriller will keep you hoping for the best for both of these young people who are thrown into this predicament because of their parents. This story shows that things aren’t always as they seem and that we may not always have the power to make our lives out to be what we hope for. I give this story a 4.5 star review. Although, the end left me with more questions than answers.

ARC Review of “Lucifer: Fire From Heaven – Book 1”, by Ava Martell @HGRomanceDeals @msavamartell

Heaven and Hell are fighting again, but this time it’s over a woman. There may be more to what you thought you knew about Jesus and his birth.

Lucifer’s life could be changed forever. Bored and tired of sitting around waiting for things to happen, Lucifer decides to go top side to see what is going on. His enrollment is down and needs to find out what has happened on Earth to change this. He believes that his brother Michael is behind it, but he is in for quite a surprise on Earth.

Grace is a young woman working at a dive bar trying to pay her bills and keep her head above water. She is lonely and misses her parents who died in a car accident when she was 16 years old. She feels like she is being followed and watched, someone has been in her home while she was sleeping and she isn’t quite sure what to do or why someone would be following her.

Lucifer and Grace have a chance meeting and after talking a little bit they find out that they have a common “friend”. Grace has spoken to a woman that her mother used to visit often to get herbs. Lucifer had a chance run in with the same woman. Lucifer sees her as a profit, but Grace sees her as friend of her mothers, and goes to her for some help with the person following her. When Grace sees Lucifer for a second time, and tells him what is happening and what the woman told her, he knows exactly who and what she is. He also feels that it is his duty to protect her.

This was a great story and I really liked the way it was written. The tension between the Angels and their battles was well done. I liked that Grace was not a damsel in distress, although she had no idea of who she was in the beginning, her realization and the power that she finds inside herself was great. I give this a 5 star review.

Review of “Not What you Seem”, by Lena Maye @HGRomanceDeals @LenaRMaye

Wow, what a story. This was a great story of two star crossed lovers. A young man and woman whose lives are intertwined by an awful event involving their parents when these two were very young. They used to play together as young children, but then they moved away from the little town they lived in, only to return as young adults and meet again.

Dean is happiest on the water sailing. It’s his escape from everything and gives him control in his life. When his father becomes ill and no longer able to run the charter service that has been in Dean’s mothers family for years, Dean returns to Portage Bay, Maine. He has decided to take over the charter business and has asked his twin brother to return and help him. The pain of his childhood and his fathers abuse when they were children causes a dark cloud over their lives and they aren’t sure they can stay and run the business.

Ella is a young woman who had a rough childhood as well, because of her mother, but now she lives with her father and step-mother, and helps to run the family bakery. She keeps to herself and tries to avoid the towns people. She feels that they all look at her with distrust and disgust because of her mother.

When these two see each other for the first time as adults it’s like their lives have taken a turn. Ella remembers Dean, but it takes him a little bit to remember her. This story was well written and the situations covered in this story were very well done. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by Lena Maye.

Review of “Love Waltzes In”, by Alana Albertson @HGRomanceDeals @AlanaAlbertson

What a great read! I loved this book. This is not your typical Second Chance Romance or Military Love Story. It was better.

Selina Marcil has her sights set on continuing to hold the United States Professional Latin-American Title in dance, and she is a Professional dancer on the Dancing Under the Stars show. Her dance partner for competition was her teacher when she was a teen. He is the best and can help her get to the top and remain there, if they continue their partnership.

Staff Sergeant Bret Lord is in the Marines. He was Selina’s dance partner when they were young. He was also her first love and her fiancé. He has been asked by Dancing Under the Stars, to come on for a season as a Professional dancer. The only reason he agrees is so that he can fulfill his promise to a friend who died in the line of service. He promised to take care of his family. He wants to win so that he can fulfill that promise.

Bret and Selina’s past could be a problem for them. They have to spend a lot of time together for fifteen weeks to do the show. Will they be able to get past the hurt from their split? Will Bret ever be able to forgive Selina for breaking off their engagement through a letter? The passion and love are still there, perhaps things can work out for them.

If you like second chance romance and Military love stories, this is a great book to read. Add in the dancing and competition and you have a very good story. I loved the competition between the dancers, but also the camaraderie that they had as a group. They worked together, but they also competed against each other in various facets. For me that brought more to the story.

ARC Review of “Beware the Past”, by Joy Ellis

“A gripping crime thriller full of stunning twist”, a quote on the front of the book, and it’s so very true! This book was full of twists and suspense. It was a great read, and I wanted to keep reading it, but I also wanted to finish it to find out the end. It was a well written crime thriller that kept the pages turning and kept me on the edge throughout the whole book. I loved it!

A horrific crime over 20 years old comes back to haunt DCI Matt Ballard. He was hoping to solve it years ago, but he had no luck. Now someone is trying to make him question whether the real killer is still alive, or if he’s actually dead. DCI Ballard is getting ready to retire and is hoping for a smooth retirement, but someone else has other ideas. He is planning to work on this crime after he retires so that he can solve it. It’s one of those cases that he could never let go of. His whole team is in danger, but he isn’t sure who is out to get him and why they have to bring in his whole team to make their point.

If you love a book with suspense, twists, and a great detective story, then you will want to read this book. It has all of that and more. I give this book a 5 star review.

ARC Review of “Ruin Me: Vegas Nights”, by Bella Love-Wins and Shiloh Walker @HGRomanceDeals @BellaLoveWins @shilohwalker

Great read! I loved this book and hated to put it down to work, sleep, eat, do life, or for it to end. It was such a great read and the story of Mac and Angel was a beautiful story.

Mac, a scarred man, who comes from a wealthy family, and keeps everyone at a distance because if anyone gets too close they will just leave him. He had a terrible childhood, and he doesn’t know how to let anyone love him now, nor does he know how to love anymore. He finds his way back to life when he meets Angel and spends one very hot night with her, which ends with a life time of love from a woman who doesn’t take any shit from him.

Angel, a young woman who comes from a wealthy family, lives near Niagara Fall, Ontario. Visiting Las Vegas before moving to Mexico to work for two years, she meets Mac in the bar of the hotel she is staying in, which also happens to be the hotel that Mac and his two partners owns. He saves her from a persistent man who can’t take the hint that she is not interested in him.

This is the first Vegas Nights book that I’ve read, but I will go back and read the first one to get all of LeVan’s story.

This was a story with some dark parts, but it still made me feel good to read it.

ARC Review of “Heart of a Cowboy”, by Kristin Vayden @KristinVayden @givemebooksblog

Beautiful story! This story had all of the feels. I cried, laughed, and got angry throughout this story. It was a beautiful story of a family going through a tragedy, but regaining their family in the process.

Jack is a rough rancher who made some bad choices when he was younger and hurt his son and his wife, and lost their love in the process. He is terminally ill and wants to make amends with his son before he dies. Cyler, Jack’s grown son, hates his father with his entire soul. When Cyler gets a phone call from his father telling him that he is terminally ill, he only wants to go home to give him grief and make him suffer before he dies.

Laken is Jack’s palliative care nurse, she is young, but very experienced in palliative care. She is a strong woman who can handle a strong willed and grumpy man. Jack has met his match in Laken.

The story is very well written, the characters are all very strong, loving people, and the plot is not predictable. I loved this story, and give it a 5 star review.

If you enjoy a story with strong heros and heroines, and all the feels, in it, then this is a great story to pick up and read. I hated to put it down, and I didn’t want it to end. The pages turned very easily, and too quickly.

Review of “The Last Flight”, by Jen Talty @HGRomanceDeals @JenTalty

A test pilot needs help to find out who is making his test flights more dangerous than they should be. Help comes in the shape of a beautiful woman who works with his brothers and was a test pilot herself.

Ramey Sarich likes to push the limits, but when his job is made more dangerous by someone sabotaging the planes he is test driving, he asks to have an independent review of the planes and the flights done. His brothers work for an independent company that can send someone to do the review and hopefully get the answers he is in need of to save his life.

Tequila Ryder, a woman who knows her way around flying and testing planes for the military. She’s the one who was sent to do the review of Ramey’s flights that ended with less than ideal landings. A sassy mouth and an attitude will keep Ramey on his toes. Will she find more than she is planning on?

Ramey and Tequila have an instant heat when they first lay eyes on each other. Can they work together to find out what is going on without letting the heat get in the way? I love Ramey’s reaction to Tequila’s name.

I loved this book, the heat between these two, and the way that they both connected right off. It’s always great when you find the person who gets you and understands your fears, and your way of life. It’s even better when they fit in without trying too hard. These two have that and more. This is my first time reading a Jen Talty book, but it will not be my last. Her writing is great, and the story keeps you interested through the entire book. The hero and heroine in this story are both hot and sarcastic. I loved them both. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Talty’s books.

Review of ARC “It’s Complicated”, by Missy Johnson @GiveMeBooksBlog

Nick is a man who is finally trying to get back into the dating scene after his wife died two years ago. He has had a few dates, but the women he has dated are only interested in one thing. He is looking for something more long term so that his two young children can have a mother figure in their lives again.

She hears the rumors about Nick’s package and she wants to know if they are true. Her father pushes her to go over and help him out with the kids daily and help him with his house as well. She isn’t so sure it’s a good idea, but her father tells her she needs to quit studying so much, so she agrees.

When her father finds out that she is helping Nick out more than he was expecting, he gets very angry with them both.

I enjoyed this book and was pulling for Nick and Anna. the characters are likable and fun to get to know. I give this book a 4.5 star rating.
