When we finally pulled off at a gas station, I swung off the bike, grateful as all hell to stretch my legs. Beast felt my eyes on him, if the expectant look on his face was any indication. I waited for him to join me on the sidewalk.
“You got somethin’ on your mind, Country Club?”
With a lopsided grin, I nodded. “First and foremost—”
He pulled me flush with his hard torso. “There’s a ‘first and foremost’. God. Gonna have to brace for this.”
“Fine. Do what you have to, but I feel compelled to let you know, on behalf of all the drivers you cut off, split lanes on, or passed on the shoulder, you drive like a colossal asshole.”
I thought he’d be pissed, but his twinkling eyes lit with a smile. Then he swatted my jeans-clad ass. Hard. His voice sounded on the verge of laughter. “What else you got?”
I wasn’t pleased about the swat to my ass, but I pressed onward. “Secondly, don’t let me hurt your ego or anything, but believe it or not, you’re not as important as you seem to think you are. I mean we’re not in that big of a hurry.”
His hand left my ass, and cupped my jaw. “There’s someone very important on my bike, babe, and it ain’t me.”
Well! That damn sure took the wind out of my sails. Luckily, I rallied. “I’m flattered you think that, but seriously–”
“Rule number one, no bein’ serious on this trip.”
“You can’t be–” It was on the tip of my tongue to say serious, and he knew it.
“Probably the only thing I mean business about. Gotta get you outta your head. Not right you can’t sleep through the night, and I don’t like it.”
“That was ‘cause of you,” I blurted.
“Say that again?” he demanded.
“Well, uh, I mean, I hate the idea of a guest sleeping on my couch.”
“Woman, that couch probably cost more than any bed I’ve owned. For a couch, it was more comfortable than my bed at the compound.”
I crossed my arms. “I should have been on it, not you.”
That odd look from this morning came back. “I’m in your bed, you’re in it with me.”
“You are not to be believed,” I muttered.
“Why’s that?”
“I saw you with that woman at Liar’s.”
His face hardened. “You mean Steph?”
I nodded because I didn’t trust my voice not to betray me.
“She’s an employee, Janie. Yak invited her to that thing. Followed her onto Liar’s street. Could tell she wasn’t sure which house would be his, so I rode next to her.”
“I see,” I murmured.

 

“So do I,” he grinned. “You were jealous.”

Janie has grown and changed over the years since her marriage to Trent and her goals are no longer lining up with Trent’s goals as public figure. She wants more out of life than dressing and acting like the perfect wife. She’s seen as a woman who lives the high life and wants and needs the best of everything out of life, but she is just a woman who wants to live her life on her own terms and in order to do that, she will need to divorce Trent and find her way on her own, but will she really need to do it all on her own?

Beast has moved from Biloxi to Jacksonville to start over. It’s too painful for him to stay in Biloxi without Katherine being in his life. He needed a fresh start and to stay away from women for a while, but the woman that he caught coming out of Andrea’s studio is hard to forget and to stay away from. He’s drawn to her and he doesn’t stand a chance of staying away.

I really enjoyed this story. The story is intertwined with Foolish Riot and takes place at the same time in some spots. The characters are fun to read and easily likable, most of them anyways. I really like the Riot guys and their girls. I give this story a 3.5-star review and highly recommend it to MC readers. It has action, political deception, sexy Alpha’s, and sassy, brassy women who keep their men on their toes and take no crap from the men in their lives. I look forward to the next book in the series to come out, Starting the Riot, in 2020.

Hypnotized by his azure eyes, it wasn’t until he smiled that I realized I was leaning into him with my hand still clenched his shirt. I tried to lean back, but he wrapped an arm around my neck and the other around my waist. “Oh no, you don’t. Not quite yet. Wanna feel your softness up against me a little longer.”
I sighed through my nose. “Nice as that sounds, it’s not a good idea.”
A roguish grin lit his face. “Good ideas are rarely as fun as the bad ones.”
“Always an answer for everything.”
“Far from it,” he said.
His head lowered, lips brushing mine then settling in as he angled my head where he wanted me. This kiss was gentler but no less passionate. My breasts swelled and my whole chest warmed because his actions told me he would be this good or better in bed. I yearned to drive my hand into his hair. That urge shook me out of the moment and I wrenched my lips free.
“Dammit!” I hissed.
He chuckled. “Gotta say, that’s a step up from ‘God damn it!’ Maybe if I kiss you three more times I’ll get your true response.”
“No,” I cried. “No more kissing!”
“Then no more drinking.”
“What?” I asked trying to break out of his hold.
“You had two drinks right? Time for you to go back to your palace.”
“My palace?”
“What it’s called. Big sign out front, babe.”
“Aren’t you observant,” I said and nearly stumbled backward because Beast finally loosened his grip against my trying to step back from him.
His hands shot to my shoulders. “Are you steady? Or did you sneak a shot in there with the wine?”
“No! I know better than that. I just didn’t expect you to finally let go of me.”
He gave me a strange look along with an eyebrow arch.

I steadied myself and stepped around him. “Lucky for you, I need to get to the other side of the river. I hope you have a nice evening, Beast.”

The story of coming home and finding what was in front of you all along. Jessie Knutson grew up around a garage and can change a tire or the oil in a car just as well as her brothers or her father. She decides that she needs to travel around though and not keep her roots in one place. After her father’s health takes a hit, she has decided to go home and stick around until her father is better and back on his feet. However, on her way to a meeting she ends up with a flat tire and since she is wearing a skirt and heels, she waits to see if someone will stop and help her rather than change her clothes and do it herself. When a tow truck comes by and stops, she is happy because she has someone to help her and an added bonus, he’s easy on the eyes as well.

Bernard (BJ) Spencer Jr grew up around garage also, now he owns a garage and is opening a parts store. The woman broke down along the road on his way fishing reroutes his day. There is electricity between these two. Jessie doesn’t want to go home; she’d rather stay with BJ and enjoy her night. BJ has been burned before and now he doesn’t want to give his heart to anyone. However, spending a weekend with Jessie begins to thaw his heart.

I really enjoyed this story. Ms. Ring writes steamy, sexy, well rounded characters that pull me into the pages. BJ and Jessie were a fun couple to read. These two aren’t aware of it yet, but they have a bit of a history and Jessie is the woman of BJ’s young teen dreams. I gave this story 4-stars and strongly suggest that you go one-click this book and read it.

The doorbell rang again, and I caught sight of the clock. Thirty-one minutes after the hour? Crap! That had to be Liar and Andrea. I scrambled out of bed and unlocked the door, not registering that there was only one male body on the other side of the glass.
My eyes widened because I was stunned to see Beast standing on the other side of the door. His hair was damp from a shower, and he was sexy as hell.
“Christ,” he breathed.
“What?”
“You.”
“Me?” I touched my face because he was looking at me funny. “Is there something on my face? Dried drool or something?”
He chuckled. “Guess I’ll tell you, ‘cause unlike other bitches this won’t go to your head.” He paused while I frowned at him calling me a bitch. “You’re perfect. All put-together, just shy of Stepford put-together.”
“Just to let you know, this is about to go to my head and make it explode because me and Stepford in the same sentence is never a good thing.”
“Yeah, but with you, there’s warmth, and then first thing in the morning you have porn hair.”
“What?” I shouted.
“Babe, it’s a good thing.” He grabbed my hand and put it on his crotch. “A really good thing since it makes me this hard for you.”
I was never going to bed with wet hair ever again. Ever.
His eyes grew warm as he smiled. “You aren’t struggling.”
My eyebrows furrowed and he thrust his hips, forcing my hand to stroke him over his cargo pants.
“What do you mean?”
“You’re not trying to jerk your hand away. Does that mean you want to jerk me off?”
My God! He was right. Any other girl would struggle against a man putting her hand on his cock. Well, probably, I mean this was Beast. He wasn’t any man.
Now I was getting turned on. And that realization made me yank my hand away.
“Fuck. I hate that you’re married. Don’t know if your man is fighting to keep you, but now I see he’s damn sure got good reason to put up a fight.”
My eyes narrowed. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. He’s an asshole and only wants to keep up appearances.”
He openly eye-fucked me, and damn my body, I shivered, complete with my nipples puckering. “You were in my bed I’d fight. ’Course, if you were mine I wouldn’t give you reason to leave. Hell, what I’d give you, it’d be a miracle if you could walk, let alone walk away.”
Two doors slamming from the driveway broke the moment. “Shit! I’m not even dressed. You let Liar and Andrea in while I get some clothes on.”
A shit-eating grin spread on his face. “You’re right. I was too focused on your hair. Hot nightie. I could tell them to come back in an hour.”
I shook my head. “Don’t be an ass. No way am I giving Trent more leverage against me.”
“I’d be the one with the leverage, believe me.”
My eyes bulged. “No offense, but that would only complicate things. It’s not like there’s something between us.”
His face was stony. “Fun is never complicated in my world.”
My face relaxed as melancholy rolled through me. “I don’t live in your world.”
I suspected his regretful expression mirrored mine. “You’re right. You don’t.”
It was probably my imagination, but I would’ve sworn he cut himself off before he could say, “yet.”

Sol is a man whose past has created the man he has become. He is lethal, dark, and deadly. He will find his light while he is on a job that will get him vengeance for the loss he suffered as a young boy. He has a group of men around him that will stand beside him and kill for him, but are they all who they seem to be?

Moira is a young woman who has not seen kindness in her young life. Her mother abuses her and her father and brothers do nothing to help her or protect her. She is the oldest child, but she is also the black sheep of the family in their eyes. She is strong, deadly, ruthless and she is the light to Sol’s dark.

I liked this story and found the twists and suspense to pull me into the story. The story flowed so well, and it was action packed. The characters were all different and surprising in some ways. The darkness and the kindness of some of the characters were what made the story interesting. I have been enjoying the retelling of the tales in a dark and sinister way in The Sinister Fairy Tales collection. If you like stories with strong women, dark men, and deadly characters, you will love these books. I give this story a 4.5-star review and suggest you one-click it as soon as possible. It’s a fairly quick read and once you start reading it you may not want to put it down until the end.
