First blog post

This is my first blog post ever.

I am starting this because I want to be able to review books that I read in a place that I felt comfortable doing so. I’m an avid reader of romance and I wanted to share my thoughts on the books that I read as well as the writers who write them. I love crime and suspense as well, so I look forward to reading more of this and reviewing the books.

“Are you looking for the cheerleading tryouts, sweetheart?”

Zeke Kingston is the arrogant, tattooed, and sinful coach of Boston University’s women’s football team. And I’m their new quarterback.

From the moment the dark and broody hunk mistook me for a cheerleader we’ve clashed. His smirking lips make my blood boil and his god-like muscles turn my knees weak.

Everything about us is off limits, but lines are blurring and temptations have become too hard to resist.

Being together breaks all the rules, but what happens when the rules no longer matter?

Caesar and Aria are a time bomb waiting to go off. They both have issues that they carry with them at all times and they both generally get what they want, even if they have to be deceitful to get it. I love these two together, they are perfect together and bring out the best in each other. They can be a powerful team if they can get past their hurt and betrayal from the ones that should have loved them.

There are so many parts in this story that had me cheering these two on. I loved how they didn’t shy away from anything when they were after what they wanted. Their destructive ways and confidence is what really made these two characters for me. They each had their loyal friends and their confidants, but they were also loners. The fact that they were both survivors and fought so hard for their place in life made them special. There are some touchy subjects in this story, but the way they were written was great. The unspoken hurt from their past and the betrayal of those they thought should protect them and keep them safe made these two who they are and they are perfect.

I loved this story and really hope there is more to Caesar and Aria in the future. I would also like to read more about Cain and Nico. I think their loyalty and friendship to these characters really added to the story. I give this story a 4.5 star review and look forward to more stories from Bethany-Kris

Dishonored Teaser 4

Caesar wasn’t sitting in his spot for more than two minutes before a girl in a tight, black bodycon dress and sky-high red heels came to deliver his drink. She flashed him a sensual smile as her hand came to rest on her hip. His gaze drifted over her to take her in—she was sexy enough, as far as that went, but nothing stirred him to act.
“Anything else I can help you with?” she asked. “Maverick said to make sure you were pleased.”
Caesar offered the woman a charming smile. “For now, I am. Grazie, bella.”
Her brow lifted at his Italian, and she grinned a bit. Women always did like it when the foreign language came out to play—Caesar never really understood the appeal. He could make a woman come just as well in English as he could in Italian. Who fucking cared what he was actually saying while they were riding his dick?
“Just let me know,” the woman all but purred.
He might.
Not tonight.
All it took was a flick of his hand, and the girl was gone. Maverick had trained his staff well, and the girls were used to being either the center of attention when it came to a patron, or dismissed altogether. Caesar usually fell into the latter category here because there was always something a little more interesting that came along to catch his eye.
Like that right there—damn.
The woman sitting on a couch just across from his had entirely passed his view as he scanned the club, and right then, she seemed entirely oblivious to him as well. Caesar liked that because if nothing else, it gave him the time to peruse her.
And damn, was she a sight to see.
The body-hugging gold dress draped over her shoulders dipped low enough in the front to give him a peek at ample, perky tits, and collarbones that made his dick hard. Yeah, he had a thing for those—liked to bite them, really.
A slit in the skirt of the short dress came up to her thigh, and when she crossed her legs, he swore he saw a flash of bright red lace hiding beneath. God save me. He would have groaned out loud if he were a lesser man, honestly. Anything red or lace was his weakness, and he wasn’t even ashamed to admit it.
Her black fuck-me heels helped to give her long, smooth legs the kind of promise that whispered they would look even better wrapped around his waist or head. Shit, he wasn’t fucking picky—she could even have it both ways, if she wanted.
The woman’s painted red lips and brown-copper curls framed delicate features, soft lips, and wide green eyes. Her gaze was darkened by smoky makeup he suddenly had every dark urge to smudge and ruin, and he wondered what that shade of lipstick she wore might look like when it was a ring at the base of his dick.
Wow, yeah.
He needed to get laid.
By that female right there.
As though she could feel his eyes on her, the woman turned her head from whatever had caught her attention, and her gaze landed directly on Caesar. Those small lips of hers curved in the most wicked way as her green orbs took him in from head to toe. He knew what she was seeing—women usually liked what they looked at when it came to Caesar, and he did aim to fucking please.
Black Armani.
Italian leather loafers.
Gold rings on every finger.
A let-me-fuck-you smile.
Sometimes, he could get them with just that smile of his alone.
Unashamed, the woman kept staring. Caesar lifted a single brow, and then pointed a single finger to the drink in her hand. Something red, by the looks of the little bit left in the glass. Probably sweet, but still enough bite to get her buzzed enough not to taste it. Her stiletto red—the same shade as her lips—fingernails tapped a beat against the glass.
“You want another one of those?” he asked.
Even over the thrumming bass from the music, and the noise of the club, he could tell she had heard him just fine by the way her nose crinkled a bit.
“No, thank you.”
Caesar stiffened at her voice.
Soft, sure.
But silken.
Like the words stroked her lips with each one she spoke, and they probably tasted like sex coming out.
But it wasn’t even that which made him pause. No, it was the hint of the accent in the background of her words—Italian.
“Care to join me?” he asked.
The woman gave him a second look, and then nodded. It wasn’t a blink and a breath in time before she was gracefully standing from her own couch, and crossing to join him on his. He couldn’t help but take in the way her trim waist melted into shapely thighs. All that golden skin of hers looked good enough to fucking eat.
“You looked lonely,” he said to her after she had rested back on his couch. “Couldn’t have a beautiful woman being sad on my watch.”
The woman shrugged. “My husband flaked.”
Oh, Christ.
God was good to him.
He was the worst kind of sinner.
And God still loved him.
At least, for tonight.

Dishonored Teaser 1SYNOPSIS
Sex is his weapon.
Power is her drug.

Caesar Accardo is gasoline. Mostly harmless while stable, but Aria holds the match to set the dishonored Cosa Nostra prince on fire in more ways than one. And if he burns down everything in his path because of it—so be it.

The problem is … she just wasn’t prepared for all of him.

Aria De Rose is a hurricane. Amazing from afar, but destructive up close. Caesar keeps getting pulled into the Camorra queen’s plans in her effort to gain power, but he’s a better player than she knows.

The thing is … women like her are the reason why rules are meant to be broken.

Philadelphia isn’t ready for game these two are playing—the sacrifices they make might not be worth it in the end, and someone will always lose in a war.

They’re broken, so very vicious, and they are not the good guys. But for every villain in the world, there’s a monster at his back who made him that way.

And monsters like those hide in plain sight.

Note: This is a standalone romance with content that some might find triggering. Be warned, and read with caution.

Review of “Beast”, by Alana Albertson @AlanaAlbertson

A man who was wounded in war by saving his friends and team members from death finds the one woman who looks beyond the scars and temper to find the real man beneath it all and falls in love with him. She’s a woman who has had her share of being seen as only what is on the outside.

Grady “Beast” Williams is a marine who is trying to find himself now that he may be medically discharged from the Marine Corps due to his injuries. He can’t see his life beyond the Corps and the only position he has ever wanted in the Marine Corps is no longer a possibility. Where is his life going? His heroism has opened other doors, but he doesn’t want to go through those doors because of his injuries.

Isabella Cuesta a woman who has a secret and left her public life to be a normal person. She needs money to finish her final college semester because her father decided to dip into her college fund. Isabella is a woman who doesn’t let too many people into her life and she keeps a lot close to her. She will learn that sometimes the people that we least expect to be good for us are the people we need in our lives.

This is a story of Beauty and the Beast in more than one way. Not only from the outside but also from the inside. It’s a true likeness to the story of Beauty and the Beast because Beast not only looks like a monster, he acts like one too most of the time because he’s too afraid to be hurt by people. The only people he lets into his life are the men served with and saved. I loved this story as I do all of Alana’s stories that I’ve read. The men are Alpha males, strong, sexy and sweet, although you wouldn’t know that until you got to know them. I give this story a 5 star review and look forward to more of Alana’s books in her Trident Series, Heroes Ever After and the others.

Review of “Champagne and Spurs: A Military Bad-Boy Romance”, by Simone Scarlet

A proposed marriage of convenience is accepted and everyone is happy, until Lucy meets Charlie’s younger brother.

Charlie Holybourne is a man who is interested in politics and needs to get married to represent the Family Values platform that he is running on. The only problem is that he really isn’t ready to get married and has no interest in any woman enough to get married. His working relationship with Lucy Henwood presents a perfect scenario for both of them. Lucy needs to be married for her family business and she has no prospects in mind. This could be the perfect solution for both of them.

Charlie’s younger brother Harry is a reclusive man who runs a ranch outside of town. Charlie calls to tell Harry he’s getting married and asks Harry to welcome Lucy to the family. Harry reluctantly agrees to meet Lucy and welcome her. Harry was injured in the war and is not a man who wants to be seen by anyone thats why he keeps to himself and stays on his ranch. When he meets Lucy he finds that he wants things he hasn’t wanted in years.

Lucy and Harry have somethings in common and these commonalities will lead to a relationship that neither one expected.

I really enjoyed this book and found the story line to be very deep and sad. I loved how these two found each other and everyone found their true path in their futures. This story was a love story, but it was a bit more to me. It showed how so often people will judge a person based on their appearance or demeanor. Just because someone is reclusive or keeps to themselves, doesn’t always mean that they are a bad person or a grouch. I liked how Simone showed how perception is not always true and that we really shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. The characters in this book were well written and well developed. They all seemed to find their true path and found happiness. I give this story a 4 star review and would like to find more of Simone Scarlet’s books to read in the future.

Review of “The Last Valkyrie”, by Karina Espinosa @TweetsByKarina @agarcia6510

The last Valkyrie_1

She was once a warrior that was destined to be well known. She was her father’s favorite and was hand picked to train with the top Valkyrie to learn all that she needed to learn to be a great warrior. Her loyalty to her father and her position as a top Valkyrie made her decide to stay back when all of her sisters left the humans to fend for themselves, and closed the doors to Valhalla. Now, centuries later she is being framed for murders she did not commit. She’s no longer the powerful warrior she once was, but she still has some power and the will to wield her faithful sword to protect herself and the few people she has become fond of.

Raven Romero is a wanderer who has lived for many centuries. She chose to stay behind when her valkyrie sisters left Midgard. She didn’t want to abandon the humans since her father favored them. Now she was just passing her days by with alcohol and drugs. After many years of living amongst the humans, she discovers that she’s not as invisible as she thought. After she’s framed for murder, she finds that many others recognize that she is a Valkyrie. She has to figure out who is framing her to clear her name and be able to move on, but does she really want to move on? She’s found a couple of friends in Oregon and may want to stick around for awhile. Raven will face a her father as well as someone she thought cared about her, but was only using her to get what he wanted. She’ll have to revert to training as a Valkyrie to stay alive.

Will, one of the arresting officers when Raven was arrested for murder, is a young police officer who believes is justice. He starts to believe that Raven may have been framed and wants to help her. Charlie, a young woman that Raven met in the bar where she was working, is more than she appears. She’ll be an ally to Raven in her search for the real killer as well as her need to stay alive. Raven wants to shelter Charlie and keep her safe because she believes she’s an innocent, but Charlie keeps telling her that she can protect herself.

I really liked this book and give it a 4.5 star review. I really hope there are more books of Raven’s life, and if so I look forward to reading them. I highly suggest this book to anyone who likes the story of Odin, Valkyries, paranormal, or fantasy. It has all of that and more.
