Blog Tour Stop Day Two: Times like these (Inspector Marco #4) by Stephen Puleston @books_n_all @Inspector_Marco

A grotesque killing. A killer without mercy and out for revenge. Can Inspector Marco capture the madman before he exacts his final act of vengeance?

The death of Frank Armsby is no ordinary hit and run especially when his links to organised crime suggest a gangland killing. But two failed prosecutions of Armsby for rape and a recent case where the charges were dropped paint a different picture.
When a man is brutally killed in a sadistic attack nothing immediately suggests that both deaths are connected. Detective Inspector Marco is convinced that one killer is at work despite the pressure from his superiors to believe otherwise.

Once an executive in the TV world is found dead in his luxury apartment Marco and another body turns up brutally mutilated Marco is more determined than ever that a single killer is at work.

When he finally determines the culprit, a kidnapping has taken place and Marco has a race against time before the victim is killed.

I write crime fiction based in Wales and about Wales. The rural landscape of north Wales provides the backdrop to the Inspector Drake novels. And Cardiff the capital of Wales provides the setting for the Inspector Marco novels set in a modern urban environment.

I love the novels of Raymond Chandler, Ian Rankin, Mark Billingham, Henning Mankell, Val McDermid – the list could go on! And I enjoy watching detective series on the television the recent Hinterland series based near Aberystwyth in Wales was great. One of my favourites is the French series Spiral but The Bridge and Broadchurch and the Rebus series with Ken Stott and Kenneth Branagh in Wallander are great too.

I have been on writing courses at the Welsh Writers Centre in Llanystymdwy, North Wales tutored by Matt Whyman and Marcus Sedgwick as well as crime writing courses with Peter Robinson and Andrew Taylor at the Scottish Writers centre.

I was born in Anglesey an island off the north Wales coast and after leaving school in Holyhead I went to University in London before training as a solicitor/lawyer. I practised in a small family business doing criminal work in the magistrates and crown courts, divorce and family work.
I still live on Anglesey, North Wales near the beach and the mountains of Snowdonia

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

I love a crime and suspense story that holds my mind captive while trying to find the criminal in the story. This story did that through the entire book. At first, I thought it was one character and then I thought it was another, but I did not entirely suspect the correct criminal. I had a feeling I was correct, but then something would come up and I would discount them. A story like this keeps my interest entirely and makes the book so much better for me. I love Detective Marco and Lydia, they are a great team, and they respect each other. This shows towards the end of the book when Detective Marco is having a difficult day. He may be Lydia’s superior, but they have a mutual respect and a great working relationship.

Detective Inspector John Marco is called to a murder scene while he is in the middle of a Taskforce Forum for Domestic Violence. He knows that the speaker, Chief Superintendent Harper, did not appreciate interruptions while he was talking, but Marco also knew that he needed to go to the scene as he would be the lead investigator. He has multiple scenes throughout this book and a few will hit him, Lydia, the CSI Team, and the Coroner pretty hard. This case would be a tough one for DI Marco as the scenes that he has to go to are brutal and depraved, and little to no leads as to who they are looking for.

This story was intriguing and dark, but it was a great read. It pulled me in early on and the suspense and intrigue kept my attention through the entire book. DI Marco is a man that looks at all angles to find his suspect and he has a hard time curbing his snarky side, but he works on it. Lydia seems to be worried at times as to how he will react and respond to some situations. I loved the story and I love the characters. I give this book a 5-star review and look forward to more DI Marco stories. Hopefully there will be more with Alison Swan as well.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Wow! This story definitely had a plot twist to it that I did not see coming! I loved it.

The Underground Kings are brothers and family by choice. They may get irritated with each other and want to be left alone at times, but they are loyal to each other and love each other unconditionally, the way a family should. However, these men have been accused of crimes they did not commit, and they have been treated as criminals because of it. They all have a rough past and want retribution for the time they have done because of someone else. Owen accepted his punishment and was ready for more, but he was saved by Jaxon when he walked out of prison. He then became a part of a family that would have his back at all times, few questions asked.

She found her way out of a bad life after she finished high school and was making a good life for herself until one day when she ended up being a captive to a monster. She doesn’t even know how long she has been captive, but one thing is for sure, she can’t let this monster win. She has to fight back and get away. Jolie had a path in life that took her from the dead-end family that she was unlucky to be born into. She wanted to go to college and become an accountant. She was on the right path until she wasn’t any longer because of one monster’s path.

This story is tragic, dark, twisted, action packed, suspenseful and such a great read. I have loved the Underground Kings all along the way, but I think Owen’s story may be my favorite so far. I think I may have said that after each story, but Owen and Jolie’s story broke me. Owen has always been such a stoic character and reading his story and seeing a whole other side of him, I love him even more now. Jolie is a strong woman in so many ways. She fought so hard and is such a great character. She’s perfect for Owen and they really complete each other and make each other stronger. I can’t wait for Heaven’s story. I love this series and cannot get enough of these characters. The women are strong, funny and great for their partners. I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it and I look forward to more.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He’s old enough to be her father, but she can’t deny the attraction she has to him. He’s strong, sexy, kind, and caring. Murder has showed her more kindness and caring than her own father ever had. Alexa was raised to be perfect and not disappoint her parents. She’s done the best she could for seventeen years, now she just needs to get away from them and their rules. She finds herself in a bad situation and has no one to turn to for help or safety. The only person she can think of is her best friend’s father, the President of the Royal B’s MC in Charleston, WV, but he’s also a man that she is attracted to.

He knows that she is trouble the first time he lays eyes on her. His daughter shouldn’t be hanging around with her, they’re not even the same age. James “Murder” is a man that is not happy in his marriage and wants his daughter’s best friend. He couldn’t curb his temptation and now these two have a bigger secret than before. The trouble is that can’t be together, James has to try to make his marriage work. It isn’t easy and he has convinced himself that he will never have the woman he loves and will have to watch her find someone to make her happy.

I had not read Lady and the Biker before starting this book, but after reading the note from Ms. Maynard that it would be best to read these books in order, I purchased Lady and the Biker and read it first. I am so happy I did too. This story is a continuation of that book and I would have been a little lost at first had I not read the other book first. The Charleston, WV chapter of the Royal B’s MC have had to rebuild over the years after Murder took the presidency and they have done well. This story shows that not everything is great for the MC, there is betrayal, twists, action, secrets, and eventually, an HEA. There are some crazy characters that are crazy and made me want to scream and tell Murder that he was crazy for thinking things would go as he planned. Did he not know the people that he was living around or with for so long? I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait for more of the RBMC Charleston, WV characters to have stories. I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend the book as well as the series. These men are dangerous, sexy and very possessive.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Ryder (Steel Shadows Investigations) by Amanda McKinney #TuesdayBookBlog

I killed a man.
Paid ten years of my life for it.
Then she blew through my front door, all train wreck and temptation.
A broken soul . . .
an invitation to danger.

Photographer by day, Ben and Jerry’s enthusiast by night, Louise Sloane isn’t known for her organizational skills or obsession to detail. But when someone from her past goes missing, she makes it her mission to solve the case—especially when the mystery becomes linked to the notorious serial killer, the String Strangler. During one of the worst snowstorms on record, Louise sets off to the small Southern town of Berry Springs, bulldozing her way not only into the investigation, but also into the home of a reclusive former inmate with eyes as cold as ice.

Ryder’s one goal in life is to be left alone. A desire unacknowledged by the five-foot-two-inch train wreck who breaks into his house in the middle of the night. He wants nothing to do with her and all her curves—until she uncovers his secrets and unearths a link to the past that changed his life forever.

As boundaries are shattered and relationships are questioned, a body is found on Ryder’s land, and it becomes apparent that the killer is closer than anyone realized. With his freedom on the line, Ryder must risk going back to prison or losing Louise forever.

RYDER is a standalone romantic suspense.

Purchase Link: https://bit.ly/RyderSSInvestigations

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

A story that is heartbreaking, has betrayal and twists and a woman with determination to find the person behind the murder of her friend.

Ryder lives a very quiet life. He likes his house minimal, clean, and quiet, so when he finds an intruder in the middle of the night, his world will be turned upside down and sideways by one small woman. He has no idea what is in store for him when he allows Louise to stay with him because she can’t find a room anywhere in the vicinity.

Louise is a quirky woman that has no path in life except for her photography business. She loves to take pictures, and she’s good at it, but she isn’t really happy with her life. She is disorganized, loyal, and determined. When a friend comes up missing, Louise organizes a search for the young woman and when the local authorities deem her friend to be less important than a local, Louise is determined to find her friend and get justice for her, she has no concept of the danger she could be in while doing this. When she stumbles upon and breaks into a house sitting on the hill on a large piece of land in the middle of the night, she finds herself in a cold, dark, minimal house.

I loved this story. It has so much in it. A quirky woman, a man that has been shunned by his town, danger, twists, betrayal, and suspense. It is full of action, and great characters. Louise is a woman on a mission and has no sense of the danger she has put herself in on more than one occasion, Ryder is a man who has lost so much already and just wants to live his life in peace and quiet, but that won’t be possible once he finds Louise. These two are complete opposites, but they are great together. I give this story a 5-star review and whole heartedly recommend it to readers that enjoy suspense, danger, investigators, quirky women and twists in their stories. This was my first read of the Steel Shadows Investigations series, but not my last for sure. I love Ms. McKinney’s books and she did not disappoint in this one.

Review of Menace’s Siren (A Dublin Falls Archangel’s Warriors MC Novel, Book #4) by Ciara St. James

Possess and worship, his deepest desires

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

These bikers are tough and loyal, but their women can match them no doubt. The women are just as tough as the men and if they weren’t, they wouldn’t fit in with the big, bad bikers.

Menace wasn’t looking for his forever, but after watching his president and other club brothers find their women and their lives were so much fuller and happier, he thought maybe he was ready for that too. After all, they weren’t getting any younger and being a biker was hard on a man anyways. These bikers were not the worst outlaws, they are retired military and they do what they can to help out their town and community. When Menace laid eyes on the beautiful masseuse that was angry and walking down the hall at the spa, he was taken with her immediately. He wanted her for more than a hit it and quit it, but he has his work cut out for him to convince her of it.

Alannah is an independent woman that works three jobs, is going to college to be a nutritionist, plus works her grandmothers farm with her. She moved back to the area when her grandmother got sick to help her out and take care of her. It was the least she could do for the woman that raised her since she was seven years old and showed her the only love she received. She loves what she does and is not a woman to sit around and do nothing, so working all the time keeps her busy and gives her little time for a personal life. However, when she lays eyes on the sexy biker standing in the hallway, her mind takes her places she never thought about before. The trouble is that no one has ever stayed around her long enough that she could let herself believe a sexy biker would. The only one that ever stayed around and took care of her was her grandmother, Ms. Marie.

I love these books and they keep getting better with each story. The characters are great, the women are sexy, sassy, and strong and keep their men on their feet at all times. They don’t let anyone hurt them and they will protect the men in the MC as fiercely as the men will protect them at all costs. Menace is a bit older than Alannah, but they are made for each other and will have to overcome some problems before they will get their happily ever after. This book is full of actions, twists, turns, and suspense and that along with the heat between these two keeps the pages turning and the steam factor rising. I loved this book and give it a 5-star review. I purchased Ranger’s Enchantress right after reading this book so that I can keep up with the characters. I can’t wait to carve some time out of my schedule to read it. It looks to be as hot and action packed as the others have been.

Review of Pretty Evil New England: True Stories of Violent Vixens and Murderous Matriarchs, by Sue Coletta @rosieamber1 @SueColetta1

Fractured minds or women without hearts? Quiet killers. What makes a woman kill?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

Wow! This was an interesting read. I enjoy Ms. Coletta’s fiction stories and this was my first read of a true crime story by her. I always find her stories to be intriguing and entertaining and she never disappoints.

I have always thought of women serial killers to be more passionate about their victims and this book showed a couple of more sides to the killers themselves. The reasons behind their killings as well as the relationships with their victims.

It has always intrigued me as to the character and disposition of someone that can take a life. If I think about it, I consider most killers to be killers of passion, someone that kills due to anger, love triangle, or wrong place, wrong time, but a serial killer has a completely different mindset, of which I have not ever thought of. Ms. Coletta has now opened my eyes and my mind to this with Pretty Evil New England. The women in this book that were accused of being killers are a range in age, societal standing and temperament. Most are women with families.

Jane Toppan is a woman with a mind of steel but with shards as far as I can surmise. What brings her to determination to kill? How has she picked her victims? She has a line of deaths behind her but unfortunately, some of those deaths will never be solved because she wouldn’t share them with anyone.

Lydia Sherman is a woman that is hard to read. She’s a woman that has been married a few times and doesn’t seem to have any real love for anyone. She has no discern for her victims, even though she may show a soft side in public, her actions behind closed doors are not as kind and soft. Does she kill because she does not like to be the one to have to support her family, or does she do it because she can?

Nellie Webb is a young woman that would not generally be a suspect. She’s young and kind. However, there is another side to her. What happened to Nellie, did she stop killing, did she change her name and live a full life, or did she just disappear?

Sarah Jane Robinson, on the outside she appears to be a loving, caring, kind sister, mother, and person, but she has a sinister side to her, and she has no problem using her womanly wiles to her advantage.

Harriet Nason is not a woman that has a lot of friends, she is probably the one killer in this book that people would suspect as being sinister. She keeps to herself and her immediate family, she’s distant from her community with only a few close friends.

I find it interesting how the mind works and have always been interested in the mind of criminals. I want to know what makes them tick and why they have the desire to be the person they are. While most people have morals and standards of right and wrong, what causes a killer to have their own standards and the desire to kill? Is it due to their upbringing, their childhood due to trauma, or is just because their mind works differently? I also find it intriguing that some of these women believed and vocalized their innocence until the very end, and that some of them walked away without any repercussions. In the time period of these stories, society saw women as being the nurturing, caring, kind human and men as being the violent, cruel, hard human. This was one mistake that led to the mishandling of some of these cases, in my eyes. Women are vicious, dangerous, and more deceptive than some people realize. I love that Ms. Coletta delved into these stories and told them. She’s a great storyteller, whether it be fiction or true crime. I live in New England and these stories were close to home. While this was my first read of one of Ms. Coletta’s True Crime Novels, it won’t be my last. She makes me think and opens my mind to intriguing stories. I have always had an interest in crime stories, and she feeds that interest in her writing of fiction and true crime. I look forward to more and give this book a 5-star review.

EXCERPT

“John,” Daniel spoke up, “she’s only here for a bit, and for now she’s confined to here and town. We’ll get Davie or Dell to drive her around when she needs to come and go. Frank just wants her out of Washington for a while until the dust settles on the trial.”
“Why do I have the feeling there is more to this story than I’m being told?”
Frank smirked and hit my arm playfully. “Because there’s always more, son.”
I rolled my eyes, and Daniel chuckled.
“Be nice, John.” Savannah poked her head around the corner.
“I’m always nice.”
“You can be, but you also can be a bit cold too.”
I pointed at her, and Daniel shrugged like he agreed.
I wasn’t cold, I was quiet. People misunderstood that about me.
“Would you mind meeting with her tonight?” Frank jumped in. “She’s down at Tin House getting settled.”
“Yeah, okay. But I would be kinder,” I glared at Savi, “if you gave me something on her.” Frank closed his eyes before he spent the next three minutes giving a tiny rundown of who she was to him.
I headed outside and started to jog down the pathway. The cold wind made me hunch my shoulders. Winter was quickly taking over the crisp nights of autumn. We were warned this winter was going to be harsh, and nights like this proved it.
Once I got to the steps, I swallowed back the urge to turn and head back up to my peak and ignore the rest of the world. It was my little oasis and one no one could touch or take away from me.
The last twenty-four hours had been shit, and the idea of discussing it with some citified- privileged lawyer didn’t sound like a good time.
With a deep breath that felt cold in the lungs, I knocked on the door.
“Come in,” a muffled voice called.
I stepped inside to see a woman bent over a box. I closed the door, and when I turned back around, she was balancing a stack of files.
Wait?
I looked around, confused at who I was seeing.
“I’m here to see Sloane Harlow.” I jolted forward to grab the papers just as they began to slip off the top stack. Slipping my arms under hers, I took the stack and put them on the table.
“Thank you.” She pushed her hair off her face, and I couldn’t help but stare. Her indigo blue eyes latched on to mine. She was shorter than I was, and if she removed her heels, she’d probably only come up to my shoulder.
“Agent Black?”
“Yes, and you are?
“Sloane Harlow.”
“Son of a bitch,” flew from my lips. Fucking Mark.
“Are you calling my mother a bitch?”
“No.” My eyes popped out of my head at the realization that it sounded like I had insulted her.
She smirked playfully. “Good.”
“It’s just, Mark said you were…” I stopped myself again. Why was I talking out loud about this?
“I was what?”
“Just, ah,” I stumbled and felt like an ass. “Nothing. Sorry. He’s just a—”
“A son of a bitch,” she finished for me with a chuckle.
“Yeah,” I chuckled.
“Now that we have that cleared up, why don’t you take a seat?”
“Sounds good.”
Oh, yeah, that was a great first impression. Savi will have a field day with this.

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

John has it in his head that he does not deserve a life or happiness, so he lives his life working for Blackstone and climbing to his peak. His family hasn’t been the same since his twin sister Elle’s accident and he blames himself for it. He will drop everything to be there for his parents and his twin, but when he’s away on an op, it’s not as easy. He hasn’t shared this with his team because it’s his burden to carry. What he doesn’t realize though is that his team would drop everything to help him and his family as well. When an op goes bad and a lawyer is brought in to look at the situation to help figure out what’s going on, John discovers that there may be a happy life for him after all. He just has to overcome his issues and find his way.

Sloane Harlow is a lawyer that needs a place to hide out for a bit after losing a case. She doesn’t believe that she is in danger, but Frank and her father believe otherwise. Besides the fact that Frank is the one in charge of Blackstone and a family friend, he wants to protect Sloane, but he also wants her help in figuring out how the Cartel keeps one step ahead of Blackstone and Team North Rock in Mexico. They’re losing team members and it’s becoming a dangerous situation for the teams when they go on ops. They need answers and Sloane digs until she finds them.

All of the Blackstone men are sexy as heck and loyal. They are a family that plays hard but work hard as well and live dangerously. The Blackstone family is large and growing. When you prove yourself to these men and women you are part of the family for life. John has lost a lot in his life but when Sloane comes into his life, he sees so much more for himself. It may take him a bit to figure it out and let her in, but it is so worth the wait. I have loved all of these stories and John’s story was no different. I had a hard time putting it down, I was so afraid I’d miss something. I needed to know what was going to happen and only put it down at 2:30 in the morning when my husband told me I needed to go to bed. I love the family shenanigans, the strong bond these characters all have together and the Furby incidents. I’m going to miss him too. I give this story a 5-star review and would give it five more if I could. I love Ms. Drake’s stories she has a knack for writing books that draw you in and hold you hostage until the final page. I can’t wait for more stories from Ms. Drake, she’s one of my one-click authors for sure!

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Faked (Sinners of Boston, Book 3) by Vanessa Waltz @VanessaWaltz @HiddenGemsBooks

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

He’s the interim head of the Costa family while his uncle does time in prison. He’s ruthless, domineering and a player. His cousin is his best friend but also a high-ranking member of the family. He has a lot of baggage that he carries, and when he finds himself in a dire situation, he will make a decision that will turn his world upside down. Vinn Costa is a man that prides himself in thinking first before he reacts, but Liana tests his mind and his resolve like no else ever has. Liana and Vinn grew up together and she has loved him since she was four years old. The only problem is that he never figured it out and now that she is a grown woman and she’s been promised to the president of Legion, he finds that as the head of the family now, he has the right to step in and make the decisions of who she will be promised to and he doesn’t want her with anyone but him.

Liana’s eyes were opened about Vinn as she got older and she now knows that he is not the man she loved as a girl. That man is gone and the man that she is faced with now is dangerous and has a black heart. However, when he steps in and saves her from being taken by the president of Legion, she finds that her will and mind will be tested because now they have to pretend that they are a couple, or they will both be dead. She has to fight for what she wants, and she isn’t sure that her heart can take it. When the reality of their situation sinks in, she’ll find that her life has been turned upside down and that maybe their lie isn’t a lie. These two have a lot to overcome and a lot of danger to avoid if they want to have a life, but when they finally figure out that they were meant to be together, their lives are seriously in danger and one of them may not make it out alive. I loved Vinn and Liana’s story and I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Sinners of Boston series by Ms. Skye.

EXCERPT

Asher took over the kiss, brushing his lips over hers in a tantalizing slow rhythm that coaxed her into following. Slowly his lips parted hers, and his tongue stole into her mouth, seducing hers into a dance. She felt the sensations flow down her neck, into her chest, and tighten her nipples. She rubbed her breasts against his chest, trying to find relief.
Is that me whining?
Ash’s fingers tangled in her hair, tipping her head in a way that allowed for a deeper kiss. She felt his heartbeat against her chest and beneath her fingers at his neck. He nipped at her lips, forcing her to open wider so that their breaths could mingle, and he could tempt her with a thrusting tempo, one that would be even more satisfying if it wasn’t just his tongue and a kiss.
She moved her hands and scrabbled for the hem of his t-shirt.
“Shhhh, slow down,” he soothed.
“No.” She thrust her palms under his shirt and sighed with pleasure when she met with the hot hard planes of his stomach. It was like touching hot velvet steel, only better, because it was Asher. She needed more. She pushed up higher and then groaned as her fingers delved into his chest hair.
“God, Asher.”
“Eden, you don’t mean this, Honey.”
She tugged at his chest hair to punish him for denying her. “I do.”
“Eden,” he protested.
“I need to get close. Just let me get closer to you.” She heard the need in her voice and winced. “Please, Asher?”
As if he knew exactly how much it took for her to ask, he whipped the shirt over his head. It ended up somewhere, she didn’t care where. Then she was lifted and gently lowered down onto the carpet, her head resting onto the makeshift pillow.
“I need to be close to you too, Eden. You, Eden York. No other woman would ever do.”
How does he know the right words to say?
Asher looked her right in the eyes, then slowly, ever so slowly, unbuttoned the first button of her blouse. He placed a kiss on the upper swell of her breast. “So beautiful.”
He trailed kisses upwards, until soon their lips met again, and she was lost in a maelstrom of heat, hunger, and passion. She tried to spread her legs wide so she could wrap them around Asher, but the skirt was too tight, so she had to suffice herself with squeezing his thigh. She pushed up against him, trying to ease her ache.
“Eden—” he started.
“I need more,” she sobbed. After hearing his story. After seeing this man’s soul, she needed him. It felt like the world was crashing in around them, and she wanted him! Was he going to make her beg?
“Shhhhh, I’m here.” He cupped her head tightly to his chest. She started to relax. It was like she could breathe. “It’s okay, Baby, I’ve got you. I won’t let you down.”

MY REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

A story of finding trust, both in yourself and others.

Asher Thorne has always had things easy, but after a devastating loss he’s reeling and trying to find trust in himself again. When a rescue attempt goes FUBAR from the first moment his SEAL team starts to touch down in Venezuela, Asher will have to find the man that he was before his loss. He’s still blaming himself for not seeing the signs and now that he has to be on full alert and ready to save lives, he will have to dig deep and keep his mind in the game if he wants to get home alive and save the lives of those he’s there to help.

Eden York is a woman that grew up on a farm with a father that served his country and is the town sheriff and brothers that have served their country too. She’s on a dangerous mission as a translator and finds herself in a situation that brings out the strength and control that she has always had. When she has to rely on others, she has to dig deep within herself to find the trust that the SEAL team there to rescue her and the others being targeted will get them all out and protect them. She has a hard time giving up that control and trusting anyone other than her family, but since they are not their she has to find a way to work with these SEALs.

This was a great story and the characters are strong and entertaining. I loved the story line. The story is full of action, suspense and danger. I have not read the first two books in the Night Storm series but will have to go back and read them now. The SEAL team is a brotherhood and the characters joke around and care about each other, but they also know when to be serious and fight together as well. They have each other’s backs and feel any loss like the loss of a family member. I enjoyed reading Asher and Eden’s story and look forward to reading more of the Night Storm series. I look forward to Lawson’s story. I give this story a 5-star review and recommend it to anyone that likes military romance of stories strong, sassy women that fight for their beliefs.

She huffs as she starts to walk past me toward the door, “What do you want from me Travis?”

“Everything.” I reply and watch as her eyes flash with fear and uncertainty.  “You have twenty minutes and I’m coming to look for you.”

She nods, “I’m not worth your time Travis, trust me. I’m broken and nothing is ever going to fix me. You’re better off just forgetting about me.” She drops that bombshell as she leaves, her voice small and I want to snatch her up and find out what broke her. Instead, I watch as she leaves, not once turning back.

“She’s got you tied up in knots. I’ve not seen you act that way ever brother.” Tank says walking into my office. “I get it, she’s sexy as fuck, her attitude is hotter than hell and I rekon she’ll ignite under you like the fourth of July. But she’s got a lot of baggage, did you see the scars?”

“What fucking scars?” I growl, I didn’t see any.

“She tried to hide them, but I saw them. Her thighs, her stomach, and I’m pretty sure she has some on her chest and back.” He explains, “They were silvery, she did a fuck of a good job trying to cover them up, especially with so much glitter, but I know scars and she’s got a lot and not just on the outside.”

“She told me she’s broken.” I confide in him.

He nods, “The good ones usually are. But they make it worth trying to fix them. You fix her, she’ll stay loyal by your side.”

“She’s too good for this life.”

He barks out a laugh, “Nah brother, she’s not, I think she’s just what you need. She’s yours, we can all see that. You’ve just gotta make sure she does.”

A knock at the door has both of us turning, it’s Savage, he’s got a shit eating grin on his face. “Um, Prez, your woman is about ready to kill the prospect.”

I groan, “What the fuck?” I say getting to my feet and prowling out to find out what the hell is going on.

I hear her voice before I see her. “Didn’t your mama ever teach you not to perv on people?”

I growl. “Yeah, he tried to watch as she got dressed. Don’t think he realized she’s yours. If he did, well then, he’s got a death wish,” Savage says with a grin.

My Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 3. 5 out of 5

An interesting story of two people from two completely different worlds that find themselves together. He’s the president of Angel’s Fury MC and she’s the sister of one of his strippers. He expects respect and cooperation from anyone that comes into contact with him and she’s a girl that has a tortured past, and she doesn’t take crud from anyone. She has no filter and is naïve about her sister’s life and the world she’s living in. Circumstances will bring Jemma and Travis together.

Jemma is a young girl that has been caring for her mother and is trying to get her older sister to come home to say goodbye to their mom. When she gets no response from Tara, she’ll search her out and put herself into an uncomfortable situation, but she’ll also find who she really is and that her strength goes deeper than she was aware of. It can also bring her out of the shell she’s been living in for year.

Travis is amused by the young girl at first, but when Jem disrespects him he wants to show her that he will not tolerate her mouth or her sassiness. He has no idea why the girl fascinates him, nor does he understand how deep his interests go until he sees her on the stage at Angel’s Titties. The fact that other men are looking at her while she is stripping has his blood boiling and he makes the move to claim her and keep her off the stage. He’ll have to figure out what’s going on and how he will keep his word that Tara will have her job when she returns without ruining his reputation. I give this story a 3.5-star review and look forward to more of Jemma’s and Travis’ story.
