Brix Ward is a Grade A prick.

Review of Riding Home: The Perished Riders MC by Nicola Jane

Riding Home (The Perished Riders MC - Prequel)Riding Home by Nicola Jane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Itโ€™s time to go home and take his rightful place.

Kilian Maverick was born to be the president of The Perished Riders, but he and his father couldnโ€™t see eye to eye on much, so he took the chance to go out on the road and live his life as he wanted, until the day he received a call to say his father was dead. Now heโ€™s headed home to deal with that and see what happened.

The club is in disarray and Maverick has to find out whatโ€™s been going on and how he can fix it. When heโ€™s voted in as the new president, heโ€™s not happy at first, but neither is his fatherโ€™s VP. I enjoyed this story of Maverick, it was a quick read and left me hanging on a few things, but they should be cleared up in reading Maverick. Iโ€™ll have to catch up on reading the series as soon as I can find time. I give this book a 4-star review. I enjoy Nicola Janeโ€™s stories and I love her characters.

Review of A Book To Die For by Jennifer S. Alderson โ€“ Included in A Bookworm of a Suspect Anthology

A Bookworm of a Suspect (A Cozy Mystery Tribe Anthology, #6)A Bookworm of a Suspect by Verena DeLuca
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Book to Die For by Jennifer S. Alderson

A cozy murder mystery that brought me back to my days of reading Agatha Christie Murder Mysteryโ€™s.

Camelia Festoon, also known as the Baroness, works with Carmen in the Rosewood Agency searching for and verifying missing antique objects. So when they get the opportunity to locate and verify a missing prayer book, they go to a mansion in Italy.

Carmen has been retired from the job for three years and is just starting to get back into it on this job with the Baroness. However, this job turns into more than either of them expected and now they have to solve a different kind of mystery, who murdered the host and took the five of the valuable historical prayer books?

I enjoyed this story, and the Baroness and Carmen are wonderful characters. Since I havenโ€™t read a cozy mystery in years, this story brought me back to my youth and it was fun guessing who the murderer was and why they did it. There were a few candidates, but in the end, they murderer was apprehended, and they mystery solved. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it. I give the story a 4-star review. This was my first reading of a Jennifer S. Alderson book, and I liked her writing style and her story telling.

Review of Renegade: (Special Edition): The Moonshine Task Force Series, Book 1 by Laramie Briscoe @LaramieBriscoe

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 5 out of 5

Pew pew!!

Oh My!!!

I read Renegade when it first came out, the original, and I loved it. Renegade was one of my favorites in the Moonshine Task Force Series. With the Special Edition, that hasnโ€™t changed. I love Whitney and her pearl grabbing personality and her love of Alabama football. Sheโ€™s a great character and add in Ryan โ€œRenegadeโ€ and you have a perfect match. Heโ€™s a man that will do anything to make Whitney happy and he loves her very deeply.

If youโ€™ve read the original Renegade, you will love this Special Edition. It has a great short story added, as well as the text messages. I loved the Thanksgiving debacle. These women are tough, sweet, southern, and the perfect match for the men they love. Ms. Briscoe does a great job writing the characters that fit together as well as their stories of finding, fighting for, and keeping that one person that makes them whole. I canโ€™t wait to read the remaining books in the Special Editions to come. I give Renegade: Special Edition a 5-star review.

Book 3 – The Splintered Hearts MC Series

Order here: https://mybook.to/TannerSH

What do you do when the one person youโ€™ve loved since you were seventeen years old breaks your heart?

Brook and Tanner have been a thing their entire adult lives and neither can live without the other. But when Tanner makes a terrible mistake, Brook decides itโ€™s time to live a life away from the club and away from Tanner.

His betrayal runs deep, and when the woman who caused it all reveals sheโ€™s giving Tanner the one thing Brook canโ€™t, it pushes Brook farther away. She surrounds herself with new friends, trying hard to move on from her husband and the club.

But itโ€™s not as easy as she thought, and she takes comfort in the fact that Tanner is hanging back in the shadows, watching her every move and refusing to give up on them.

Tanner doesnโ€™t remember the night he destroyed his life. The only evidence is the word of a woman who insists on hanging around the club, becoming a pain in his arse and a drain on his wallet.

He doesnโ€™t know how to be anyone other than Brookโ€™s husband, and every breath he takes without her is painful. He refuses to give up on the love of his life, but to get her back, he needs to work out what exactly happened that night, even if it means dragging up his painful past.

*To understand Brook and Tannerโ€™s journey, youโ€™ll need to read book two in the series โ€“ Kain.

Meet S. Cole

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. Iโ€™ve made some crazy choices. Iโ€™ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy.

Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero โ€“ all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.

Iโ€™ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and youโ€™ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I’m getting the chance to follow that dream.

MY REVIEW: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 4 out of 5

Clutch and Gwenโ€™s story is full of secrets, betrayal, danger, and strong characters.

Clutch has risen to VP because of a tragedy within the club. He is true to his club and would do anything for his President, and best friend. When the past comes back and danger lurks, Clutch has to make a tough decision and the only thing he knows for sure is that he will protect Gwen with everything he has, even it if means his last breath.

Gwen was taken from the Iron Outlaws MC when she was thirteen. She had no idea what was going on or why she and her mother had to leave. She felt as though she was being ripped in half because she was leaving her father and her twin, and best friend. Living under a new name, she and her mother left and were under protection, but no one really knows what the catalyst was for the night that changed everything. Or is there someone that does, and they are orchestrating the danger now?

I really liked this story. Clutch is a great character that is true to himself as well as his club, but when he learns who is behind the tragedy that has befallen his club and his best friend, heโ€™s afraid that he will lose everyone he cares about in the worst way possible, being voted out of his club. Gwen has nowhere to go after an attempt on her life and the successful attempt on her motherโ€™s life, but she believes that finding her father will be the best route. Little does she know that sheโ€™s walking into the viperโ€™s den and more danger. The book is action packed, and hard to put down. I loved it and I canโ€™t wait for the second book in the series to come out. I give this book a 4-star review.

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 4 out of 5 Review of Tanner: The Splintered Hearts MC Series, Book 3 by Nicola Jane

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 4 out of 5

Heโ€™s loved her since he was seventeen. Obsessed with her and would do anything for her. Why would he break her heart?

Tanner doesnโ€™t remember a lot about the night the changed everything in his life. He just remembers waking up and finding his two best friends and the woman that will ruin his life. He canโ€™t give up on the only woman heโ€™s ever loved, so heโ€™ll keep an eye on her, no matter if she lives at the club or not.

Brook has only ever loved Tanner and they had their life together. Now her life is in her own hands, and she will live it on her terms. Changing a lot about her, including the way she dresses and making new friends. When she decides to move on, will it be a mistake, or the best decision sheโ€™s made yet?

I really enjoyed this book, even though it was my first book in this series. I will go back and read books 1 & 2 though. Tanner and Brook have a lot of hurdles to jump over, and the club is behind them all the way, but Brook wants nothing to do with her old life. Tanner is at a loss as to what to do. Heโ€™s lost, hurting, and trying to stay above water. When he learns that his past is coming back to seek revenge, secrets are revealed, as well as betrayal. I loved the characters in this story, and I look forward to reading more of The Splintered Hearts MC books. I give this story a 4-star review.

Set the trap. Let people walk into it. Sheโ€™s walked into it, and now, I need to reel her in completely. Make her trust me. Learn what sheโ€™s hiding.

I pocket the phone again, opting to keep it until Iโ€™m satisfied, and turn back toward my waiting vehicle, walking over the two dead men on my way. By the time Iโ€™m in front of the driverโ€™s side door, I have one of The Elixir staff on the phone.

โ€œThereโ€™s something you need to deal with out here,โ€ is all I bark into the phone before hanging up and focusing on Della, who still stands on the sidewalk, a little dumbfounded. I know she wonโ€™t run because I have something of hers, and clearly, sheโ€™s scared at what Iโ€™ll learn about her, which means safety is now secondary from her perspective.

โ€œGet in.โ€

She looks around, her big eyes scanning the street before glancing toward the dead men. Debate rolls over her expression in the form of a downturned mouth before she side-steps them and walks toward the car, stopping on the passenger side. I watch her, brows lifting slowly as I silently command her to enter the vehicle.

โ€œDonโ€™t make me repeat myself. Men have died for less.โ€

โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t kill a woman.โ€

Some made men wonโ€™t because they view women as people too gentle to do harm, to be needing protection instead; that if they were to harm them, they have an unfair advantage. I donโ€™t think like that because itโ€™s sometimes women who are the nastiest of snakes. They use their gender as protection, knowing they can do anything and walk away unscathed. Women and men are equal in their ability to lie, steal, cheat, and betray, and for that, I will hurt a woman if the situation calls for it.

โ€œYou donโ€™t know what Iโ€™ll do, so if you value your life, get inside the car.โ€

She levels her gaze at the vehicle. โ€œFirst, my phone.โ€

My teeth grind together, annoyance working at my nerves. Itโ€™s like sheโ€™s completely forgotten the part about her being in my debt, not the other way around.

Gripping the top of my door, Iโ€™m seconds away from going around the car and throwing her ass in the back myself. โ€œYou are in no place to bargain, Della. Last time Iโ€™m repeating myself. Get in the fucking car or Iโ€™ll find you a place to sit, and I promise, you wonโ€™t enjoy it.โ€

The skin between her eyes furrows and her nose does this cute little flaring thing as the spark of fight is still lit inside her, but she finally obeys me and ducks inside the car.

Fucking Christ. I donโ€™t know what Iโ€™m getting into with this woman, but already, Iโ€™m exhausted trying to figure it out. I slip into the driverโ€™s seat and immediately start the car, suddenly eager to get back home and be alone with her.

In my peripheral vision, I watch how she squirms, pressing her legs together and moving her body as far away from me as possible, right up against the passenger door. Her head is angled away, watching as we drive down Sainte-Catherine Street.

She remains silent, wisely not asking for her cellphone again. I maneuver us quickly through the other vehicles on the road, managing to make it to the highway in record time, then up toward the Corsetti mansion.

As I pull off toward my house, I wonder how she made it there the first time. Mentally, I list the things Iโ€™ve learned about her, and what I actually know about her. Her name certainly isnโ€™t Anna, but if thatโ€™s what she went with, it means there was an Anna on the guest list. Did Della know and choose a name that would guarantee to get her inside or did the name end up on the list because she managed to get it there? Who was Anna supposed to be? Who brought her to my mansion, and why? Is this some giant ploy to get close to me and she created this whole persona to do just that? The girl I met last night avoided me at the party though, so why would she run off when she gained my attention? Or is that part of the game sheโ€™s conducting?

And why do I feel like Iโ€™m part of some malevolent plan? I design the games, no one else, and Della will learn this very soon.

I pull into the driveway, throwing the car into park, and leave it right in front of the house, rather than inside the multi-car garage we have. Iโ€™ll get someone to put it away later. Before exiting the car, I take her cell from my pocket and toss it onto her lap. The only use it has is gaining her submission, and now that weโ€™re at my house, her phone is meaningless.

โ€œNext time, donโ€™t leave it around a strangerโ€™s house.โ€

She grasps it eagerly, barely glancing at it before sliding it into her small purse. Strange, for someone to be so excited about their technology and not even give it the attention Iโ€™d assume she would have.

I get out of the car and by the time I make it to her side, sheโ€™s also opening the door. Finally learning the rules.

โ€œCome.โ€

Without looking at her, I enter the mansion, walking past the single soldier stationed by the door. Sheโ€™ll follow because she has nowhere else to go. I lead us down the hallways and toward my office.

At the doorway, I stand aside, letting her go first. She stops at the door and glances wearily at me, her brows dipping over her eyes.

โ€œHow do I know you wonโ€™t hurt me once we get in there?โ€

โ€œThat depends. Do you deserve to be hurt?โ€

Her lips press together and instead of responding, she enters my office. Her silence tells me everything though.

Sheโ€™s stacking up her falsities, but theyโ€™ll all come crashing down soon. Liars can only maintain deceit for so long before they crack. And Iโ€™ll be the one to make her crack. To shatter and spread those broken pieces.

Sheโ€™ll reveal everything before long.

My Review: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 5 out of 5

A story full of suspense, betrayal, a dark Alpha, and danger.

Della is a woman thrown into a world that is dangerous, unpredictable, and heart pounding. When sheโ€™s left to fend on her own in the house that her mother married into she has is like Cinderella fighting to stay alive and keep her sister protected and safe.

Nico is the second born son into the Corsetti family, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he is the heir apparent of the family and is now the Underboss to his father. He is a man that does things his own way and is not ready to settle down like his mother and father want him to do. When they set up a ball to have the eligible women that would be a good match for Nico, he finds a woman that holds his interest, but will she destroy him, or will she be the perfect match?

I really liked this action packed, fast paced story that was hard to put down. Thereโ€™s tragedy, betrayal, deception, and danger all wrapped into it. This was my first read of M. L. Philpitt, but I would love to go back and read her other books. Her writing style is one that I really like, and her characters are great. Della may not have been born into the mafia, but her time with her stepfather has taught her enough to survive. I give this book a 5-star review and I look forward to more in this series.

Whatโ€™s the price of survival?

Sawyer McKinney didnโ€™t want to come back. It wasnโ€™t like anyone wanted to see her ever again anyway.

But this was about life or death, and that meant there was only one place she could go.

If Jesse Hale never saw Sawyer again, it would be too soon. After all the devastation she left behind years ago, he canโ€™t imagine why sheโ€™d ever show her face again.

When Jesse learns that Sawyer needs personal protection, he has a choice to make. Either turn her away and never forgive himself if something happens to her or risk his heart and keep her safe.

Just as Jesse agrees to help her, Sawyer decides that the price is too high. Sheโ€™d rather be dead than be crushed by Jesseโ€™s combat boots again.

AUTHOR BIO

A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andreaโ€™s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, canโ€™t get enough of extreme sports.

My Review: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 5 out of 5

Jesse and Sawyer have a history, but when Sawyer returns to her hometown looking for Jesse and protection will their past prevent him from helping her?

Sawyer moved to Maryland and stayed away from her hometown for twelve years after a tragedy and bullying took place. She needed a fresh start and thought she was good with her choice and where she was, until she wasnโ€™t. Now with a threat hanging over her head and thoughts of her past problems, she runs back home to the one man that she knows can protect her and keep her safe, but will their history prevent that form happening?

Jesse is in a good place; he loves his job with Harper Security Ops, and he has great friends. He steers away from relationships because his heart has only belonged to one woman, but she left him and broke it twelve years ago. When he walks out of the office into the parking lot and sees that woman standing there looking at him, heโ€™s at a loss for words and the past hurt rears its ugly head. Will he let her walk away again, or will he figure out why she left and why she returned, will he protect her and keep her safe?

These stories keep getting better with each character and their soul mates. I love the suspense, the heat, and the characters in these stories. Crushed is no exception. Jesse and Sawyer have to work through the past and open up to each other if they want to move on, or if Jesse will be able to keep Sawyer safe. The story is tragic and haunting, but itโ€™s a great story. I laughed at parts, and I wanted to cry at parts, but ultimately, these two made me happy. I give the book a 5-star review and canโ€™t wait for the next one in the series.

Meet S.

I am represented by Beth Phelan at The Bent Agency, NY.
