I knew falling for him was wrong. I did it anyway, his half smiles and blue eyes pulling me deeper.  Blue eyes that made me soar. He wasn’t mine to keep, though. And like all good and rare things, it came to an end.
Then he strolls into my life, armed with dimples and gray eyes. Gray eyes that ground me. He smashes through my defenses, stealing what is left of my heart.
Now my heart is a war zone, past and present battling for my forever.
They say lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice. I call bullshit on that theory.

Review – Darkest Deeds by Cora Kenborn @corakenborn @EJBookPromos

DarkestDeeds_Teaser3

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 out of 5

A story of a second, possibly third chance at love between an assassin and a Bratva Princess. Niko was pulled into the Bratva to pay for the sins of his father and then he was betrayed by the one woman who had his heart. Ava is the daughter of the leader of the Bratva, Sergei, but she’s not exactly treasured by her father. Niko was then taken in by Arthur and became an assassin in the Cavalieri Della Morte.

There were a few twists in this story of an assassin who is sent to do a job that he thought he wanted to do, but his heart isn’t in it. It’s full of betrayal and deception.

I liked this story and as the other Cavalieri Della Morte men, Niko is sexy, dark, and lethal. His deception to Sergei and Arthur could lead to his death, but he doesn’t seem to be worried about it. I highly recommend this story along with the other Cavalieri Della Morte stories to readers who like men that are deadly, dark, and believe that they doomed to be alone, until they find that woman who will bring them to their knees and cause them to betray the one man who could kill them and destroy their lives.

I loved Mikhail and his and Niko’s banter. They are both men that you would be afraid of if you ran into them in a dark alley, but their banter can be comical. Ava’s ability to get away from Mikhail is interesting for a man who should be lethal.

This book has a sexy cover as well.

ARC Review – Beauty in the Broken by Charmaine Pauls @GiveMeBooksPR and @CharmainePauls

Beauty in the Broken Now Live Teaser

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars

Wow! Such a great story, great characters, and beautifully broken characters. This story was so full of darkness, suspense, cruelty, and twists.

Damian Hart is a young man who grew up in poverty and when he finds a way to get out, he’s betrayed and sent to jail. While he’s there he has plenty of time to plot his revenge and when he gets out of jail, he puts his plan into effect. The only problem is that he only knows part of the story and what he knows, or thinks he knows is all wrong.

Angelina “Lina” Dalton-Clark is a woman whose life is not hers. She has been used by men her entire life and they have destroyed her. She no longer trusts anyone. She has no freedom and she can’t even make choices for herself. She’s been a pawn in her father’s life for as long as she can remember. All she wants is freedom, to make choices, liver her life, and have a normal life.

This book was so well written. There are so many twists and turns that I was surprised at every turn. The darkness of Damian and Lina’s relationship was so well written, and the story drew me in from the very first chapter and wouldn’t let go until the very last page. I was angry with both Damian and Lina for not communicating, although I understood their trust issues, it made me angry that they would not open up to each other. I loved both of them and wanted them to find their future, but I also wanted to shake them both.

This was my first read Charmaine Pauls and I don’t think it will be my last. I give this story a 5-star review and will be looking for more of Ms. Pauls books to read. This book is a mix of dark romance, BDSM, suspense and criminal activity, if you like books with those tropes, I would strongly suggest you purchase this book and read it. Make sure you don’t have to get up early the next morning, because you will not want to put this book down for anything.

Six years ago, Harold Dalton framed me for theft and sent me to jail to steal my diamond discovery. He gave his daughter to Jack Clarke in exchange for the excavation rights. Today, I’m free, and I’m coming for him with a vengeance. Six years of cruelty make beasts out of men. I’m going to take back what he stole from me, and more. I’m not interested in his properties or shares. I don’t want his small change. I want his biggest asset. Beautiful, mentally unstable, Angelina Dalton-Clarke.
Worth billions, she’s the wealthiest widow in the country, and also the craziest. Her self-harming tendencies had Jack declare her incompetent before he put a gun to his head and blew out his brains. Lina isn’t allowed to touch a cent of her riches. Her father manages her finances. He has all the signing power. As her husband, that chore will fall to me. But if she thinks I only want her for her money, she’s sadly mistaken.

Trailer
Excerpt
I push the button to close off the front of the car to the back of the car so we can have some privacy. “What’s wrong?” I ask.
“Nothing,” she mutters, averting her eyes.
I frown. “You’re looking at me …”
“I can’t look at you now?” she scoffs.
“You can.” I grab her chin and turn her head. “But not like that. Like you’re hiding something or think I’m the worst man in the entire world.”
“You are,” she says, smirking at her own savviness.
I lick my lips at her comment. “Worse than your father, who sold you to the first bidder?”
Her nostrils flare, and she looks away, blinking heavily. I know I touched on a sore point there, but it’s the truth, and she knows it. Her father couldn’t care less about her, explaining why she’s become such a stuck-up princess. Always trying to grab his attention and then right her wrongs when he wasn’t pleased. Her whole life revolved around making her family happy.
Well, not anymore. She’s mine now, and she needs to remember that.
“I’ll be good to you if you let me,” I murmur into her ear, and I press a kiss just below it. “If you’d just let me kiss you … fuck you … without fighting.”
“No way,” she hisses, but she still bites her lip as I place another kiss on her neck.
“You only say that because you think you should. Because you’ve been taught to act like a lady and defend against any immoral behavior. But you don’t have to with me. I want you to be immoral.” My hand slides up her knee between her legs to right where her soft spot lies. And she clenches her legs in response, her breath faltering. “Be sinful with me. It could be so fucking good.”

Two skeletons are discovered in the grounds of St Mary’s Choir School. This was not a centuries-old Christian burial. They are wearing modern-day clothes and there is evidence of foul play. Consecrated land has been sadistically violated.

He clashes with his slippery boss, DCI Sidney, who prioritises the force’s public image.

DS GEORGE (‘NOAKESY’) NOAKES
DS Noakes is a slobbish, uncouth and outspoken Yorkshireman, an object of despair to his superiors. He is, however, also a man of hidden depths, with a sensitive streak and a secret flair for ballroom dancing. Markham sees through his philistinism and they form an unstoppable partnership.
