The darkness had eyes.

Sophie stepped into her bedroom with trepidation, tiptoeing forward, peering in. She was naked, she’d dried herself off after the shower, quickly towel dried her hair so it wasn’t a sopping mess, and tucked the towel around her. Then immediately ripped it off again. There was no need for modesty. And now, standing in the doorway to her bedroom, knowing he was in there, and that he was looking back at her… it sent a thrill through her. She immediately broke out in goosebumps from the thought of it, her heart thrumming with anticipation. She couldn’t see him though. She couldn’t see his eyes but she knew what they would look like. That hungry look again. He was so calm, so still, he barely moved, didn’t speak, but she knew what he was thinking. She knew what he wanted.

The darkness breathed.

She felt his hot breath next to her ear. It danced over her cheek. He stood beside her, she’d snuck into the room almost hesitantly, looking for him, seeing only darkness. He had turned the lights off and pulled the curtains closed.

And he’d waited for her. She felt his breath again. He must be standing mere inches from her. She could feel his presence now. The warmth, the magnetic pull of him called to her. Tracker is a tattoo artist and member of a 1% MC. He agrees to set up the rookie cop to see if he can get some inside intel on his club. It’s not a problem sweet talking the beauty into his bed, but he isn’t prepared for fall out that is to come.

Jolene has always wanted to follow in her four older brothers’ footsteps, her father’s too, but being the only girl in a southern family would hold her back. Her mama wanted a beauty queen, soft, kind, soft spoken and tiara owning beauty that she could brag about. It seems all the men in her life felt the same way. When she finally broke away from that and stood on her own, she had second thoughts about her decision. Perhaps it’s the guy that seduced her in the bar, or maybe the force she is a part of, but something isn’t sitting right with Joleen.

I loved this story. Tracker is a man that will do anything to protect his family by choice. His life hasn’t always been good, but it is now, and he is in a good spot in his life. The beautiful rookie cop is going to turn his world upside down and he has no way of stopping her. Jolene knows that Tracker is not going to be the choice her family wants for her, but her life is her own and she’s a grown woman capable of making her own decisions. When she runs into roadblock after roadblock with her co-workers regarding the drugs and overdoses in their small Florida town, she fights like crazy to keep her morals and justice as they should be, but is it a losing battle? Jolene is a sweet, strong, sassy, sexy woman that can put a man in his place with no problem, after all she grew up with four older brothers. This story is tragic, sexy, steamy, suspenseful, and full of heart. I give it a 4-star review.

Tink/Maggie/Goldilocks, President of the Devil’s Handmaidens MC, Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter. MC Princess, young woman whose world was turned upside down at the age of twelve, and then again at the age of eighteen. Now she’s determined to break up every trafficking ring she hears about and save those that were taken and forced into a life they never wanted. She has loving parents and sisters that will do anything for her, no questions asked. Even help her without her knowing it.

I really liked this book, and the characters. The story was tragic but with a happy ending. The characters are a little broken but have huge hearts and are bad asse’s in their own rights. With the large space in Montana and the ranches there is a lot of space to have animals, out buildings, protected space, and if needed space to house those that need saving or space to heal. Tink and her MC have the space to bring those they save and help them heal and move on if wanted. Tink needs to find Hannah so that her world can right itself. After so many years, she’s afraid of what she’ll find though. I enjoyed the story, and the introduction of new MC’s to read and get to know. This was my first read of a D. M. Earl book, but I liked her style and character development. I am anxious to read Shadow’s book as she is such a great character with so many sides. I give this book a 4-star review and look forward to reading more of D. M. Earl’s books.
