⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He’s lost so much in his life that when he has everything he’s ever wanted in front of him, he’s afraid to take it. Barracuda has lost not one, but two women that he’s loved. He can’t have feelings for the woman that walked into the clubhouse a few weeks ago looking for his friend and “brother” Tank.

Rayna was just looking for Tank, her best friends baby daddy. She was not expecting to find a family and people that would take her and Willem in and protect them from the danger that could be waiting to find them. Willem’s mother, Mia, was killed in a hit and run accident, leaving Willem behind. Rayna and Mia were best friends for twenty years and now Rayna is left to raise Willem, the baby from a one-night stand.

Rayna is afraid of Barracuda. He’s hot, sure, but he’s also a brooding, imposing man that puts her on edge. However, she can’t deny the attraction to him and the want that she has to be with him. They drive each other crazy with their dependent, overprotective natures, but they have chemistry that can’t be denied. As with all of the RBMC books I’ve read, I loved Barracuda. His story was heart wrenching, and emotional, but it was so good. I loved his vulnerable side that he showed to Rayna and his protectiveness and big heart that he showed for both Rayna and Willem. The characters in this series are just as great as the others and I can’t wait to read more. I give this book a 5-star review. Winter Travers has an awesome ability to write MC romance with her H being protective, sexy, sweet, and loving and her h being, strong willed, funny, beautiful, and the ability to know when to let her man take care of her and take charge.

Guest Post: 📕Meet newly published author, Jennifer deBie 📕 @deBieJennifer

Good morning! Happy April! I am very happy to introduce a newly published author to you. Please meet Jennifer deBie, learn a little about how she started writing and see how she came to write Heretic.

How did I get started writing?

I honestly don’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be a writer. I come from a family of readers, and the power of a book, the absolute magic that comes with travelling to far off worlds and seeing distant skies without ever leaving your armchair was something I understood from a very young age. So if being an author, being a novelist in particular, is the closest I’m ever going to get to being a sorceress, empress, or goddess, I might as well become one. There is power in the written word, ancient magic that speaks to a legacy that spans generations, continents, and the whole of human history back to the stories our ancestors told on cave walls.

How could I not hunger to be a part of that?

As for this book, Heretic is my lockdown baby. I was born and raised in Texas, but I live in Ireland and in 2020, when the coronavirus hit Ireland, we got locked down hard. The only stores open were grocers and pharmacies, university students were sent home, everyone converted to work from home, and physical travel was restricted to a 5km radius around your house. It was bleak, and lonely being locked up tight so far away from my family.

I needed to get out of my own head and the four, badly painted walls of my flat, so I wrote a novel full of adventure and steam and blood and action. I made two characters with the kind of personalities that lend themselves to fun conversations and tossed them into the kind of situations that test a person’s mettle to the extreme, and then 80k words later I started sending my accidental novel to a few trusted beta readers, and six months after that started sending my manuscript out to publishers.

And now here we are, Heretic, the first entry in a dark/urban fantasy series titled The Hellmage Chronicles, released on March 30, 2022.

The blurb goes something like this:

The Hellmages, outcasts who feed on the deaths of friends, enemies, and each other, are shaking the earth, killing powerful mages, causing the kind of destruction the Mages’ Council was created to stop.

Siraj, a Lightkeeper who wields sunlight as a weapon and carries purification in his hands, is the only one who can meet with a Hellmage, find out who is upsetting the balance, and walk away unscathed, but there’s a problem.

The Hellmage he meets doesn’t know the earthshaker and magekiller either, but now she’s curious and if there’s anything worse than a curious Hellmage, it’s one who doesn’t fear being burned to death by a Lightkeeper’s touch.

You can read the first chapter here.

Thanks guys!

Please sign the Petition: Change Amazon Return Policies for Completed E-books: Protect Authors from Theft!

For those that haven’t heard, there’s a new trend going around on TikTok where Booktokers and readers are educating each other on how to read our books for free.

How?

Abuse Amazon’s relaxed return policy and return a book that’s fully been read within the 7 day window, whether they’ve enjoyed the book or not.

Many of these readers have convinced themselves this is okay because Amazon allows it, and what’s the big deal anyway? The author can afford to lose that profit. It’s our problem, not theirs.

Sadly, it’s a lot more complicated than that. Amazon charges a delivery fee for each ebook delivered, and whether that book is returned or not, they keep that fee. Reading an entire book and then asking for your money back just because you can is as bad as downloading a free ebook from a piracy site.

Each book takes between $1000-$5000 to produce, and 98-99% of authors are considered lucky if they bring in $100 in royalties every month.

Many authors write because they love the stories, not because they are actually making money doing so. And, of course, many do it with the dream of some day making it big and doing it full time.

For many authors, losing that book profit, plus the delivery fee Amazon keeps, equals a negative total in royalties every month. This trend has caused most authors who saw between 1-3 returns a month, at most, to now see anywhere between 40-100 returns.

Amazon doesn’t allow movie returns past 48 hours, or returns for movies that have been fully watched. Thanks to the Kindle Unlimited platform, they have the means to see whether a book has been fully read or not. Which means they have the power to stop this abuse once and for all.

It’s one thing to allow readers to return fully read books, but to also keep the delivery fees of that book?

It’s putting us in an unsustainable corner.

If you could find it in your heart, please sign the Change.org petition asking Amazon to change their ebook return policy to better protect authors from this TikTok trend. It’s already gotten almost 15,000 signatures from readers like you that understand why abusing this system is unfair, and every single new signature counts.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post and help us out with the petition!

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞?

I was born a princess of the Celtic Reapers MC, but I’m definitely not royalty. I’m abused, tortured, and broken, desperate to escape.

I have two choices. I can stay with my childhood sweetheart, Jamieson aka Whiskey, who abandoned our plans for freedom when he patched into the MC. Or, I could win my freedom and live my dream life with loveable, sexy, tech geek Kellan.

But when I fall pregnant, my whole life changes and I’m forced to make painful decisions.

This is not your typical love story. It’s messy, it’s real, and it’s heartbreaking. This is the story of how you make an impossible choice. I’m Shayla Callahan, and this is my story.

Author Note – this is a dark mafia romance that features themes which may be triggering for some people. If you would like more details please contact: emmalunaauthor@gmail.com

From the moment I was born, I was destined to be a Death Hound. Tragedy tore me from my family at an early age and cast me into a reality so dark, I contemplated ending it all. But my club brought me back from the edge, fostering my dreams and giving me a new lease on life. Years later, with secrets from my tormented time threatening to pull me back into the abyss, the innocence of a child kept me hanging on.

In finding her family, I discovered a beautiful woman who understood that in darkness, light could be found. She understood me like no one else had, but her life was complicated, full of despair and loneliness on a level I couldn’t comprehend. Every day, she fought her own demons.

When the nightmares returned, pulling her into a world of depravity and pain, I found a part of myself that I didn’t know existed. I never asked to be a protector, but no one deserved to live in fear. So, I would walk through hell to save her.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴?

My name is Liam Doughty and I’m a hit man.

All I wanted was to get what I was owed. I carried out the hit as I was hired to do by Irish Mob boss, Vernon O’Keenan. It’s not my fault they found out too late that they had the wrong man. All I wanted was my money. I thought I could kidnap the Mafia Princess Brianna O’Keenan and get the ransom money. What I got was so much more!

Ruthless, feisty, and incredibly sexy, she’s far from the timid daddy’s girl I was expecting. Bree has her own agenda. She wants to dominate in a world ruled by men. I have no doubt she can do it, but she will need my help. Her family rules state only males can run the business. So, Bree proposes we get married. She gets to rule, and I get more money than I ever dreamed of.

Two dark, evil worlds collide when we agree to our black wedding. We will fight each others enemies and come out on top. But what happens if we develop real feelings and we realise our wedding wasn’t all that black?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5

Liam is a man with morals and decides on his own jobs, he doesn’t want to be associated with his family, but make no mistake, the man will make you pay if you double cross him.

Bree is the mafia princess, but not many know the real Bree. She can be ruthless, dangerous, and very determined. You do not want to double cross her either.

Liam and Bree have a very unusual meeting and courtship, but in the end, they are made for each other. Liam believes in Bree and she in turn finds that she trusts him. Their families are bit messed up, but that’s to be expected when you are dealing with power hungry men that believe that women are lower than them and can’t be as powerful. Boy do these guys have a thing or two to learn, and Bree is more than willing to be their teacher. Good book, good story, and I liked the characters, but there was just something lacking for me, I’m not sure what it was. This was my first read of anything by Emma Luna, and I would like to read more of her Beautifully Brutal books in the future. I give this book a 4-star review.

Review of Voodoo’s Sorceress (Dublin Falls’ Archangel’s Warriors MC, Book 17) by Ciara St. James

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Voodoo is still unsettled. After his club brothers felt betrayed by his omission about his brother, he is still struggling to feel as though he fits in with the Dublin Falls’ Archangel’s Warriors. The brothers have tried to make up for their show of distrust and prove to Voodoo that he is a part of the club and family, but the tension is still there.

Voodoo is ready to make his final decision about moving on or staying when one of the prospects receives a call from his aunt about his cousin being in trouble and in the hospital. Voodoo rides out with the prospect and a few other brothers to go see what’s going on and help to protect the prospects cousin. That one trip throws all of Voodoo’s problems out the window because when he lays eyes on the beauty laying in the hospital bed, his only thoughts are with her.

Nevaeh has had a lot of men problems and now she’s in a hospital bed because someone attacked her outside of her apartment. She has no idea what happened or who her attacker was, but everyone else around her believes it is the man that caused her so much trouble before that she had to go to his father to help her. She doesn’t look her best to receive visitors or meet her cousin’s MC club brothers, but she has no choice when they arrive at the hospital.

I loved this story. It was raw, gritty, haunting, tragic, and so well written. Voodoo had a rough childhood, and he is carrying so much pain that it affects his relationship with the club and Nevaeh as they begin to get to know each other. Just like his club brother’s Voodoo knows as soon as he meets Nevaeh that she will be his, but now he has to convince her of that. Nevaeh and Voodoo have a lot to overcome and heal from but by each other’s sides they can heal and move on with their lives. I loved the book, characters and as always, the series! The men and women of the DFAW and the HCAW as well as their club friends are always a great story to read. I still wonder how Ciara St. James can make each book so much better than the previous one when they are all so great! I give this book a 5-star review and wait not so patiently for the next book by Ciara to hit my Kindle, it doesn’t matter which series it’s from.

Review of Deceive Me: Broken People Duet, Book 1 by Vi Carter @authorvicarter @jennw23

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

From poverty to power. Jared’s life didn’t start out with much or in a loving home, but as a young teen, he’s now a young man that comes with power and prestige because his father is a man that gets what he wants. Before Jared went to live with his biological father, he was living in a home full of violence and terror. The young girl that he protected in that home became very important to him, until one day when he found her and was not there to protect her. After that day he never saw her again, never heard from her, and couldn’t find her even when he had the money and resources to do so.

Layla feared for her life and her innocence living in the foster home. She was happy to have Jared there to protect her when he could. That one day when no one could protect her and she was broken and beaten though was the day that she found safety and love. She looked for Jared and asked for help in finding him, but no one could locate him for her. Seven years later and the one boy that she could never forget is within her sights again, but he’s not the same Jared she new and loved.

I really liked this story. The characters are damaged, scared, and seeking the one person that understands them and can make them whole again. I am not generally a fan of dark bully stories, but this one was not that bad. While Jared is angry and hurt, he is not as cruel as he could be to Layla. I loved the story and am excited to read Save Me, the second book in the Duet. I give this story a 5-star review.

Review of Eternally Mine: RBMC, Tonopah, NV Chapter by Nikki Landis @EJBookPromos @landisnikkiauth

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He’s a prospect in the Tonopah, NV Chapter of the RBMC, but he had prospected for a rival MC previously, but he never wanted to be in the other MC. Now he’s in a better club and around people that care about him. He made a promise to his best friend the night his life turned sideways, and he plans to keep that promise, but from afar. He’ll protect Laramie forever, even if it’s from himself as well as the devil that took her brother and left Toad for dead as well.

This story is a holiday novella that is rife with danger, tragedy, and a wonderful story of two people that found each other when they should never have been together, but the heart wants what the heart wants. It never discriminates against, friendships, chosen family, or age. I love that Toad gets his HEA and a wonderful family to protect him, care about him, and stand beside him when he needs it most. I give this story a 5-star review and am excited for more of the RBMC books, especially the Tonopah, NV Chapter. I love Grim and his Reapers.
