Joker is a jaded man, he’s the enforcer for the Soulless Kings MC and he takes his job very seriously. When Widow brings home a stray from the bar, Joker’s sense are on high alert. The trouble is that it makes him a real jerk. He doesn’t trust women and when he sees Riley in the bar with Widow, he instantly doesn’t trust her. “My mother may not have raised me, but she taught me one hell of a life lesson at a very early age: women can’t be trusted.” Too bad he is pushed into watching her and trying to figure out if she’s lying or not when she tells the club why she’s hanging out there with Widow.
Riley is on the run. She’s a strong woman and can handle herself, but when her friends are threatened and she has no idea who is doing the threatening, she can’t stick around to see anyone else be hurt. She’s decided to leave the only place she’s known and try to get the person or people that are stalking her to leave her friends alone. Her path leads her to the Soulless Kings MC, and she has no knowledge of them or their lifestyle, so things are a bit interesting in the beginning. Then she has to convince a man that doesn’t trust her that she isn’t there to hurt his family.
I loved reading this book. There are a lot of crazy things going on and the MC isn’t sure where the threats are coming from. When they learn the truth and the danger reaches top levels, Riley’s life and longtime friendship are in jeopardy. There are other factors at play as well that could not only harm Riley, but Joker as well. Joker is the man that you hate, but then you fall in love with him when his vulnerable side comes out and he shows his soul. I wanted to punch in the beginning because of his crass, rude attitude, but then when his soft side came out, I wanted him to be mine. He may be grumpy, suspicious, and growly, but he’s also loyal, patient, and very sexy. I give this book a 5-star review and I am so looking forward to more of the Soulless Kings MC.
