Eight Teaser 3

Deacon Staines is a man on the edge. He wants his family back together and things to be the same as they used to be. He married the woman he fell in love with in grad school after they reconnected after graduating high school. He will do whatever it takes to get his wife and fifteen-year-old daughter back. He finally knows where they are after six months of looking. A man on the edge is a danger to anyone that gets in his way. However, he’s not the only one who will take out anyone who is in the way or may be in the way.

Ryan and Sophia Xander have been through their fair share of trouble, danger, and darkness. Now they’re in a good place. They have two beautiful children and a great marriage. Sophia used the property she inherited from her family and some of her inheritance to open The Matilda Rose Women’s and Children’s Center. A safe haven for women and children trying to get out of an abusive household. Sophia runs the Center with her sister in-law Laura Xander who is the psychiatrist, her friend Annabelle Montague runs the children’s programs and day care, and her friend Paige Hood, who is a full-time cop and teaches the self-defense classes for anyone interested in taking them. Ryan is a cop and helps out as needed at the center when he can.

Kimberly Ute is a new addition to the center as a live-in nurse. She helped Macey and Elle Staines get away from an abusive husband and father. Macey Staines needs to get away from her husband Deacon, he has become abusive. She might have stayed with him even if he was hitting Macey, but when he lifted a hand to Elle their fifteen-year-old daughter, she could not allow that to happen again.

I loved this story. Even though it was violent, had triggers, and not a full-on feel-good story. It was written so well, and that is what I loved about it. The suspense and twists in this story were so intriguing that the pages turning. I was so intrigued to find out who the culprit was that I kind of lost track of time and what was going on around me. I give this book a 5-star review and highly recommend it to readers who like suspense, crime, or stories that keep you on the edge of your seat. This story is a great mix of all as well as a crazy family that is always there for each other, even if they are loud and tend to have their nose in each other’s business.

Review of: Checking the Traps by Joan Livingston @rararesources @joanlivingston

Isabel Long was a reporter in the hillside area of Massachusetts until she was fired after a large corporation took over the small paper that she was working at. She is a widowed, mature woman that lives with her mother, works at a local bar, Roosters, at a part-time bar tender.

I love Isabel Long and her mother. They are partners in solving crimes. Most of the crimes they are solving are cold cases. Maria, Isabel’s mother is a 93-year-old woman who has a heavy foot when driving, enjoys reading and has a simple, sensible way of looking at cases when Isabel is trying to figure things out. Isabel’s relationship with Jack may be in trouble in this story when a surprise guest shows up.

I love the characters in this series and way that the story is written is entertaining. Ms. Livingston writes these stories as if Isabel is telling the story herself, and when she mentions someone or something that happened in a previous book in the series, she states, “You know how that turned out.” I love it.

Isabel and Maria are trying to figure out how Gary Beaumont’s older brother Cary Moore, died six years earlier. It was listed as a suicide, but Gary thinks he was pushed. The case will lead Isabel to some interesting discoveries along the way. The suspense and twists in this book were great. Isabel will go through more danger while she is trying to solve this cold case. As usual, she will be in danger from those that she is investigating and that are on her list of suspects.

I give this story a 4.5-star review and highly recommend it to readers that enjoy stories with suspense, twists, crime, and a woman PI who loves being able to snoop. I really like Ms. Livingston’s writing style.

ARC Review of El León: A Bad Boy Romance by Simone Scarlet

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5

Wow! This story starts off with a sexy tryst and pulls you right in. It’s full of danger, family drama, and hot, sexy men.

Valerie Mendoza’s story is not a nice one, but she is able to find a happy life now. A woman who was tricked into going to Mexico with a boyfriend who turned out to be a real loser, she is acquired by the head of the Mendoza Cartel and finds the love she has been looking for. Her parents visit from Arizona and stress their worry for her and their grandson, Francis, living a life in the Cartel.

Arellano El León Mendoza has finally found something worth living for. Being the head of a Cartel is not a safe life, but he will do whatever it takes to stay alive and keep his wife Valerie and their son Francis safe. He’s found a way to ensure that he is not the only man to protect them and ensure their safety, he two lieutenants will protect them with their lives as well. While away from his compound, visiting Valerie’s parents in Cancun, they will encounter danger and escape death, not only once, but twice.

This story was a quick read for me. It was a fast-paced book that takes the reader from a nice family vacation with some drama to more drama while the family has to run for their lives and seek shelter to keep out of the sights of someone who wants to harm them.

I enjoyed this story and give it a 4-star review. If you are a reader who enjoys hot, sexy, Alpha males, and stories of cartels and danger, I highly recommend this story. The cover is quite sext too.

ARC Review of The Guardian: Daryl (Cover Six Security, Book 2) by Lisa B. Kamps

Daryl “Zeus” Anderson is a man who keeps to himself, but he also keeps track of all the men who work for him and his partners, Mac and Jon, in Cover Six Security. His one-night stand in the Caribbean, while attending Mac and TR’s wedding, won’t leave his mind. That’s why he has to keep busy. He also has to fight his past from creeping up on him and distracting him. When he gets a package from his old commanding officer, he will find a lot more than what he is expecting.

Kelsey Davis is a woman who has to keep moving to keep her daughter, Paige, safe. Her father told her to go to Daryl for help and protection, but she doesn’t know him, nor does she trust easily. She’s trying to keep her daughter from a life of danger and will do whatever she can to make sure that Paige is safe. She may be on the run, but she’s not a woman who cowers easily. Being raised by a military man taught her how to take care of herself and set her up to be able to stay under the radar.

I loved Mac’s story, and Daryl’s story was just as good. The men of Cover Six Security are a great team. They work well together on their cases and to keep each other safe and grounded. Daryl and Kelsey will fight to find their future. The story is well written, and the characters are awesome. The Cover Six Security guys are a great team, they are the type of guys that when they find the woman that they want to spend their lives with, they will fall so hard. This is the case with Daryl just like it was Mac.

I give this story a 4.5-star review and am looking forward to Ryder’s book. I highly recommend this book and series to any reader who enjoys suspense, ex-military, and Alpha males who will be taken down by a beautiful woman.

ARC Review: When We Fall (Rocky Falls Series, Book #1) by Olivia Rose @GiveMeBooksPR and @OliviaRoseBooks #TuesdayBookBlog

When We Fall Ebook Cover

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5

Wow! This book was not exactly what I was expecting, but it ended up being much more. A story of young love, tragedy, bullying, and finding a path in life.

I have to say that I love the cover of this book, its beautiful. I also absolutely loved the quote at the beginning of the book. “To be nobody-but-yourself – in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else – means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.” E. E. Cummings
Erin Michaels hasn’t had the easiest time growing up. Her start in life wasn’t the best, but she has a good home, and a loving guardian. Unfortunately, she’s the target of the mean girls in school and has been for years. She tries as hard as she can to be invisible, but her senior year seems to be the year the that she’ll be noticed the most.

Mason Knight, the new kid in school. He’s mysterious and hot, and the only open seat in class is right next to Erin. She is not thrilled that his presence next to her has drawn more attention to her, but she’ll end up happy with the attention he shows her this year.

This story had me getting very angry at the way that the mean girls ruled the school, and no one stood up to them. The story was a tough story, but it was done very well. The tragedy in the story was pulled from the headlines. I loved that Erin was able to show her kind heart and how Mason saw it from the beginning.

This story had the typical high school cliques and showed so many characteristics in the characters and how life can change so quickly for anyone. I loved Erin, Mason, Monica, and Gram. I look forward to more on these characters and to see where life takes them next.

I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it to readers who enjoy YA love. However, be warned that there is some tragedy in the book, and you’ll need the tissues close.

ARC Review: Silent Mayhem by Sue Coletta and Pre-Order Link @SueColetta1 @rosieamber1

Title: Silent Mayhem
Series: Mayhem, Book #3
Author: Sue Coletta

Genre: Suspense, Murder, Women Sleuth, Crime

Silent Mayhem

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️out of 5

Shawnee’s back and in danger, again. Her life is about to take quite a turn with the secrets about her parents that she will try to get from Mr. Mayhem.

Mayhem, Poe, Edgar, and Allan’s lives will change in Silent Mayhem as well. Mayhem’s wife, Kimi will push the crows and Mayhem into Shawnee’s life to protect and warn her of the danger she is in. The crows may not like the fact that they need to try to protect her and warn her, but they’ll do it for Kimi and Mayhem.

Levaughn is working a case of a serial killer who decapitates and scalps his victims. There is no rhyme nor reason to the victims of the serial killer that can easily be found, and the track to the killer is not easy. Levaughn has to fight his distaste for working with FBI Special Agent Odin Barrett, when he finds out that he is working the case as well. The killer is working in two states, so the FBI are involved.

I really love reading Sue’s books. They are so full of information, sassy women, twists, and suspense that they draw me in from the first word and keep me tied up in the story until the very last page, even when that ending makes me want to scream! Sue did not disappoint with this story either. The information that was in this story for the murders and the possible reason for the killings, and the way the killer treated his victims was very interesting and I have to side with Shawnee, that the atrocities that were committed so many years ago made me just as angry as they did her. The side stories going on in Shawnee’s life are just as interesting as the main story of the murders and the murderer in Sue’s books. There is so much going on, but none of it distracts from the main story. It just gives it so much more to read and take in.

I love Shawnee and her take-no-bull attitude. Her exterior is hard, but she is secretly a kind hearted, softie. Her love for Levaughn, Maggie, and her best friend, Nadine, show her vulnerabilities as well as her softness. She is such a great character. I love her sassiness as much as her toughness that she shows.

I give this story a 5-star review and am anxiously awaiting the next book in June. I always recommend Sue’s books because they are just written so well, and they are so entertaining to read. If you are a lover of mysteries, suspense, murder, crime, or books with twists and sassy heroines you will love Sue Coletta’s books.

ARC Review: THE HARDEST ROUTE by A.S. Teague @jennw23

THR - AN (1)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5

Griffin Rockwell is in the prime of his life and living the highlife. He has just been drafted into the NFL and will be playing wide receiver for the Chicago Bears. He and his four college friends, Aiden, Quinn, Shane and Trav, decide that they need to celebrate their NFL drafts in Las Vegas.

Brooke Spires is a woman who has a career and a PhD. She’s smart, focused and lives her life working. Her best friend convinces her to go to Vegas for a few days to let off some steam and let her hair down. Mel, Brooke’s best friend is a spur of the moment kind of girl and can convince Brooke to do things that she knows she shouldn’t do. They gamble and go to clubs and let their hair down. The night before they are supposed to head back home to Atlanta, they meet some really hot guys.

A story of a one-night stand in Vegas that lasts more than one night. Brooke leaves Griff’s hotel room the next morning thinking that her one-night stand was wonderful, but she isn’t expecting to ever see Griff again. Little does she know that her life will change in so many ways in the next few years, let alone months.

I really liked this book and I love Mel. She is the type of girl that lives life to the fullest and enjoys it. Brooke is a safe kind of girl but is easily convinced by Mel to enjoy life. Griffin and Brooke’s story is a story of friendship and a partnership, until Griff realizes that Brooke is the woman he wants in his life. This story is touching, heartbreaking, and sweet. I was laughing at Mel and Brooke’s antics and conversations as well as Griff and his buddies. They were funny and yet they were always there to back each other up. A true example of family by choice in both groups, and then becoming one in the end.

I give this story a 4-star review and really hope that there will be more to come about the others, Mel, Aiden, Quinn, Trav and Shane. This was my first read of A. S. Teague, but I look forward to more. I am huge football fan, and while none of these guys played for my team, San Francisco 49ers, I still liked the book and the teams they played for 😊. I had to laugh at the name that Allie and Griff have for Aiden’s team because that’s what we say in our house too.

ARC Review: Delivered (Devil’s Duet #2) by Eva Charles @GiveMeBooksPR and @evacharles37

Passion couple. Sepia

Title: Delivered
Series: The Devil’s Duet #2

Genre: Dark Romance/Romantic Suspense
Release Date: March 21, 2019

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 out of 5

Julian (JD) Wilder and Gabrielle (Gabby) Duval, have a past and their future is looking like it may not work out the way they are each picturing. If you read Depraved, you know that the end left everyone wondering what happened to Gabrielle. I was devastated by the end of Depraved but Delivered made up for all of it. The skies above Charleston are dark and smoke filled due to all of the fires. JD needs to get to The Gatehouse, Gabby’s hotel, and is going crazy trying to get there.

JD’s head of security is a friend from Prep School, Smith. He tells JD how it is and takes no crap from him. I love how he and Gabby joke and laugh about how they each can make JD want to pull his hair out. They both know how to get to him, and they do it very well. Smith works with JD to find what he needs to take down his father. He also watches out for Gabby when she decides that she needs space from JD to figure things out about her future.

I know in my review of Depraved that I said I didn’t find the story to be very dark, well, the darkness came out in Delivered. This story was dark, depraved, and full of twists. Julian is a man who thinks of himself as the son of the Devil himself, but no one else knows the depths of his father’s evil. I really liked this story and highly recommend it to anyone who likes to read a story with darkness, twists, turns, and a woman who is sassy, smart, sexy, can stand on her own, and strong willed. I give this story a 4.5-star review. I want more of Smith, please! I would also love a story about Gray and Chase. I love the characters in this story and want more, please.

REVIEW OF VIOLENT DELIGHTS (WHITE MONARCH #1) BY JESSICA HAWKINS @GiveMeBooksPR and @jess_hawk

Violent Delights Teaser 1

Two brothers, Cristiano de la Rosa and Diego de la Rosa, who are taken in by the Cruz Cartel after Costa Cruz killed their parents for going against a longstanding agreement, have different loyalties and they will be tested and discovered in Violent Delights.

Cristiano de la Rosa will have to rediscover his life after being betrayed and a bounty being put on his head. He’s not who everyone thinks he is, but he will have to prove himself to everyone.

Diego de la Rosa the youngest of the de la Rosa brothers is the quiet one and the one who will create more danger for the Cruz family with a deal he’s made. He has the trust of Natalia Cruz as well as her adoration. However, he can’t gain the full trust of her father Costa Cruz, the Don of the Cruz Cartel.

Natalia Cruz is the Cruz Cartel Princess. She doesn’t want to live the life of the Cartel any longer and tries to convince her father that letting Diego move to California with her and live their lives peacefully is the best idea.

I really liked the twists in this book and found the story to be very well written. I love the characters, and it sucked me right in from the very beginning of the story until the very end. The surprises in the story and the twists were well done. I wanted to shake Natalia and tell her to wake up and stop being a spoiled princess. This story shows that you can’t always trust those in your close circle. Loyalty can be switched in an instant, but it can also be tricked.

I give this story a 4-star review and recommend it to any reader that enjoys reading Organized Crime, suspense, and stories of young love. The characters in this story were strong and powerful. I look forward to more in the series. This was my first read of Jessica Hawkins’ books, but it won’t be my last.
