She’s the one woman I should stay away from, but I can’t help myself…
They say being a billionaire has its perks, but I hardly notice. After being widowed, my beautiful little girl is the most important thing to me. Esme hasn’t spoken to anyone but me since her mother’s death. When she goes missing, I’m this close to losing it.
When Esme turns up safe and sound with a cute waitress, I’m ready to give the lady a reward and be on our way, but then Esme speaks to her. It’s simple, a mere “thank you”, but I know I can’t let the waitress get away.
Melanie is nothing like the women who throw themselves at me. Her big brown eyes take my breath away from the minute I lay eyes on her. She fills out her pink waitress uniform with curves I can’t wait to get my hands on. I can’t get her out of my head.
Melanie’s bringing my little girl out of her shell, which means she’s strictly off limits. But having her under my roof and close enough to touch is too much of a temptation. My legendary control is beginning to slip and I don’t know how much longer I can resist breaking every rule I have.
Mr. Control is a HOT romance with heart that will tug at your heartstrings, melt your panties, and leave you begging for more. HEA included! This single dad romance is approximately 62,000 words!

ARC Review of “The Keys to my Diary ~ Marina”, by Ann Omasta @AnnOmasta @HGRomanceDeals

A light, funny, refreshing read. I loved the way this book was written. The characters in this story are well written and fun to get to know.

Marina is a funny young woman who is dealing with a recent divorce from a man she has been married to for several years, Frank. Frank is an unfaithful jerk that treats Marina like she doesn’t matter. Marina’s best friend, Fern, encourages her to write in a journal to help her work through the feelings she has since getting a divorce. Marina doesn’t think it will help much until she begins to write about things that are going on in her daily routine.

In writing in the journal, Marina finds that she is stronger  and more courageous than she thought and that she is desirable, funny, and a great catch.

I look forward to reading more about the characters in this series and finding out about their stories. Especially Trixie’s book. The journal entry about her had me laughing for a while.

Review of “Valor of Love”, by Tracy Cooper-Posey

I am not generally a Historical Romance reader, but I did enjoy this story.

The Great Family is lives their lives the to the fullest and the way they want without concern for what their Society deems inappropriate. It is refreshing to read about a family like this and see that they are normal and have normal lives even though they are part of royalty. Thomsett and Lilly’s story is touching, rewarding, and courageous. The fact that they have both been hurt, but heal each other, even though they should not be together shows their caring nature and their strength to become survivors.

Thomsett thinks he is broken beyond repair, but finds his strength in Lilly. He also shows Lilly that what broke her was not her fault and that she is worthy of love. He helps her to come out of her shell and re-enter society and take her rightful place in her family. This also brings Thomsett to take his rightful place in society and accept his inheritance.

Enjoyable read, and heart wrenching at times.

ARC Review of “Heir of the Hamptons: A Fake Marriage Romance”, by Erika Rhys @erikarhysauthor

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Good read. Ronan and Ava both need some help to keep their businesses afloat. Ronan's sister has the solution for both of them. Do they really want to go along with it?

Ronan owns Kingsley Technologies, a company he built from the ground up, but he's having some trouble with finances and needs some money to put into his business before he loses it. Cara, Ronan's younger sister suggests he marry to get access to his inheritance from his grandfather. He only has to convince his socialite step-mother that it's honestly a marriage for love.

Ava is Cara's best friend and college roommate. They are like sisters and have stayed in touch since they graduated college. Ava owns a floral design business and is struggling to keep her business going and pay her bills. She started this business out of college and hates to think of letting it go because she can't pay her bills. Cara introduces Ava to Ronan at a dinner and leaves them on their own to get to know each other. They both decide that Cara's plan won't work.

The characters in this story are both strong willed people who have to work together to gain the success they are looking for. They start out a little rocky, but once they get to know each other and respect each other things begin to get smoother. I enjoyed reading the journey these two take to keep their businesses afloat, and I really liked both the main characters. I look forward to reading more about these two in particular, but about the rest of the family as well in the future.

If you like a book with a strong hero and heroine, but that can show their vulnerability, then this is a good book to read.

They call him the Anaconda, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t because he likes snakes.

Nick Jenson is my neighbor. My hot, oh-so-sexy, very-well-equipped neighbor that I’d spend hours watching from the safety of my bedroom window.

I saw lots of things I probably shouldn’t have. Sometimes I’d touch myself, imagining it were his hands roaming over my body instead of my own. I had just one mission—to find out if the rumors were true.

Then one day, he caught me watching him.

I was mortified. I was prepared to quit college, move to another country, and live the rest of my life saying, “Nick who?” But, apparently, life had other ideas.

Because Nick? Well, he isn’t just my neighbor … He’s also my father’s best friend. If I thought things were difficult before, they were about to get a whole lot more complicated.

Oh, and those rumors? Holy fuck, are they true …

Excerpt
I throw the rest of my coffee down the sink, suddenly unable to stomach it. I wait for dad to leave for work before I bolt next door search of Nick. I find him just as he’s closing his front door. I glance at the car, where the kids are already strapped in.

“Hey,” he says with a smile. He frowns when he sees my expression.

“Do you need to tell me something, Nick?” I growl, with my hands resting on my hips.

The color drains from his face. “Fuck. He told you, didn’t he? I’m so sorry, Anna. I couldn’t help it. He invited himself along. What was I supposed to say to the guy?” he says weakly.

“Jesus, Nick. How about no?” I retort, still in disbelief.

“I’m sorry,” he protests again. “I really had no choice. Short of saying hey, I’m fucking your daughter, there was nothing that would’ve gotten me out of this.”

“Fine,” I growl, knowing I can’t be angry at him for this. “So, what’s the plan?” I say, rubbing my temples.

“I hired a houseboat. For a week,” he muttered.

“A freaking houseboat?” I laugh, shaking my head.

“Jesus keep your voice down,” he hisses, glancing at his car.

“You’re telling me that for the next week, I’m stuck on a houseboat with my boyfriend, my father—who also happens to be my boyfriend’s best friend, and my boyfriend’s two kids?” Nick winces. “And you want me to keep my voice down?”

“Uh, is now a bad time to mention you dad just called me? He wanted to check that it was okay to bring Mandy.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I mutter, shaking my head. “He must’ve called you the second he left the house.”

This just keeps getting better and better. I liked Mandy, but it annoyed me that he made this big deal about us spending time together only to turn around and invite his girlfriend.

What the hell am I going to do?

Kayla is in such bad hysterics that she’s practically falling off the kitchen counter when I tell her about the mess that is my life.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” she huffs, barely able to spit the words out. “You’ve got to get me a ticket on that boat.”

“It’s not a fucking show, Kayla,” I growl. “There are no tickets.”

“Bullshit. This is going to be the show of the year,” Kayla giggles.

“Come on, please be serious, Kales,” I frown.

“I am being serious. You need me there,” Kayla says. The laughter is gone and there is nothing but honesty in her voice. The thing I love about Kayla is as crude and blunt as she can be, when you need her, she’s there. “I can help out with the kids and buy you more time alone with Nick. You think you’re gonna get any time with him without me there to cause a distraction?”

I think about it. Maybe having her there wasn’t the worst idea in the world. If something went wrong and I needed an out, I know Kayla would figure something out for me.

I AM HONORED TO BE PART OF THE BLOG TOUR FOR “INNOCENT LIES”, BY CHRIS COLLETT

INNOCENT LIES by CHRIS COLLETT

Do you like police procedurals with great characters and real grit?

Discover Detective Tom Mariner in this critically acclaimed series.

Two teenagers go missing on the same day. Just a coincidence?

The two young people are from very different backgrounds: Yasmin is the talented, grammar-school-educated daughter of devout Muslim professionals. Ricky disappears after storming out of his council house after an argument with his mum’s latest boyfriend.

DI Mariner knows Ricky’s mother from his days in uniform. He is furious when his superiors take him off Ricky’s case and reassign him to the more politically sensitive investigation. The press — and his bosses — are convinced that Yasmin’s disappearance is a racially motivated abduction. The Akrams have been the target of a far right group.

But Mariner soon discovers that Yasmin is far from the innocent victim her parents think she is. Can he get to the bottom of a perplexing case where no one is what they seem?

Find out the answers in this crime mystery full of stunning twists and turns.

Perfect for fans of Peter James, Ian Rankin and Peter Robinson. This is the second book in the DI MARINER SERIES, more books coming soon!

THE SETTING
Birmingham is a city of stark contrasts with a rich cultural and historical heritage. Playing a key role in the industrial revolution, it helped shape the nation’s manufacturing industry

But with its many green spaces, Birmingham also borders on the beautiful countryside of Worcestershire and Warwickshire, is just a few miles from Stratford on Avon and a short drive from the wild country of mid-Wales.

Birmingham’s population is large and ethnically diverse, and while urban regeneration has forged a modern and culturally vibrant city, the decaying remnants of the industrial past and 1960s concrete jungle give it a unique and gritty character; the dark underbelly policed by DI Tom Mariner and his team.

Detective Inspector Tom Mariner is, on the surface, an average dedicated policeman, but his experiences as a younger man have given him an insight into life on the dark side, and a clear sense of right and wrong. Mariner has little interest in material things. He lives in a modest canal-side cottage, enjoys the occasional (real) beer and game of dominoes and drives an old car. He is most at home in the outdoors, with an OS map and a compass, and in times of crisis, will take off and walk for miles in any weather.

THIS IS A REVISED EDITION OF A BOOK FIRST PUBLISHED AS “BLOOD OF THE INNOCENTS.”

DI MARINER SERIES
Book 1: Deadly Lies
Book 2: Innocent Lies

Review of “The Betrayal”, by Anne Allen @RosieAmber1 #RBRT #TuesdayBookBlog @AnneAllen21

A great read that takes place in the 1940’s and 2000’s. I loved the way the book was written to give you a background of what happened during the German occupancy of Guernsey in the 1940’s and goes to current day where we find out who the betrayer was as well as what happened to Leo’s families valuables. The book was well written and moves effortlessly through between the decades.

This was my first time reading Anne Allen, and I now want to go back to read the other books in the Guernsey Novels. The mystery of the belongings found and the rightful owner takes us through the years and how the items came to be hidden as well as their value in present day.

If you enjoy a good mystery and the connections made while trying to figure out who the bad guy is, then this book is a good choice. I give this book 5 stars.

Hushed Torment Promo

The end of October and the beginning of November Sunday Rambling

We spent Halloween with our daughter, son in-law, granddaughter, and grandson. Our grandson is only two months old, but he was dressed up as a skunk, and our granddaughter was a Belle from Beauty and the Beast, she is three. I walked around and went trick or treating with them. My granddaughter was so proud of herself when said trick or treat, although it was usually after she got the candy. She learned very quickly about bowls on the porch with candy in it. Her mother told her there was a note with them that told how much candy they could take. As soon as her mother told her how much she could take, she promptly counted out that many and put them in her pumpkin.

My reading for this week has been on the light side, it was a busy week at work as well, especially with a short week for me, because I took Tuesday and Wednesday off for Halloween. My daughter lives 4 hours away from us, so we stay over when we go to visit. I read “Wormwood”, by Larry Enmon this past week, and reviewed it. A great read, you should buy it and read it. I am three quarters into a book and should be finishing it soon. I’m reading “The Betrayal”, by Anne Allen. I am really enjoying the book. I love these crime thrillers. You should buy this book too, and read it. My next book that I will begin reading next will be “Innocent Lies”, by Chris Collett. I have some others that I am waiting to hear back on to read and review as well as being involved in the blitz for them to come out.
