Review of “Shaded Love”, by Christiane Serruya

A short read as a prequel to “Love Painted in Red”. A story about a young girl who falls in love with a young man that her father doesn’t  approve of. She gets pregnant and wants to tell her father, but she is afraid because her father is a man that has to have control of his life and his family.

Eva May is only 19 years old, but she’s pregnant and wants to marry her babies father, whom she loves. She believes he is the only man for her and doesn’t want to upset her father, but she doesn’t think that she can walk away from her love and give up her child. After losing her mother recently, she feels that her life is moving on for the better. Eva May decides that she can’t walk away from her new life, so she walks away from her father and her family instead. Did she make the right choice? Will her choice cost her everything?

I liked the way this story was written. I know it was a prequel, but it not only set up the next story “Love Painted in Red”, it also had you wanting to read the next story to see what was going to happen.

ARC Review of “The Heart of the Matter”, by P Nelson @HGRomanceDeals

Eric is a Dom without a permanent sub. He’s interested in Lilith, and has played with her and her Dom, Gaige, but she is really only interested in Master Gaige. Eric is approached by Calla, the resident shrink at The Cage, and asked to train a new sub who wants to get into the life style. Eric reluctantly agrees to train her, but only because Calla pretty much badgered him into it.

Elizabeth wants to get into the BDSM lifestyle and worked two jobs and saved her money to gain the membership for herself and her boyfriend, Jerry. They joined The Cage as a couple to go through the Dom/sub training, but Jerry decided he wanted a sexier looking sub to work with, so he broke up with Elizabeth . What he didn’t know was that as a single Dom, he would go through a different training, and it would not be with a sub.

Elizabeth is paired up with Eric for a month of training. The training is going well and they are beginning to make a connection and find a good place in their pairing, until Jerry decides he wants Elizabeth back and threatens everything in her world. This threat creates a train reaction of events that could end in a real tragedy, and it could also ruin the relationship that is building between Elizabeth and Eric.

This book kept me wanting to turn the pages. The twists in the book kept me from wanting to put the book down. I hated for it to end though. I enjoyed reading Elizabeth and Eric’s story. I love a man with a deep voice, and when Elizabeth described Eric’s voice and how it made her shiver, I was hooked. The characters in this story and series are great. The fact that they are like a family and help each other out is great.

The men in this series are Hot Alpha’s who take care of the women they love and will go to any length to make sure that they are safe. If they fail, it would crush them. I give this story a 4.5 star rating.

Review of “Hushed Torment”, by Bella Jewel @GiveMeBooksBlog @BellaJewel73

I loved this book. Amalie is a strong girl who puts herself through a lot of torment after an accident takes her hearing and the freedom of her then boyfriend Caiden. Amalie takes the burden of the accident on herself and feels that she does not deserve any happiness or good in her life. Caiden plays this as much as he can with Amalie. He is a manipulator and knows all of the buttons to push with Amalie to upset her and break her down.

Music is Amalie’s escape from her torment and she gets an offer to tour and play with a Country singer, Scarlett. She finds herself in more trouble because Scarlett’s ex-boyfriend is out to hurt them both. Amalie and Scarlett are being protected by the Iron Fury MC after they were attacked by Treyton, Scarlett’s ex. Amalie meets Malakai, the president of Iron Fury, and they both feel an attraction to each other quickly.

I read this book pretty quickly. The pages turned easily and quickly, too quickly. I hated for the book to end, but I was pleased with the ending. I think I need to go and read “Whiskey Burning” now. I want to read all of Maverick and Scarlett’s story. Great Job, I give this book a 5 star rating. A beautiful love story between two very different people.

ARC Review of “A Hero’s Honor: Resolution Ranch – Book 1”, by Tessa Layne @HGRomanceDeals @TessaMLane

Travis Kincaid is a rigid man who has to have control and a firm routine in order to get through his days. He returns home, leaving the Navy after a mission that went south, and becomes the Police Chief of Prairie, Kansas. His last mission in the Navy was hard and leaves him scarred. Returning to the ranch he was raised on and wants restore it to and start ranching again, but he can’t do it alone. He is a kind man who cares about the people of his small town.He feels as though he has failed his small town when a tornado tears through the town and destroys a large part of the downtown.

Elaine Ryder, is a single mom who is working two jobs to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. She has a past that she is ashamed of and is trying to overcome while raising her 7 year old son, Dax. The tornado devastated Prairie, but the fear that it causes Dax has made him change. The once fun loving little boy has become a quiet scared little boy who has withdrawn into himself.

This book hits a lot of hard subjects and they are handled really well in the story. The characters are scarred, but they are strong and very likable.

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the next one in the series when it comes out. I think I need to go back and read Tessa’s “Prairie Heat” series now.

The Hero’s in this series are strong, rugged, sexy, and very Alpha. If you enjoy a story about a Military Hero who is finding his way outside of the service to his country, and a strong woman who has had her share of pain come together to help each other heal, then you should read this book.

One accident changed my life.
One single second changed everything for me.
In one terrifying moment, everything I knew was gone.
Music is the only thing that keeps me holding on.
When the opportunity arises for me to tour with country music star, Scarlett Belle, I take it.
An escape.
A chance.
Only it isn’t enough to lift the shadows of my past.
And when I meet him, dangerous and different, I can’t turn away.
He is forbidden to me.
The President of a Motorcycle Club.
A man who could bring noise back into my soundless world.
But the shadows of my past haunt me.
They linger like a dark nightmare, reminding me that we can never be.
Because my sins are far too heavy.
And my mind far too broken.
Music is the only escape I can allow into my life.
The only one that I will let seep through my hungry veins.
But he’s always there.
And he’s persistent.

I must continue my life just the way it is.
Without him.
Breathing in my nightmare.

Review of “Mr. Control”, by Maya Hughs @GiveMeBooksBlog @mhugheswrites

Rhys is a single father who is very rich, and philanthropic. He has a daughter, Esme, who is six years old and doesn’t speak to anyone but her father due to a tragedy when she was younger. She sees Melanie and walks up to her and speaks. Melanie doesn’t know how important this is until she meets Rhys and tells him how she met Esme.

Melanie is a single woman working in a diner barely making it. She lives with a waitress that she works with, but she doesn’t have her own room, she sleeps on the couch. The roommate has a boyfriend who is creepy and is always watching Melanie sleep.

Fate and a little girl brought these two together.

This story was a great read. I really liked Rhys and Mel, they are both very strong personalities with their own baggage, but they don’t bring it into their relationship too much. They both deal with it on their own and then as they get to know each other well enough and realize that they are worthy of love, and to have someone beside them to bring out their strengths, they share their past with each other and it helps to make their relationship stronger.

They have some trials and tribulations along the way, and they need to learn trust, but in the end they find their way and become a family.

Definitely a different kind of billionaire  and single father falls for a regular girl and nanny book. Good read. It made me cry in a few places due to circumstances in their lives, but I really liked the book. I read it in one day and didn’t want it to end. If you enjoy a story about life, love, and forever, with some angst thrown in, then Mr. Control is a great choice.

She’s the one woman I should stay away from, but I can’t help myself…
They say being a billionaire has its perks, but I hardly notice. After being widowed, my beautiful little girl is the most important thing to me. Esme hasn’t spoken to anyone but me since her mother’s death. When she goes missing, I’m this close to losing it.
When Esme turns up safe and sound with a cute waitress, I’m ready to give the lady a reward and be on our way, but then Esme speaks to her. It’s simple, a mere “thank you”, but I know I can’t let the waitress get away.
Melanie is nothing like the women who throw themselves at me. Her big brown eyes take my breath away from the minute I lay eyes on her. She fills out her pink waitress uniform with curves I can’t wait to get my hands on. I can’t get her out of my head.
Melanie’s bringing my little girl out of her shell, which means she’s strictly off limits. But having her under my roof and close enough to touch is too much of a temptation. My legendary control is beginning to slip and I don’t know how much longer I can resist breaking every rule I have.
Mr. Control is a HOT romance with heart that will tug at your heartstrings, melt your panties, and leave you begging for more. HEA included! This single dad romance is approximately 62,000 words!

You can find her writing on her foldable keyboard and phone anytime inspiration strikes. Her sweet and steamy stories range from rockstars to small towns and everything in between. When she’s not writing, she’s playing with her three kids, running errands or vegging on the couch with the love of her life and biggest fan, her husband.

ARC Review of “The Keys to my Diary ~ Marina”, by Ann Omasta @AnnOmasta @HGRomanceDeals

A light, funny, refreshing read. I loved the way this book was written. The characters in this story are well written and fun to get to know.

Marina is a funny young woman who is dealing with a recent divorce from a man she has been married to for several years, Frank. Frank is an unfaithful jerk that treats Marina like she doesn’t matter. Marina’s best friend, Fern, encourages her to write in a journal to help her work through the feelings she has since getting a divorce. Marina doesn’t think it will help much until she begins to write about things that are going on in her daily routine.

In writing in the journal, Marina finds that she is stronger  and more courageous than she thought and that she is desirable, funny, and a great catch.

I look forward to reading more about the characters in this series and finding out about their stories. Especially Trixie’s book. The journal entry about her had me laughing for a while.
