Review of Tetterbaum’s Truth: Just Call me Angel Series, Book 1, by S. R. Claridge

Angel Martin is a young woman who runs a pub in Chicago. She is looking for someone to love her and stick around, but she convinces herself that she’s not. She finds herself in a huge mess after she hits a man with her car one night. She will learn a lot about her true identity throughout this story and will find that she is not who she thought she was, nor was her father. Angel will come into her own at the end of this story, but she will go through a lot to get there.

Olga is Angel’s great-Aunt who helps her out throughout the story. She is a funny woman who tries to set Angel up with “the right man”. She holds a lot of family secrets that Angel knows nothing about until she has to fight to survive.

This book pulled me in right from the beginning and didn’t let go until the end! I loved the suspense and the thrill of the story and the intrigue of who could be trusted in this story.

The characters were so well written and they each made the story that more interesting.
This was my first read of S.R. Claridge but it will not be my last. Now I have to go buy the rest of this series so that I can read more about Angel and her family. I give this story a 5 star review and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys mafia, suspense, thrillers, and riveting stories. This book has all of that plus. Great story!

Review of Missing Lies, by Chris Collett @Crime_Crow @books_n_all

This story had so many things going on that it was intriguing. I loved how Tom Mariner’s team is brought back together by this one case because everyone one of them were actually working a different case, but they came together in the end.

Missing Lies cover

DI Tom Mariner has been promoted to (Acting) Detective Chief Inspector and is working with Charlie Glover and a new DC Victoria Jasson, who was transferred to Birmingham, due to an extensive service reorganization. DC Millie Khatoon is on maternity leave and DC Tony Knox has been promoted as well. Tom works with his new DC to find a missing girl from a high profile family. The team will work diligently to find the young girl, but the intertwining of people in the lives of Tony and Millie and Tom’s case will open a whole door to this case.

I am a big fan of DC Tom Mariner and love to read this series. This story did not disappoint. It drew me in from the beginning and threw me for a loop at the end. I love how Chris puts so much into these stories that keeps you thinking the whole time you are reading. Not only do I enjoy the story, but it keeps my mind focused on what is going on and I really get into these stories. I give this story a 5 ⭐️ review and look forward to more DI Mariner books.

Review of “Cleaved: Grafton County Series 2” by Sue Coletta @SueColetta1

Sage Quintano is a crime story author who is married to the local sheriff in a small rural town in New Hampshire. She has been through a few disasters but has survived. She may not always come out unscathed, but she sure comes out stronger each time. Her husband Niko Quintano will do anything to keep her and their family safe, but when he dismisses her gut feelings about the current murders in their little town he will regret it.

Niko’s team at the sheriffs office are great officers even with two officers that aren’t as weathered as Niko and Frankie. Frankie Campanelli has been working as an officer longer than Ben or Bradley, but she is not your typical police or sheriffs officer. She doesn’t follow the dress code and at times will show up to a crime scene in heels, she is quite sassy also.

I love Sage and Frankie in this series. They are both strong women who have a great friendship and are fun to read. Every time I read one of Sue’s books it makes the day go by so fast. I get so drawn into the book and the story that everything around me just disappears. This one was no different. I find these stories to be so real, especially when I read lines like this; “Beside the personal connection and the tragedy that followed, I’d labored over every word to strike the right chord at the perfect moment to elicit the strongest reaction in my reader. Whether folks realized it or not, authors bared their souls in their books. Nothing quite compared to the intimacy shared between writers and readers, however subconscious it may be.” I can see this in most of the books I read and feel the truth in this statement.

I am kind of reading this series backwards, but it doesn’t matter because even though I know that there is another book after this one, I still get anxious wondering if all of my favorite characters will survive the book. I also get so drawn into the story that I sometimes forget that I’ve read the next book already. I love the characters in this series and I give this story a 5 star review. Now I have to go back and read the first book in the series. Good thing I already have it. I love to read Sue’s books any time, but when I have a break and am looking for a book to read during some down time, Sue is one of my go to authors.

ARC Review of Eagle: Linear Tactical Series Book 2 @givemebooksblog @janiecrouch

This series is getting better with each book and I loved Cyclone. Eagle is even better and the connection between Finn and Charlie is off the charts.

Finn Bollinger is a partner of the Linear Tactical Unit and has lived in Oak Creek all his life. Ex-Army special forces, his life is content and his job keeps him busy. His son Ethan has dyslexia and other learning disabilities and he needs a tutor to help him get up to his grade level in reading. The woman that Finn and Ethan are supposed to meet who will be tutoring him has a history with Finn.

Charlotte Devereux is a woman in need of a break in her life so that she can help her parents and survive herself. She’s a strong, stubborn woman who keeps her life to herself and will do anything to protect the ones she loves. She will put her own life in danger to protect those she loves.

Finn and Charlotte (Charlie) go way back and their history is not something that Finn likes to dwell on. When she walks in to meet a young boy and his family about tutoring she does not expect to run into Finn, nor does she expect to be shot down so quickly about being hired to tutor.

This was a great story to read and I loved that Charlie was such a strong woman who could stand on her own, but that she realized that she didn’t always have to. The characters in this story, series are so strong and loyal. The women are badass and not afraid to stand up for themselves when needed, but know when to let their men help them out and take care of them. I give this story a 5 star review and look forward to Shamrock, and Aiden’s story. Janie Crouch’s stories draw me in and make me lose track of time when I am reading.

ARC Review of Taken: Dark Legacy Duet Book 1, by Natash Knight @givemebooksblog @NatashaKnight13

Wow! Dark Legacy, I guess. This story is dark and yet it is also a story of two people who in different circumstances could have had a normal relationship and could have the trust and honest feelings for each other and given them a real chance at an honest relationship.

Sabastian Scafoni, the head of the family and the oldest living son, has to continue the legacy of taking a Willow daughter and breaking her. He knows he has to do this and he will fulfill his family legacy and choose his Willow girl.

Helena Willow one of the Willow quadruplets, is the dark sister of the four. She does not have blonde hair, and she feels as though she is not a beautiful as her sisters. She is strong willed and refuses to go willingly or quietly. Her mouth and her attitude can be her downfall though. Her three sisters are blonde, beautiful, and submissive. Helena has dark hair, she’s beautiful as well, her hair and eye color are unique and this makes her stand out next to her sisters, she is also strong willed and rebellious.

I really liked this book. It’s just dark enough that it pulled me in, but it has the light parts where the relationship between Sebastian and Helena had me hoping and routing for them to end the legacy. The family rivalry, secrets and greed is disturbing and yet it keeps the pages turning to find out what will happen next and if there could be a HEA ending of the story. I look forward to Torn Book 2 of the series and can’t wait to get into it. I give this book a 4.5 star review and recommend it to anyone who likes a story of family secrets and women with determination. A very sexy cover too!

MY REVIEW:

I love this series. All of the women are full of life and fun to read.

Vivienne is a strong independent woman who is ready to have a family, but hasn’t found Mr. Right yet. She’s making plans to do this on her own until she meets Jason and has a one night stand with him. Jason and Vivienne have an instant connection.

The friendship of the women in this series is strong and loyal. Harper, Riley, Audrey, Roza and Vivienne can find all kinds of trouble to get into when they are together, but they’re always there for each other when the times are tough. They will do anything to make sure that each of them are alright and happy. I love Roza, and her little stories about the old country. She cracks me up with her bluntness and tough act. Riley has a whole story of her own that I can’t wait to read.

I love this story and Vivienne and Jason’s lives and love will take a huge hit through this story, but their HEA is worth the trouble and turmoil. I give this story a 4 star review and highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a story with strong independent women who are loyal and fun to read. Jessa did another great job with Vivienne’s story.

Review of Reprobation, by Catherine Fearns @rararesources

An interesting read for sure! Religion, suspense, Death Metal, and murder all in one book.

Dr. Helen Hope is a professor of eschatology, and a Calvinist nun. Her knowledge in eschatology draws her into a murder investigation when a man is found on a cross with carvings in his body. She’ll discover Death Metal and a new way of thinking about religion and life.

Detective Darren Swift has just been promoted to detective and this is his first big case. He is the detective investigating the murder and he will question his abilities to solve the case as well as the religious meanings behind the murders. He had a rough time in his last position and he isn’t sure yet of how it’s going to be in this new position.

I really enjoyed this book and was drawn into the story quickly. I found the story to be suspenseful, disturbing and interesting. The twists and turns of this story kept me turning the pages. I give this book a 4.5 star review and highly recommend it to anyone likes suspense and thrillers. I kind of hope there is another story with these characters. I’d like to know what happens with Helen, Mikko, and Darren.

Review of: No One Can Hear You, by Nikki Crutchley @rararesources

He said that they’d let me go on purpose. That they could easily find me if they wanted to. He said that they didn’t want me. That I was too much trouble. He said if I went to the cops, he’d know. If I told Sonya, he’d know. If I talked to friends or teachers, he’d know. He told me to pretend it didn’t happen. He told me to consider it a compliment, that I was too strong. His last words to me were, ‘Just forget’.

A girl is taken as a teen ager and escapes. Only to live her next sixteen years in fear and constantly remembering the ordeal she went through. Faith Marsden is a young girl who has not had a great start in life, but can she change her future? Can she overcome the pain and the fear of what happened when she was sixteen years old?

Zoe Haywood is a young woman who has had to make her own way in life. Not because she didn’t have a home and a mother, but because she always knew that she was not wanted. She is a strong minded woman with morals and a stubbornness that could get her into trouble if she is not careful.

Faith and Zoe were friends in high school and reunite in this story to put an end to young girls being taken, never to be seen or heard from again.

This story had a quite a few twists that kept me wondering who these women would find at the end of the string of missing women. I was at all prepared for the conclusion. I really enjoyed reading this book and was drawn into it completely. I wanted Faith to have peace and be able to go on with her life and have a good life. This book had be questioning everyone that Faith and Zoe came across when trying to get help. I give this story a 4.5 star review and highly recommend it to anyone who likes suspense and a book with many twists in it.

My Review:

I really like the Genoa Mafia Series. The characters are all likable and bad ass. Especially Dominic. A man of little words, but with a large presence.

Dominic is a man that scares people just by being in a room with them. He doesn’t have to say anything and people will avoid having to speak to him because of his large presence. He is the cleaner for the Genoa Mafia and will do anything for Roman, Maddy, and Valentina. Now he wanted to add Stephanie to that group, but can he put himself out there and risk his heart again?

Stephanie is a woman who is in hiding and has a secret, actually, more than one now. She shares one with Dominic. He seems to always be there when she needs him and she isn’t sure if that’s a good thing or not. How can she trust her judgement now after all that has happened to her? After the reason she ran and is in hiding?

I really liked this story and Dominic is one hot mafia cleaner. He’s broody, quiet, strong, and loyal to those who have shown him loyalty and family. I give this story a 4.5 star review and hope there are more stories in this series to read. The men in this series are seriously hot.
