Excerpt

“Quinn Miller? Is that really you?”

I turned, and my eyes landed on a face that I hadn’t forgotten. “Georgia Reed.”

Her lips parted in a smile that lit up her entire face, and she jumped from the stool she’d been perched on next to where my sister had been sitting and threw her arms around my shoulders. “I thought I saw you walk in earlier!”

I wrapped my arms around her waist and gave a quick squeeze before pulling back and looking her up and down.

I’d met Georgia last year at my best friend, Aiden’s, Christmas party. Her brother was a famous orthopedic surgeon who’d saved Aiden’s knee after a devastating hit. The two of them had forged a friendship, and Dr. Hampton Reed had brought his sister along when he’d been invited to the famous Shaw Christmas Party.

I’d seen her from across the room that night, unable to miss the gorgeous auburn hair that she’d let flow down her back. I’d walked over to introduce myself, but her green eyes had sparkled when she informed me that she already knew exactly who I was.

I wasn’t sure what I’d said after that, probably something ridiculous and cheesy, but we’d spent the rest of the evening chatting.

“How ya been?” I asked.

She stuck the straw that was floating in a pink drink between her pink lips and lifted a shoulder. After a quick sip of a fruity cocktail she said, “Same old. What about you? I heard you’d been traded and was hoping I’d run in to you sometime.”

I’d completely forgotten that the Reeds lived in Atlanta, where my new team was, but suddenly, that shitty trade that I was forced to accept didn’t seem so bad after all.

“Hey.” I glanced over to where my sister was eyeing us, her lips pressed together to conceal what had to have been the biggest shit-eating grin ever and squinted at her before turning and looking back to where Georgia was still sipping her drink. “You know, I don’t know much about this town. You’re a local, right?”

“That I am. Born and bred in the great state of Georgia. You know, my parents, they probably could have been a little more original when they named me.”

“Any chance you’re free this weekend to play tour guide?” I asked, hoping that I sounded fun and flirty and not like the pathetic loser that I felt like.

Jamie choked on a laugh and tried to cover it with a cough. I swung my head in her direction just as she covered her mouth and quickly looked away from my death glare. God, my kid sister was an asshole.

I felt fingertips on my bicep, forgetting my stupid sister immediately when I glanced down to see the perfectly manicured yellow fingernails that were resting on my arm. “Let me make sure I am clear on what you’re askin’.” Georgia’s eyes were gleaming, and she stepped closer to me. “Now, am I going to show you the popular clubs and bars, the parks to take your dog, and the restaurants that cater to locals, and then you’ll thank me and we’ll go about our ways? Or is this tour going to consist of me taking you back to my place, and before I know it, your lips are on my neck and my dress is around my waist?”

My mouth fell open and I sputtered. “I, uh, I, what?”

“Well, you know at Aiden’s Christmas party, after you kissed me––”

“Woah!” I stepped back, her arm falling to her side. “What are you talking about?”

Her head shook back and forth. “I’m not sure if I should be insulted or not that you are this clueless. We had a drink outside around the fire pit, and then you leaned in and kissed me, remember?”

“That is not at all what happened!” I fired back incredulously. I’d had a couple of beers that night, but I never let myself get so drunk that I would completely forget kissing the gorgeous woman standing before me.

She frowned, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, and I couldn’t stop my eyes from watching the way she worked it. No, I would most definitely remember if my lips had tasted hers. “It’s not? Are you sure?”

My eyes bugged out of my head. “I’m pretty sure we didn’t kiss. Think I would have remembered that.”

“Oh.” She frowned. “Maybe that’s just what I hoped would happen.”

Least of all the man who promised to stand by me through anything.

And the husband of the woman I allegedly killed?
He vowed for me to live in a hell on earth–and even then it wouldn’t be enough to atone for my sin.
His words rang in my ears every single day as life became an endless nightmare.

Until three years later new evidence was found.
And everyone believed my truth.

I might be free but I’m still part of a twisted game the monster is playing.

My Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 out of 5-stsrs

A.S. Teague did a great job writing this story. There is a hard subject in this book that she dealt with in a great way.

Quinn is a great guy, he’s kind, caring, loyal, and he has a secret that he doesn’t want to share because it involves his little sister and he doesn’t want to put her in a bad light. He’s been struggling with his career for the past couple of years and has been traded to the Atlanta Falcons. His life will change with this move and he will find more than he expected in Atlanta.

Georgia is the daughter of a Hall of Fame Football player, the younger sister of two brothers, and a strong-minded woman who will challenge Quinn and show him that life can be more than he ever expected. She will stand by him and pull him through some tough times.

I really liked this book and A.S. Teague did a great job writing it. The loyalty and commitment that Quinn has for his sister is commendable, but the support and caring that Georgia shows Quinn could bring him to his knees, but he also finds that no matter how hard he pushes Georgia was the stronger she will hold on and show him that she will be right by his side and help him through tough times and stand by his side always. I give this story a 4.5-star review. If you are a reader that enjoys sports stories, tough situations, strong women and men who will always protect the ones they love, then you will enjoy this story.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ Review of Brutal & Raw (Beneventi Family Book 1) by Sonya Jesus @HiddenGemsBooks @Sonya_Jesus

Brutal & Raw

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ 5 out of 5

Wow! The title of this book is so accurate! It’s brutal, raw, twisted, and very dark.

She hasn’t used her birth name in years. She hasn’t been an honest woman or the law-abiding citizen that one would think she is when looking at her. She looks so innocent and a woman that lives the straight and narrow, but she had to do what was needed to survive and it wasn’t always on the up and up. Now she finds herself in the most danger that she has ever been in and she is no longer called by a name but is referred to by a number. One fateful day she finds herself in a situation where she believes to be her lucky day. Little does she know that she’ll never be free or safe, no matter where she hides.

He took over the family business, by literally taking the position. He can’t let anyone know the secrets that have been hidden in his family or his life will be in danger, and not only his, but the two people who are closest to him as well. He has so many secrets in his life. He doesn’t trust anyone, not even his blood. The day he sees #327 his life starts changing and he still tries to hide things. She brings out a side of him that he never knew existed and it could get them both killed. He can’t let anyone know that side of him and #327 has a hard time with the two sides that she sees of Breaker Beneventi. He’s a monster, but he’s her monster.

This book was so dark and brutal, and it gave me some dark dreams, but I loved it. It was raw, dark, twisted, and oh so good to read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series so that I can find out what will happen. The intrigue of whether these characters will get out of danger and find a way to move on with their lives and have a semi normal life is strong. For as dark and dangerous as Breaker is, his inner battle with himself about his feelings for Lyla (Mercy; 327) have given a deeper look into who he is and if he is human. If you like dark, brutal, twisted stories, then you really need to one-click this one and read it. It’ll pull you in and leave you exhausted but it’s well worth it. I give this book a 5-star review and can’t wait for more of the Beneventi Family. This was my first book by Sonya Jesus, but I bought Thirty-One Kisses right after I read this one so that I could read Kelsey’s story.

Review of Snow: A Dark Mafia Romance (Colors of Crime Book 6) by Sophie Lark

Snow

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ 5 out of 5

She wasn’t raised in the bratva. Sasha was raised like a princess and went to school to become a doctor. She’s passed her exams is now ready to head home and find a job in a local hospital, maybe travel some when she can. Her family has always been pretty well off, they own a restaurant that has been in the family for a few generations. She’s excited to get home and share with her parents that she has passed her exams with great scores. However, when she returns home, she notices a lot of changes with her father, the restaurant, and their home. She may not have been raised in the bratva, but she is not naïve, she knows how they work, and she is very aware of danger when you owe them.

Snow is fighter, but he does not fight for anyone but himself. He has dreams of becoming legit and making a real name for himself. When he hears of a tournament that can get that much closer to his dreams he is determined to fight, even if his training is not sure that he’s ready for this tournament. He doesn’t want to fight for any of the bratva bosses because he doesn’t want to be owned by them. He fights a clean fight and he maintains his morals at all costs. When he first sees the young doctor at the tournament, he is drawn to her. He finds himself attracted to her and can’t seem to turn his back on her, he’ll put himself on the line to make sure that she is safe and free. It might cause him his life, but his determination could prevail too.

I love this story. These two are survivors and they are very protective of the people they care about in their lives. They will go through a lot of changes and will find the strength they both have deep inside to survive and they become stronger together. I give this story a 5-star review and recommend it to readers who enjoy mafia/bratva, suspense, women who find their strength when the people they care about could be in danger, and the men that will go to any extreme to protect the woman that steels their heart, as well as the people they are loyal to.

And there he was, showing off on his motorcycle like the cocky jerk I knew he would grow up to be. He pumped a glove-covered fist into the air when he crossed the finish line before he turned around and did a wheelie back down The Strip.
When he reached the end, he laid his front wheel down onto the asphalt and brought the rear of his bike up, pausing in midair. The crowd cheered for him, and he ripped his helmet from his head before pulling his handkerchief down and smiling at everyone around him.
Koah Saint.
The bane of my existence and the person who ruined my life. I hated him beyond the definition of the word. It was as though ten years hadn’t passed. I loathed him just as much as the day he destroyed my world.
I stood in place as the group I was with moved to gather around him. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Instead, I stayed put and glared in his direction.
As if feeling my burning stare against his skin, he turned my way, and his eyes connected with mine. His olive skin flashed white before his cheeks filled with heat, his dark brows pulled low, and he glared back at me.
He hated me too.
Good.
I wanted the feeling to be mutual.
He climbed from his bike without taking his eyes away from me, and then as if people weren’t crowded around him cheering, he started in my direction and left them behind. My spine and my shoulders grew stiff as I waited for him to reach me. I hadn’t seen Koah since the day he lied on my father and sent him to prison, and I knew being near each other wasn’t going to end well.
His eyes grew red, glowing with the type of fury he had no right to have toward me. If anyone had the right to be full of rage, it was me. He had turned my life into a tornado, ripping my possessions away before dumping me in the middle of nowhere with nothing.
He crossed his large, tattooed arms over his broad chest when he finally stood before me. He was no longer a young boy capable of lies and destruction. He had grown into something much more dangerous over the last ten years—something desirable and untouchable. My heart skipped a beat, and I chastised myself for even letting those thoughts run through my mind.
“Tori,” he said my name.
His voice was deep, reminding me once again that he was no longer a young boy.
“Koah.”
He shook his head. “It’s Saint.”
“I’m not stupid. I remember your last name,” I spat.
The side of his smooth, thick lips lifted, making the dimple in his cheek wink back at me.
“No one calls me Koah anymore. They call me Saint now.”
“They?” I asked.
“Everyone who knows me.”
I shrugged. “Well, I don’t know you.”
The grin slipped from his lips and his eyes hardened.
“No. You don’t. Not anymore, anyway.”
Lies.
Every moment we had when we were younger—the friendship and even the tiny crush I had on him—all of it was lies. He wasn’t a good kid who had been stuck in a terrible situation. He was the terrible situation—a bad boy with a nasty background. I knew about Koah and his past—the death of his mother and his murderous father. I didn’t know details, but I did know he and his family were a black stain on the world.
“I never knew you,” I responded.
His jaws grew tight, making the muscles in his cheeks pop, and his brows pulled lower.
Good.
I wanted to get under his skin. I wanted to crawl within him and destroy his nerves.
“What are you doing here, Tori?” he snapped. “Be careful. If anyone sees you, it might stain your rep.”
“Fuck you, Koah. Like I give a shit about having a reputation. I have real things to worry about.”
He pulled back as if I had offended him when I knew I hadn’t. “Woah. Little Miss Walsh barks back now.”
“Yeah, and my bite’s worst than my bark these days. Thanks to you.”
He chuckled. “In that case, you’re welcome.”
“Don’t,” I growled.
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t pretend like you did me any favors.”
“The world’s a cruel place, Tori. I’d say giving you thicker skin and a mean bite is a favor. You should thank me.”
My mouth popped open, and I gasped. The audacity he had to even think such a thing much less say it out loud. He had destroyed my life with a lie. He hadn’t given me anything but an angry heart, a lonely life, and a struggle to keep my head above water.
“Go to hell, Saint,” I hissed the name he now went by.
He moved closer, towering over me with his caramel-colored Hawaiian skin and dark eyes. Again, his jaw popped as he glared down at me.
“I went to Hell the second I saw your face again. Now do me a favor and leave.”

Koah Saint

Son of Sinister. Drug dealer. The number one stunner on The Strip and a BIG FAT LIAR.

They bow to him like he’s the holy grail, but I know he’s really the devil.

Since the day he was dropped on our doorstep, I’ve wanted him out of my life.

He’s a black stain on my memory and the one who put my father away.

Because of him, I’m flipping burgers instead of lying on beaches. To say he ruined my life would be an understatement.

Ten years later, I still can’t stand the guy, but even I can admit he’s sexy beyond belief. I won’t fall for his lusty looks and boyish charms. There’s nothing he can say or do to me to make me believe he’s anything but a lying playboy.

Or is there?

Review of Savage Heat (Royal Bastards MC) by K. L. Ramsey @KLRamsey5

RBMC banner copy 2

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5

Logan Savage joined the Air Force right out of high school and after the death of his mother, his only remaining relative was his older sister and she couldn’t talk him out of it. He served until he was honorably discharged after his chopper went down and he was injured. Now, he’s a scientist working for the Government, owns a bar, and is the president of the Savage Hell MC, a chapter of the Royal Bastards MC.

Bowie Wolfe is in the Army and has been watching Savage for about a week now trying to get up the courage to talk to him.

Dallas is a woman that went out with Savage for about a month, until he hightailed it and never spoke to her again. She was hurt and angry with him for how he treated her. When she sees him out at a bar almost a year later, she can’t keep the anger at bay and gives him the evil eye.

I liked this story. It has some danger, a lot of heat, and an MC that is family and has each-others backs. It also has a rival MC that causes them trouble and tries to take what they believe to be theirs but never was. I give the story a 4-star review. If you like MC’s, age difference relationships and non-traditional relationships, you should read Savage Heat. I look forward to the next story Roadkill.

I’m a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, “No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book.” I didn’t think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn’t already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven’t been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Coop is a man who has lived through hell and is damaged both physically and mentally. He has a daughter that he is overprotective of and he is member of Reed Security. His main priority is to keep his daughter safe from the world and the bad guys at all costs, however, those costs could make him lose his daughter unless he loosens his reigns on her. He has a girlfriend, but he has a hard time connecting with her and if he doesn’t get himself together, he’s going to lose her too.

Becca is a hacker that used to work for Reed Security but left them to work for an insurance company. She’s bored to death with her new job, but she’s afraid to take the leap to go after what she wants. She has a wild imagination and loves to search deep for answers. Her relationship with Coop is in danger of ending unless he can open himself up to her. She’s had all she can take and gives him an ultimatum. They are starting to work things out and get on track until one fateful night ruins their relationship.

I loved this book. The first part had me laughing at the comradery of the Reed Security guys and the antics and comments they make. It was light and funny, then BOOM! It changed and had me crying and wanting to scream at these guys. It went from light to dark and so intense. I hated to put it down, I needed to find out what was going to happen, who the bad guy was, and if things would ever be the same again. It was full of family support, suspense, twists, and intrigue and I loved every page I read. I give this book a 5-star review and need to make time to go back and read the others in the series. If you like men dangerous men who are a little paranoid, crazy, over the top protective, ex-military, and women are just as dangerous and crazy as the men, then you will love the Reed Security Group. Pick up one these books and read them, you won’t be disappointed. It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait for TNT.

THUG LIVE 1

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 out of 5

Two rival families that are fighting for the same area, however the Russian’s already own this side and the Irish want to do their business wherever they please. The Zolotov Bratva is not going to let them take any of their area and after they made them pay for the last time, and the Irish agreed to give them liquor in retribution, now they have deceived them, and it will not go unpunished.

Kirill Krasnov is the Enforcer of the Zolotov Bratva and he will make the O’Sullivan’s pay for their deception on the liquor they’ve been delivering. However, he is in for more than he bargained for when he confronts the delivery boy about the liquor being short.

Jo O’Sullivan has not had it easy. Being the youngest O’Sullivan has not had its rewards, she has three older brother who will fight for her and do whatever they can to protect her, but her father just doesn’t care. Her only escape is weekly deliveries on behalf of the family, but she has to wear a disguise to hide who she is.

I loved this book and the characters were great. Kirill is a dangerous killer that shows no mercy. The one time he does almost gets him killed. He is not a man to mess with and he will prove that to the O’Sullivan’s. He demands respect and he’s loyal to the Yury Zolotov and the Bratva. He does not accept disloyalty or deception. Kirill is battling a war inside to maintain his reputation, but also to claim the only woman that he could ever see himself spending his life with. They’ll have to fight a few battles, but it will be worth it in the end. I give this story a 4.5-star review and look forward to more on the Krasnov brothers, hopefully there will be books on the O’Sullivan brothers as well in the near future. If you like bratva, mafia, dangerous men, women who defy their men to prove their loyalty and try to protect them, or books with the battle of wills between the Hero and heroine, you will love The Russian Thug. It seems that Jo can’t keep herself out of trouble.

Trust In You

From the moment she met him, Ella Peterson had questions. As always, though, she’s too shy to ask.

Older and sexy as hell, mysterious Adam Brook soon sweeps sheltered Ella off her feet; but is he as perfect as he appears to be, or is there more to him than he’s telling her?
Ella’s world has already turned upside down after moving from England to rural Kansas. She and her sisters were hoping for a more secure future, but instead find that life can be tough when jobs are scarce and the stakes often higher than anticipated.
When events spiral out of Ella’s control, she learns the person she needs to rely on most is herself and her instincts on who to trust in the future.
It’s just that her instincts are screaming at her to trust Adam; it’s what he tells her that makes that a problem.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 out of 5

Ella is a young girl who has moved from England to Kansas with her three sisters, her niece and nephew, and her childhood friend. They are struggling to make a living and keep up with bills, groceries, and life. She has an idea to make money since only on sister was able to find a job so far. So, with her idea, she shows up at the local weekend market to sell eggs. She is shy, quiet, and naïve. She and her sisters find themselves in a bad situation due to their naïveté of how things work in the USA.

Adam is a man that has power, money and prestige. He’s also not all that he seems. When he sees the new young girl running a booth at the local market, he’s drawn to her instantly. He keeps his cool though and continues to his booth across the way. When he finally speaks to Ella, he doesn’t share much, and it causes all kinds of issues for these two.

I really enjoyed this story and hate to have it end. I have so many questions and really hope that Believe in Me comes out soon. The way the story is written it is suspenseful, intriguing, and entertaining. I was so drawn in that I wasn’t quite sure it was done when I got to the end. The teaser at the end has me anticipating the next book. This was my first read of Julia Firlotte and I really enjoyed her story. I give this story a 4.5-star review and recommend the book to readers who enjoy suspense, young girl with older man, or a story that will have you wondering what is going to happen to Ella next. The poor girl.
