ARC Review of “Beware the Past”, by Joy Ellis

“A gripping crime thriller full of stunning twist”, a quote on the front of the book, and it’s so very true! This book was full of twists and suspense. It was a great read, and I wanted to keep reading it, but I also wanted to finish it to find out the end. It was a well written crime thriller that kept the pages turning and kept me on the edge throughout the whole book. I loved it!

A horrific crime over 20 years old comes back to haunt DCI Matt Ballard. He was hoping to solve it years ago, but he had no luck. Now someone is trying to make him question whether the real killer is still alive, or if he’s actually dead. DCI Ballard is getting ready to retire and is hoping for a smooth retirement, but someone else has other ideas. He is planning to work on this crime after he retires so that he can solve it. It’s one of those cases that he could never let go of. His whole team is in danger, but he isn’t sure who is out to get him and why they have to bring in his whole team to make their point.

If you love a book with suspense, twists, and a great detective story, then you will want to read this book. It has all of that and more. I give this book a 5 star review.
