Dalton Barnett
Since self-publishing her first book in May of 2013, Laramie Briscoe has published over 10 books. She’s appeared on the Top 100 Bestselling E-books Lists on iBooks, Amazon Kindle, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble. She’s been called “a very young Maya Banks” (Amazon reviewer) and her books have been accused of being “sexy, family-oriented, romances with heart”.
When she’s not writing alpha males who seriously love their women, she loves spending time with friends, reading, and marathoning shows on her DVR. Married to her high school sweetheart, Laramie lives in Bowling Green, KY with her husband (the Travel Coordinator) and a sometimes crazy cat named Beau.
My Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5
Holy emotional roller coaster! This story was so hard to read but so well written. It is deep, emotional, and a story that needed to be shared.
Mandy is so lost after miscarrying and she has so many demons that she can’t ask for the help that she so desperately needs. It leads to her ending up in a dangerous place in her head and her father finding her in the nick of time to save her and get her the help she needs, but will she ever be able to find the Mandy that is lurking inside of her and find her way back to her family and the life she so desperately wants? It will take a lot of work and a village, but she’s willing to do what it takes to take her life back.
Dalton has his own demons and when Mandy turns her back on him in her time of need, he doubts himself and the man he needs to be for his family. He is left to fend for himself and find out how to be a dad and take care of Walker. He has no clue what he’s doing but he also knows that he will have to reach out for help, and he has a lot of people that will help him. He wants his family back together and he needs to be honest with Mandy on his feelings and not hide from the tough situations. They both need to work on their communication skills if they want their marriage to work and their family to move forward.
I loved this story even though I read it through bleary eyes most of the time. It was so deep, touching, and eye opening. It was a hard read, but so worth it. Mental illness is something that has been ignored or hidden for so long. The struggle that one’s mind can cause is so hard to understand for anyone that has never had the struggle or gone through it with someone in their life. It can be a daily battle for some and until they reach out for help or get the help they so desperately need it can be very destructive to everyone that loves that person including themselves. This story is a beautiful love story of two people that struggle with their emotions and their demons, but their love is stronger than they realize and will help them to come out on the other side and find their happiness and their strength. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Heaven Hills Generations Series. This book is full of tragedy, illness, strength, danger, and wonderful characters.
