Release and Review: The Beast of Boston by JL Mac @EJBookPromos @JLMacbooks

Title: The Beast of Boston
Author: JL Mac
Genre: Mob Romance (Dark)
Release Date: May 19, 2020
Cover Design: Robin Harper, Wicked by Design

“This is Beast. Beast is the size of a Volkswagen and has an impossible amount of buds and blooms. Beast also has thorns. But if you can sneak close enough to catch a whiff, and avoid the gnarly thorns, you’ll be ruined for all the other roses for the rest of your life. The sweetest, most addictive scent amongst the thorns.”

That’s what mom told my little sister and I once. She led us close enough to look but no further as she spoke of her favorite rosebush that she had affectionately named Beast.

That was a long time ago.

These days I know another Beast. A different kind of wild, untamed thing. He too is dangerous to get too close to. It’s unfortunate that I can’t afford to care, not when he’s the key to finding my sister.

They called him The Beast of Boston when he was a professional boxer. Now he rules over a bunch of criminals—the same criminals I hope will lead to my sister. I won’t stop until she’s found. I’ll get as close to Beast as it takes, gnarly thorns and all.

The problem is I’m so busy worrying for my own physical safety that I never considered how my heart would behave. Mom was right about one thing: I am ruined for all the roses for the rest of my life and it’s much too late to change it now.

A story of betrayal, loyalty, loss and family. He’s The Beast, he’s dark, dangerous, and not at all what she expected.

Ena was raised in a foster home until she was ten years old. She never knew her mother or father. She was told a story about her mother and when she finally moved in with a family that showed her love and what family was, she decided to keep her last name in case her mother came looking for her when she got older. Little did she know that her whole life had been a lie and due to extenuating circumstances, her life was about to change completely, and she could just hold on for the ride.

Carrick “The Beast of Boston” had a tough life as a child and when he was fifteen his life changed, and he found his calling. He put his anger and energy into fighting in the ring and became a legend in the boxing world. As he got older, he had to stop boxing and step up to help in the family business. After his father died when he was fifteen, Beast was taken in by his father’s boss, Orin, the boss of the Irish Mafia in Boston. Now he had to step up and become the second in command for Orin and the family. Beast is only loyal to his family and when a woman walks into his club and puts herself in his life, she turns it upside down and he has no idea what’s going to come next.

I loved the characters in this story. Ena is brave, strong, determined, and loyal to those she cares about. Beast is the same way with his family. These two had chemistry off the charts, but they both tried to deny it for their own reasons. When the truth of Ena’s reasons for infiltrating Eden come out and her true identity comes to light, they both have to struggle with what is right and determine where to go from there. The story is full of action, steamy chemistry, and great characters. I give the story a 5-star review. This was my first read of Jaimi Shannon, but I really enjoyed her book and would look for more if there were more on these characters. I would love to read Alana and Murphy’s story. I think Alana has a lot to tell. If you like action packed mafia stories you will love this book. It does have a dark side but is written well and makes the whole story.

Death.
Heartache.
Vengeance.
This isn’t a tale for the tender-hearted, the judgmental, or those who refuse to think outside the box and look at the broader picture. Those who think that everything is black and white. Simple. Cut and dried.
It’s not. There’s always shades of gray.
It’s easier to say “I’d never” when you’re sitting safely at home with the people you love most right by your side. When grief hasn’t woven itself so deeply in the fabric of your DNA that it can never be unraveled. There can be no separation. And even if you tried, it would only result in you becoming a frayed and tangled mess.
It’s easy to say you’d never walk the treacherous moral tightrope. But you aren’t the one who plummeted to the depths of hell, littered with the agony of loss and the anger of injustice, and had to claw your way out.
This story isn’t scrawled on pristine white pages in bold black ink. Marred, torn, and blood-spattered, its chapters hold deep gouges inflicted by betrayal.
This story is about a woman who had everything taken from her.
And how she took it all back.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Wow! If you like a story with a bada** woman who wreaks vengeance and destruction on those that destroyed her world, you will love this story. If you love a strong woman who finds a way to survive despite the destruction she has lived through, you will love Caitlyn, she’s strong, dangerous, and has a soft spot for those that need a helping hand.

“Always be aware of your surroundings.”

She was raised in the gun and pawn shop, she knows how to shoot, load ammo, shoot a bow and arrow, and she knows she was loved all of her life. Now she has a family of her own and a little girl, Willow, that has just received her first bow. Her marriage is struggling, but her life is good otherwise. That is until danger came knocking on their door and a threat was made. She’s the only survivor of a deadly attack on the shop that she and her father run along with her husband. Caitlyn Ashford is helpless to do anything to save her family. When she tries to get justice through the legal system for the hit on her family, she finds herself in a situation that she never saw coming and now she’s on the run from the law as well as dealing with her loss.

He’s a hired gunman, a man who lives and works alone. He’s been hired by the Dixie Mafia to find the culprit responsible for the death of so many members of the Dixie Mafia. He’s known as The Hunter and he always gets his target. However, this time his target will be more of a challenge than most others have been in the past. He’ll find himself in a situation where he has to make a choice and figure out which way is the right way to go. He’s deadly, dangerous, dark, and scarred.

I absolutely loved this book. I did cry at some stages, but this book was full of suspense, action, dangerous characters, and an ultimate betraying twist. I was on the edge of my seat reading it and hated to put it down for any reason. It pulled me in from the first page and gripped my attention until the end. There were very few lulls in this story. It’s an easy read and the pages turned quickly, but it was so detailed and full of action that it was difficult to see the end of the story. I give this book a 5-star review and highly recommend it to readers who are looking for something to thoroughly entertain you. It’s a bit heavy, but so worth reading. The characters are deep and so well written that they steal your heart.

I love the quote in the beginning of the book: “You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.” – Bob Marley

Review of Secret Keeper (Cocky Hero Club Story) by Christopher Harlan @GiveMeBooksPR and @CockyClub

CHC Vi Keeland _ Penelope Ward

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5

He’s from a working-class family, raised by his grandparents. He’s loyal, sticks to his morals, and can keep a secret. Dylan Murphy is the Personal Assistant to a very rich man that opens his world up to so many things. Dylan idolizes Graham and works very hard for him. He was hired when he needed a job most, right after he returned home from his duty in the Marines. Dylan lives in a very ritzy Co-Op owned and run by Graham and his rich friends that also live in the Co-Op. Dylan is a man who gets things done, he is not only the PA for Graham, but he is also the manager of the Co-Op where they live. He’s a fixer in a way. The first time he sees Penelope, he is drawn to her. He is smart enough to keep his distance though once he finds out that she is taken, that is until he learns that her fiancé is not who she thought he was.

Penelope is also from a working-class family. She isn’t looking for a man to give her the world, but when Chandler comes up to her in a bar and introduces himself to her and asks her out, she’s charmed. Things are fine until after they become engaged and she learns who Chandler really is. The son of a media mogul that is ruthless in business and life. She needs to get away from him when his secrets start to come to light, but he’s holding her family over her and she can’t escape him, until Dylan decides that she’s worth any sacrifice and will do anything to help her and bring down the corrupt media mogul.

I enjoyed this story. It’s a story of two people who get a taste of the rich life, but don’t lose their morals and keep their roots. These two will go through a lot to get to the actual truth and bring down the corrupt fiancé, but they will have some help along the way from the people that Dylan has shown true respect and dedication to. Graham knows who Dylan is and will help him to attain his own goals. There are secrets, challenges, angst, and suspense throughout this story and the true hero will finally win in this story, but it will take a lot of dedication, planning, and help to get to the ultimate goal. I give this story a 4-star review and recommend it if you like stories of the underdog coming out on top and an Alpha male that doesn’t need to shove his way into anything to accomplish his goals.

Review of Cocksure Ace by K. Webster A New Release in the Cocky Hero Club @KristiWebster @GiveMeBooksPR and @CockyClub

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5

Sheridan Reid is a young woman who has had to be strong since she was little girl and lost her mother. She was always told by her mom that she was strong, and she didn’t want to disappoint her when she was sick, so Sheridan always hid her tears and her vulnerabilities. As a young woman who has worked alongside her father in their company, RT Industries, she has become a woman who gets things done, she is serious, boring, and focused on getting her father’s best friend, David, to commit to her and explore a relationship. On her way to meet her father’s wedding and meet up with David to convince him, she is re-routed due to a Hurricane and finds herself with a group of people that draw out the young woman she should be and shows her who she can be and what she really craves in life, friendship and fun.

Camilo Zaragoza is the co-pilot and is living his dream of flying all over. His father and he left Mexico to fulfill Camilo’s dreams of becoming a pilot, giving up their life in Mexico and leaving Camilo’s mother behind. He loves going to see his Mamá when he is able to fly back, but his life is in Florida now with his papa. Camilo is fighting his own battles now though as his father has had a stroke and is in a care home. The young woman who seems to be arrogant and rude has caught his attention, until she insults him and is rude to his face. However, for some reason he is still pulled to her.

I really enjoyed this story, it was entertaining, angsty, and funny. The characters are great. You have two sexy, cocky pilots, a stuck up rich heiress, a Latina singer, a gay reality TV star and his assistant, the flight attendant, and an elderly couple that are all traveling to Cost Rica that end up in Tahueca, Oxaca, Camilo’s hometown and have to stay at the Zaragoza Hotel, Camilo’s family hotel. Due to Rodrigo, the Hurricane headed right for them, the group has to stay together to stay safe. The whole ordeal brings out a different person in Sheridan, after a lot of bad situations first. This story was funny, angsty, and sad, but all in all it was a great story. I loved Damian and I really hope he gets a story, along with Nicolas. Damian is the perfect character to bring out the humor in this story. I really can’t see him being quiet and not wanting his own story. I give this story a 4-star review and hope for more of these characters because they are all great and fun to read.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of The Land Where Sinners Atone by V. F. Mason @Author_VFMason @LWoodsPR

TLWSA_IG1

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Holy sinners needing atonement! Another great dark, twisted story by V.F. Mason. She really knows how to bring out the dark and twisted as well as draw out the story until you’re hanging on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what’s going on.

She told them she was innocent, but no believed her. She was pitted against the King family, they owned New York and were loved by everyone, so she was drug through the mud and sentenced for a crime she didn’t commit, at least not the way she was portrayed. Phoenix finally had it all. Growing up in the system wasn’t easy, but she was smart and driven. She knew what she wanted from life after a chance meeting with a young boy who was hurting. She had everything now as an adult woman. She had the career she wanted, a man who loved her and her life was going well. Until it wasn’t. One tragic night everything changed and then her life hit bottom and the only reason she was fighting to stay alive was for the little part of her that no one else knew about, yet.

He is the only King by blood. He’s powerful, rich, and still hurting from his childhood. Zachary King’s life took a bad turn when he was a young boy. On a particularly bad day, he met a little girl who brought some sunlight into his life, but only for a short time. His father sent him away to school but kept his new wife and her children with him. Zachary grew up abroad going to school and grew to hate his father because he felt that his father didn’t want him. When he finally came back to the states to live, he was supposed to meet the little girl, now an 18-year-old young woman, to see if their friendship could be more than writing letters every couple of years to each other. Only he didn’t get to her on time and met someone else that would become his world, until one fateful night when his world would be shattered forever.

Phoenix and Zachary have a past that will become apparent after a lot of damage has been done to both of them. Zach has become a rich, powerful, angry man who only lives for revenge and will go to any extreme to get it. He is determined to ruin Phoenix’s life and accomplishes it until the truth comes to light and Phoenix and Zachary have to work together to get the real killer and bring them to justice.

This story, like all of V. F. Mason’s stories that involve crazy, twisted, dark characters, was an excellent read. I loved it from the beginning until the final page. I cried and got angry at the characters, but ultimately, I loved the main characters. I loved that Ms. Mason incorporated her characters from her Dark Romance books into this one and that they played a part in finding and helping with the capture of the character that caused all of the mayhem in this story. I love the characters that she writes, and they stay with me for a long time after reading her books. I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it if you are a lover of dark, twisted, dangerous characters that will do anything for the ones they love, even if it includes finding retribution after they are no longer with them. I do have to say that this story had me on the edge of my seat right up through the epilogue and almost the final pages of the book, and I was crying as well. Great job with this story, I loved it!!

MY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Boomer (Ruthless Kings MC Book 2) by K. L. Savage @GiveMeBooksPR and @klsavage_author

BoomerTeaser2

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Wow, ugly cry! This story is heartbreaking, but action packed as well.

Boomer grew up in the Ruthless Kings MC Las Vegas Chapter. His father was the president until his death due to a bad plan. Boomer stayed with the MC and was raised by Reaper, Boomer’s father’s best friend. Reaper is now the president of the club. Boomer is so happy to have found out that he has a sister and he loves her unconditionally, but Boomer is having a hard time finding himself and finding his place in the MC. He needs to get away and figure out what will make him happy and who he is. So, he sneaks away in the dark of morning leaving a note for his sister and the MC that raised him, finding himself in Atlantic City, NJ at a rundown motel on the beach.

Scarlett is a college student that finds herself waking up in the damp, musty basement of some house. She has no idea how she got there or what has happened to her in the past few hours. Her last memory is of being on campus and hearing the rumble of motorcycles and then the sting of something on her neck. When she wakes up and finds herself unable to move and collar around her neck, she begins to panic and is comforted by another female voice, until she learns where she is and what her future looks like. When Abigail, the other girl with her basement, tells her of the man who brings her food and how he is kind, Scarlett is skeptical and shows that she is not afraid of him. She confronts him as to how he can let them be treated this way and why he hasn’t helped them.

Boomer finds his way and what he’s meant for in Atlantic City when he finds Scarlett and other women being held in a basement. His odd friendship with the motel owner, Homer, gives him purpose too. He wants to help Homer rebuild the motel and make it a place where people want to stay and give Homer some peace in his life. He has sacrificed so much already and deserves to have some good in his life.

This story broke my heart, tore it out of my chest, and then put it back together. It was devastating to get to know Boomer and his struggles, but when he finds his way, it healed my heart right along with healing his. It is a beautifully tragic story of a man who feels like he has nothing to live for and finds that if he weren’t around so many people would be heart broken. I loved this story and I am looking forward to more of the Ruthless Kings, although I hope that there will be more of Boomer’s MC as well in the future. The men of the Ruthless Kings make me laugh at times, the passion that they have about their proclivities and the way they treat each other like they are family is amusing and I love them all. I give this story a 5-star review and recommend it to readers who love MC romance, goofy, tough, dark bikers, and the women who complete them and make them whole. I will give you a heads up though that it is dark, heartbreaking, and deals a touchy subject, but it is done very well.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

I did not see that coming! A mafia story with a dark, sexy Irishman, and a huge twist.

He can’t seem to stay away from the shy beauty in the diner. He’s a dangerous man with a reputation, but she has no idea who he is. She just knows that he is sexy, dark, and quiet. Liam Black has been showing up at Buddy’s Diner for eleven months now, sitting in Truvy “Tru” Sullivan’s section each time and only having coffee. He can’t seem to stay away from her even though he knows that it’s dangerous if he doesn’t. After saving her life and making sure that she is taken care of, he thinks of a way to have her and the let her go so that he doesn’t break her or put her in more danger.

Tru moved to Boston with her boyfriend at the time, who decided that she wasn’t enough for him. When Tru found out that he was cheating on her, she took matters into her own hands and dealt her form of revenge. Tru is going to school to become a lawyer. She’s not looking to become rich and famous defending high-profile cases. She has her reasons for the path she chose, and she is surprised to find that Liam has his own way of dealing justice. These two weren’t meant for each other, their age difference means nothing. They have so much in common and fit perfectly together.

I loved this story the characters are great, and the story was so much more than what I was expecting. Liam Black is older than Tru, but he can’t seem to stay away from her. Tru is from Texas and has no idea who Liam is or what he does. She knows that he is dangerous, but she is not afraid of him. She is surprised to see people’s reactions when they hear his name. Everyone shows fear. Tru feels safe with him and she is not afraid of him. She is not afraid to stand up to him or his men either. I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it to readers who enjoy mafia romance, women who are strong and smart, surprises, and stories will stay with you long after you have finished it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Roadkill by K. L. Ramsey @KLRamsey5

Roadkill

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

This story is twisted, full of action and tells a story of second chances at a good life for two people who have had some rough patches.

Cillian was set up and used as an example when he was a young man. Now he has done his time and is ready to live a full life. The only trouble is that he’s limited on finding someone to give him a chance since he is an ex-con. His luck changes when he decides to stop into the little diner for a cup of coffee and he meets Vivian.

Vivian has been working hard to make ends meet since she inherited the diner from her grandmother. She struggles to keep employees who are willing to work and show up to work. She has trouble finding reliable employees and works hard to keep her diner opened and not have to break her back to keep it going. She is lonely and wants a family of her own, but she doesn’t seem to have any luck in finding anyone to share her life with.

I really liked Cillian and Vivian’s story. Cillian has some hurdles to overcome and he needs to find his confidence and overcome his self-doubt as well as find a way to move on with his life and find his path. He has a dream but he has to find his way to make his dream come true and when he finds a way to pay back Savage for all he has done for him, he may give up on that dream and he’ll put his life on the line to save those that he loves. I give this story a 5-star review and I look forward to more in the Savage Hell MC series. The characters are strong, entertaining, and enjoyable to read.

Release and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review: Winter’s Arrow by Lexi C. Foss @EJBookPromos @LexiCFoss

Title: Winter’s Arrow
Collection: Sinister Fairy Tales Collection
Author: Lexi C. Foss
Genre: Dark Fairy Tale Retrelling
Release Date: May 14, 2020
True love is a myth.
A trick.
A way to subdue the heroine and take everything from her.

Winter Snow
My “true love” conspired with my stepmother to have me killed and stole my throne.
But they failed.
I’ve been in hiding and refining my vengeance. I’m no longer the damsel they mistook me for once upon a time. I’m coming for them. And my kingdom, too.
Who needs dwarves when you have wolves?
Who needs blades when you have arrows?

My name used to be Snow. Now they call me the Winter’s Arrow. Because I’m here to destroy them all.
Kazek Flor
I’m not a prince but an Alpha. And I take what I want, when I want it. So when I found an Omega princess dying in the woods, I took her and made her mine.
I’ll train her. Embolden her. Help her seek the vengeance she is owed. Then, together, we’ll take down Winter Sector and the wicked Queen of Mirrors.
Run fast, little wolves.
Your former princess is about to rise with me by her side.
And we’re thirsting for your blood.

“Help,” I begged. “Need… help.”
Kazek frowned at me. “You’re going into estrus, Snow. I’m planning to help you.”
I shook my head, a whine catching in my throat. He didn’t understand. “No knot.” I couldn’t accept it. This had to be part of Vanessa’s plan, to make an Alpha think he could fuck me fully.
She’d planned to entice Enrique with this spell, to force him to knot me.
That was what she’d meant by having methods to induce the sensations. She’d cast some wicked enchantment that convinced Alphas I could handle them in a rut.
Tears collected in my eyes.
I’d escaped her clutches, only to fall into the hands of someone so much worse—an Alpha driven by need.
She’d won.
After all that… she’d still won.
I crumpled against him, sobbing beneath the crushing emotions of betrayal and defeat. And worse, arousal.
Because I wanted him.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

She’s lived a life of lies. After losing her parents at birth, Princess Snow has been raised by Queen of Mirrors, an Alpha that has stepped up and offered to raise Snow to take her place on the throne of Winter Sector. She is a Beta but will be trained to be worthy of taking the throne. Little does she now that her stepmother has been betraying her and the Beta’s of Winter Sector. She has planned to take control of the throne on her own.

He’s an Alpha, the second in command of the Norse Sector. Alpha Kazek was not born a shifter; he was turned as an adult human and has had to fight for his position to stand next to Alpha Ludvig. He has earned his position and Alpha Ludvig’s trust as well. He’s not a man who needs to rule, but when he finds Princess Snow in the woods of Norse Sector and finds that she snuck on their plane when they left Winter Sector, he takes it upon himself to punish her and he is determined to take her. He wants to punish her for the smart mouth when he was introduced to her as well as for the deception of sneaking on his plane.

She’s broken so many rules and has no idea that her trying to get away from Winter Sector has put her in danger. Little does she know that her need to survive and escape has put her in more danger. She has no idea who she is because she has been lied to all of her life. In order to survive and live, she will have to put her trust in Alpha Kazek. Both of them will have to find a way to survive the next few days and they will have to change.

I really enjoyed this story, a twisted retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Princess Snow has her circle of seven that have protected her all of her life and would anything to make sure that she survives Alpha Vanessa, Queen of Mirrors. I give this story a 5-star review and recommend it to readers who are looking for a twisted Fairy Tale, enjoy shifter stories, strong women who have been told that she is weak most of her life, and Alpha males that find their mates and find that they are complete once they have them.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Taken (Sinners of Boston #2) by Vanessa Waltz

Taken

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He is dangerous, dark, and deadly. She thought he was a good guy, but after her father comes up missing and Carmella finds out that Michael is the reason for his absence, she is determined to do anything she can to saver her father. Even bargain her own life.

Michael Costa is the Consigliere of the Costa Mafia. He is a single father who will defend his children at all costs for any reason. He is looking for answers and has taken Ignacio for those answers and for revenge. His anger and darkness will cause a lot of turmoil for Michael and Carmela.

Carmela has offered herself up for retribution for her father’s freedom. Little does she know that her offer and Michael’s counteroffer will change both of their lives and their path to the life that they are both searching for.

I really liked this story. It’s full of action, suspense, secrets, and great characters. I give this story a 5-star review and I’m looking forward to more in this series. The characters are great. Michael and Carmela are both coming out of bad relationships and have a hard time believing that they could have a relationship that is not full of turmoil or angst. Michael has been attracted to Carmela for a while, but situations have changed, and they will need to find a way to overcome their pasts and move forward to find their HEA. Secrets will come to light and sacrifices will be made, but the family will continue to search for the Prince to save him.
