My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Didn’t Expect You by Claudia Burgoa @LWoodsPR @Author_ClaudiaB

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He is determined to protect his twin and if that means that he has to spend some time with Ford’s girlfriend’s sister then he will do it. However, Nick will also have to fight his desire to flirt with her and try to get her into his bed. Nick doesn’t want to ruin the one relationship his brother Langford “Ford” has ever had, and he knows that Ford will be angry with him if he treated Nyx badly.

Nyx is a woman that has had a unique childhood. With parents that traveled a lot while their kids were young and taught them in the field while they were on a dig somewhere in the world, rather than send them to a conventional school, Nyx lacked the structure and safety of a home and more belongings than would fit in a backpack. She needs to be in control of her life and have safety and security, so her siblings think she’s boring.

Nyx is a lawyer working for a firm that does not appreciate her. She also works for her sister and brother, and they appreciate her, but they don’t pay her. She seems to be the level-headed child of the family and finds her world in upheaval when she makes one mistake while out of town working. Now her life has taken a complete turn and she’s lost, confused, and so scared. Nick wants to help her out and be there for her, but she is determined to stay on track and keep herself going. She doesn’t want to ask for help from anyone and the rich playboy is definitely not an option. I loved this story, the uncertainty that goes through Nyx’s mind constantly is something a lot of women feel, especially if they feel that they need to maintain constant control of their lives and survive on their own. It’s hard to relinquish our lives to someone when we are used to navigating alone. The push and pull between these two was entertaining and fun to read. The way that they became friends and then their friendship worked into more was great to read. I give this story a 5-star review and want to read more of Ms. Burgoa’s books.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Nero Gallo is the wild child, the danger seeker, the one to go off the rails and not think about consequences or anyone else around him. He’s not the good guy, the thoughtful one, or the caring one. He lives life by his own rules and has no regrets about it. He is smart though and he’s a planner. He is also loyal to his family.

Camille Rivera has always been the outcast. She was never the girly one. Her family worked for everything they have and worked hard. She’s a mechanic at her father’s garage and she knows her way around a car engine. She’s protective of her little brother and her father. She has dreams, but they are so far packed away that she doesn’t even know what they are anymore. When she finds herself in a bad situation after trying to rescue her little brother from himself and his friends, she only has one person she can turn to and she hates to ask for help.

Nero and Camille are perfect for each other. Neither one of them live the norm of society. Nero is the rich boy that takes what he wants with no thought to the consequences or very little thought to them, and Camille lives by the rules of society, but she is a female mechanic that can even show Nero a thing or two about cars and he takes pride in his collection and the work he does on his own cars. The danger these two find themselves in leads to an attraction neither one of them saw coming. However, once they figure it out, they are loyal to each other and will do whatever it takes to protect the other. I love Sophie Lark’s books and Nero was everything I had hoped for and more. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Brutal Birthright Books.

Monsters don’t often look like monsters on the outside.

Forced to marry a man I should hate, I’m now bound to Damian.

I sometimes wonder what he sees when he looks at me. Deer in headlights, I guess.

What I see is clear.

Darkness.
Desire.
Carnal want.

A man with too much experience.

The night he took me he told me I belong to him. He proved it on our wedding night. And I believe him when he says he’ll keep me safe. He won’t let anyone touch what’s his.

But I can’t forget what he is. Can’t forget the things he’s done.

And no matter what, I can’t let myself fall in love with him.

Excerpt

“Welcome home, Brother.”
I look up at Damian. Beautiful Damian.
He shifts his gaze to mine.
“Didn’t I tell you to leave the locked doors alone?” he asks me, but his voice is strange. Echoing in this dusty, forgotten place.
The music starts again. That eerie sound of piano keys played slowly, so fitting to this place, this room, this house.
My head is spinning.
The other man, Damian’s brother, says something. His voice is similar to Damian’s but off. Like his face. Wrong.
Damian tucks hair behind my ear.
I push his hand away, push his arms away. I turn slowly. They’re both watching me now, waiting to see what I’ll do.
And the tune keeps playing, the chords slow. Sad.
I need to look at him.
Can they hear my heartbeat? Blood beats like a drum against my ears.
Run.
Run.
But I can’t run. I meet a monster at every turn. One standing behind me. The other holding me.
He warned me about the monsters. How many more hide in this house?
“Cristina,” Damian says.
I keep turning, my body still pressed to Damian’s.
I’ve taken shelter in my enemy’s arms.
He’s in my periphery now. The monster. The brother. Tall, like Damian. I see the coat. It’s wet. He was the man walking back toward the house. It wasn’t Damian at all. What is out there that they go to see in the dead of night?

USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance, Natasha Knight specializes in dark, tortured heroes. Happily-Ever-Afters are almost always guaranteed, but she likes to put her characters through hell to get them there. She’s evil like that.

Author Links

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Cristina isn’t sure who she can trust or who will harm her. She wants to take solace in Damian, but she’s not sure if she can trust him or believe he is trying to protect her. There are so many things happening and she is afraid to believe Damian, but when she finds herself in danger more than once, Damian is always there to protect her and save her.

Damian has to convince Cristina that he is the better of two evils in the house. He may seem cruel, but he is only trying to protect her and keep her from harm. He’s fighting the draw he has to her and trying to keep the fact that she is his weakness from getting out. His most ruthless enemy knows though and is already planning to use her.

I enjoyed this conclusion to Cristina and Damian’s story. It is dark, twisted, and full of suspense and danger. Cristina has been a pawn since she was eleven years old. The heir to The Valentina Foundation, but she has no idea the trouble the Foundation is in due to her father’s dirty dealings and now Damian wants to take control of it for her. She will be the name on the contracts, but Damian will run the company to protect Cristina so that the wolves that are part of the Foundation won’t try to hurt her. The DiSanto family is divided and they are fighting amongst themselves. The suspense, action, betrayal and darkness of this story kept the pages turning and I loved every bit of it. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more books by Natasha Knight. I love her dark stories and loved to devour them.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Fallen: Men of Mayhem Book 4 by Kristen Luciani @kristen_luciani

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He’s the oldest of the family and the one that has taken a lot of burdens onto his shoulders to guide and protect his brothers and sister. He also has secrets that he has not shared with his family and they are holding him back. Vincenzo Marcone made a mistake in trusting the wrong person and now he has to figure out how to protect his family and their business. His business partner has notified him of a threat against his family. While they are talking, his business partner asks him for help with a threat against his family and this one could be more dangerous to both families.

She found out what her father’s business is and has taken a stand to destroy it and save as many women as she can. Even if it means that it puts her in more danger. The trouble is that Aria Lovric didn’t expect that her father would be able to find her and her mother so soon. Now she’s fighting for her life and can trust on one. She’s also dealing with the fact that her actions caused the situation and put her mother in the cross hairs with her. When she asks for help and is denied, she decides to find her uncle on her own and destroy him. The only problem is that she’s putting her life in danger and he can’t let that happen.

I love this series; The Men of Mayhem and Vincenzo’s story was just as great as the others in the series. The Marcone men are very Alpha, dangerous and sexy. They are loyal to family and will stop at nothing to protect their loved ones. This includes the Severinov family as well since they are aligned now. It is great to see these two families working together to protect and keep their powerful families on top of their worlds. They have some dark secrets, and they are still reeling from the death of their father, but they are a family and will do anything for each other, even kick each other’s backsides when it’s warranted. These books are dark and entertaining. The family banter is fun to read, and I love that this family may argue about things, but at the end of the day they are loyal to each other and love each other. I give this story a 5-star review and am looking forward to more from Ms. Luciani.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Jett’s Guard: Bastards and Badges, Book 3 by Andi Rhodes

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Jett’s going under cover to help Jackson and Slade get information on Jeffrey Lee. Hopefully they can find out who he works with and maybe get some leads on who else is involved in the human trafficking that he and his family ran, and hopefully where the women are being housed so they can save some of them at least. He’s DEA and normally wouldn’t be involved in this kind of case, but because he worked with Jackson, Slade and the FBI previously to put Jeffrey Lee’s father away, he is familiar with the case. The undercover stint will bring out a lot of demons for Jett and will also cause new ones. One being the female guard, Emma that he rescues during a prison riot two years into the undercover case.

Emma has always been a woman to live on the edge and pretty fearless. She is guard in a male prison and shows the inmates more respect than most of the guards do. She tries to treat them as humans rather than animals in a cage. One incident will change her, and she will become a woman afraid of everything. The trauma she goes through will stay with her and prevent her from living her life and only surviving. Her family is even afraid of upsetting her and treat her differently. When a new neighbor moves in and she starts noticing that he is doing small things to help her out, she is intrigued and when she recognizes him her world takes a turn again, but this time for the better, kind of.

I have loved the Broken Rebel Brotherhood MC Series and Jackson was a character that started this spin off into the Bastards and Badges Series, and I have loved this series just as much. The characters are great, the men are possessive, protective, and love fiercely. They want to protect their women with everything they have and if they don’t succeed, they beat themselves up about it. They do always get their women back and save them, but the time between when they lost them and then found them again is pure torture for them. These stories are action packed from the beginning to the end, the books are hard to put down and the women are stronger than they realize, but the men that love them are the ones that prove that strength to them. It’s great to see how these women transform from feeling broken, damaged, and afraid of everything to strong, sassy, and feeling beautiful. I love the characters that Ms. Rhodes writes, and the stories are awesome. I can’t wait for more from her. I love the Broken Rebel Brotherhood, Bastards and Badges, and Soulless Kings MC, and I am looking forward to books from all three series to come, hopefully soon. I give this story a 5-star review and cannot recommend it enough to readers. There are some triggers in this book and the topics, and some scenes are very hard to read, but they are written so well.

Blog Tour and Review: Killing The Story by Joan Livingston @joanlivingston @rararesources

Killing the Story

An accidental death that was no accident…

For the record, Estelle Crane, the gutsy editor of The Observer newspaper, died after a hard fall on ice. But years later, her son discovers a cryptic note hinting her death might not have been an accident after all.

Was Estelle pursuing a big story that put her life in danger?

That’s what Isabel Long — along with her 93-year-old mother, Maria, her ‘Watson’ — agrees to investigate in Dillard, a town whose best days are in the past.

A former journalist, Isabel follows leads and interviews sources, new and familiar. She quickly finds a formidable threat in Police Chief James Hawthorne, who makes it clear Isabel is not welcome in his town — and who warns her against poking her nose into Estelle’s death.

Of course, that’s after Isabel has discovered the chief’s questionable policing and a troubled history with Estelle that goes way back.

Killing the story means dropping it because there aren’t enough facts to back it up. But Isabel won’t make that mistake. She’ll see this one through to the very end.

Can she uncover the plot that led to Estelle’s murder?

Killing the Story is the fourth in the popular Isabel Long Mystery Series

Author Bio – Joan Livingston is the author of novels for adult and young readers. Killing the Story, published by Darkstroke Books, is the fourth in her Isabel Long Mystery Series, featuring a longtime journalist who becomes an amateur P.I. solving cold cases in rural New England.

She draws upon her own experience as a longtime journalist in Massachusetts and New Mexico to create Isabel Long, a sassy, savvy widow who uses the skills she acquired in the business to solve what appears to be impossible cases. She also relies on her deep knowledge of rural Western Massachusetts, where she lives, to create realistic characters and settings — from country bars (where Isabel works part-time) to a general store’s backroom where gossipy old men meet.

She credits her mother, Algerina — the inspiration for Maria, Isabel Long’s ‘Watson’ — for instilling in her a love of reading and the power of the written word.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

A Dead Editor

A Crooked Cop

What’s the Connection?

Isabel finds herself in danger again, but she will not stop searching or following leads until she is satisfied that she has done all she can for Emerson’s quest to find out the real story behind his mother’s death. Isabel will experience all kinds of characters to get to the bottom of the case, and her mother will be right there with her, maybe not always physically, but she is always asking Isabel for updates.

Killing The Story is fast paced and as all of Ms. Livingston’s books that I’ve read, full of great characters and a lot of danger and crazy situations. Isabel is always up for the adventures that she partakes in to find out the truth behind the cases she takes. She’s even up for the danger that always seems to find her. However, along with the danger comes the friendships, respect and support from the neighbors and community. This story was full of suspense, danger, and action. This case was a close to Isabel because Estelle Crane, Emerson’s mother, was a co-owner and operator of The Observer, and she was as tenacious, determined, and a reporter that didn’t have a problem reporting all of the news. Isabel is finding a kindred spirit with Estelle the more she delves into her death.

I love this story and the characters are always so interesting and entertaining. I love Isabel’s relationships that she makes and has with the towns folk as well as those that she ends up questioning. Ms. Livingston’s stories take place in Western Massachusetts and the description of the characters in the small townships around where Isabel lives as well as Conwell remind me of the small towns and countryside in Vermont. I love the Isabel Long stories. These stories always start off with suspense and adventures and this continues throughout the entire book. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more Isabel Long stories in the future.

He was the boy who broke me.
I never wanted to see him again.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Bohdan decided to leave the Bratva along with is Pakhan, Konstantin Silvanov to make a better life for himself. Bohdan, Konstantin and Andrius, Konstantin’s friend, have decided to go into a legal business of well-trained security guards. As they are preparing to start up their business, Bohdan has decided that he needs to find a way to get close to Dasha, his first love. Bohdan is convinced that Dasha betrayed him and wants retribution, but when he discovers the danger that Dasha is already in, he decides that he needs to protect her and save her.

Dasha is in a loveless, abusive, domineering marriage and her only escape and joy is when she’s dancing. She is a prima ballerina and her husband is her manager, keeper, and abuser.  The one night that she saw Bohdan backstage keeps popping back up in her mind and she is noticing that when she thinks of him, she feels more alive than usual. She can’t forget how he betrayed her, but her heart doesn’t seem to care.

I loved this story. The characters are full of life, dangerous, loyal to those they care about, and want more out of life than what they’ve had. These stories are action packed from start to finish and the passion these characters have is hot. They love, protect, fight, and care fiercely and they won’t let anyone get in their way when they set their sights on the women that complete them. I am loving this series and cannot wait for Maxim’s story to come out. It looks to be another action packed, deadly, suspenseful story. I give this story a 5-star review and I just have to say that I love Bohdan and the way he accepts his broken nose as a good thing, he’s also pretty sexy.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Lachlan (Dangerous Doms, Book 5) A Dark Irish Mafia Romance by Jane Henry Now Available!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Lachlan has waited for five years for Fiona to be a woman, but he still feels that he has to keep his feelings from her and the family so that he will not hurt her and to protect himself from his brothers and their retribution if he follows his feelings and might hurt her. Has tried to ignore his feelings, but he has always protected her in one way or another and when she finds herself alone in Boston, MA and has no idea where her guard is or how to find her way back to her dorm room, Lachlan will not sit idle and let something happen to her. He finds his chance to step up and protect her as well as claim her, with the acceptance of the head of the family.

Fiona has known since she was old enough to realize what love is, that she was in love with Lachlan. Now that she is eighteen, she thought he would accept his feelings as well as hers and that he would spend more time with her, especially on her eighteenth birthday. She is disappointed that he seems to be just as distant when she sees him at her party and makes a rash decision that will put her in danger. However, she’s a smart girl and will help the family find the ones responsible for the current danger the family is facing.

I love Lachlan and he’s a great match for Fiona. This story had me feeling angsty with the way these two kept dancing around their feelings and kept refusing to realize they were made for each other. The family has mixed feelings about them being together, but they also have seen these two for the past five years and it shouldn’t have been a surprise to any of them. Ms. Henry has done a great job writing the characters of the McCarthy family and The Clan. The men are domineering, protective and loyal to The Clan. The women are sassy, strong and powerful with their men behind them. They are also fiercely protective of the family and the ones they love. I give this story a 5-star review and cannot wait for more in this series. I am loving it.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5

Emma has four men vying for her attention and love. She was orphaned when she was a young girl and grew up in the system for the most part. One of the men that wants her for his own is twisted and he found a way to keep himself in her life for a time while she was in the Foster System, but then Jarrett Gage lost track of her when he left the job as her counselor. One man wants to marry her and is in love with her, but she believes he is the man that abused her and hurt her when she was a little girl. Her belief that he was the shadow man, was never disputed by Rick. One man is in love with her, but his job is to make sure that nothing happens to her, track down missing people and observe from afar, until she becomes the person he needs to track down to save and protect. Andy is the man that saves Emma in her dreams, can he be the one to save her in real life? Can he save her from the Mr. JD after her memory begins to come back? Then there is the man that loves her and is her bodyguard. She believes she’s in love with Chance, but now that her memory has returned and she realizes everything that she pushed down deep in her psyche, she is no longer the woman that Chance fell in love with and she has realized that she is not in love with him.

This story is was the first book I read in this series by T.L. Mahrt, but it did not distract from the story, nor did I feel lost while reading it. It is full of action, suspense, danger and great characters that have a lot going on. There are some parts of this story that I wanted to read a few lines ahead because I was expecting someone to jump out of the shadows. The author did a great job of keeping me on my seat wondering if and when Jarrett would show up and reclaim Emma. It also had me wondering which character on the team was untrustworthy and questionable in protecting Emma. I give this story a 4-star review and hope to read more from T.L. Mahrt in the near future. More of Emma and the characters in Within The Shadows would be great.

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.
If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5. If I could add 5 more, I would!

My favorite so far, no doubt! I love the cover as well.

Skirt is a man that has done things that are not legal, he’s kept secrets from his Prez, and he can be a ruthless man, when need be. However, when it comes to sex and the heart, he is as pure as can be. He does not partake in the club girls he’s waiting to find the one woman that steals his heart and holds it captive. He’s Scottish and sexy. He’s funny, loyal, and deadly when he needs to be.

She’s stumbling through the dessert and falls in the middle of the road causing Skirt to wreck his bike to avoid hitting her. She’s been beaten and made to walk home in the hot dessert sun of Las Vegas by a man that she can’t seem to get away from. Her only thought is to find her son and protect and get him away from a man that would kill him and Dawn if he knew her secret.

I love Skirt. Of all of the Ruthless Kings he is my favorite so far. He has a heart of gold and yet, he can bring on the demon side when he needs to. His boyish like charms are sweet and endearing. He is a bada** biker, but his loyalty to the MC outshines everything. I love the Ruthless Kings the women they find to complete them are just as strong and lovable as they are. I can’t wait to read Pirate’s story he seems so broken. I give this book a 5-star review and if I could give it five more, I would. I could not put this book down and read it in one day. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to readers that love MC, strong women that know how to fight, and the men that will do anything to protect them and take care of them.
