He’s the twin without a heart, or is he?

Cillian and Cole Hendry didn’t have an easy childhood and neither one of them are the type for love and kindness. The owners of a popular night club, Asylum, businessmen of questionable dealings, Cole and Cillian are determined to get the First Minister to reverse her bill that will legalize drugs in Scotland. They have a plan in place to convince her that the bill is not a good idea, but what they don’t know is that she is just as determined as they are and maybe a bit more ruthless than them too.

Meisie Ford has returned to Edinburgh from South Africa, where she was living with her father. She finds herself in Asylum looking for someone that does not exist. Little does she know she has been set up and her life is about to be turned upside down, again.

This story is twisted, sad, and a bit dark. It is also entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if things could get any worse for Meisie than they were. They can but then Cillian is there to rescue her and protect her. Two unlikely people that find themselves falling for each other and finding a way for their worlds to combine and them to have a life together. They will have to deal with a lot to get to where they want to be, and their life together does not start out as a fairy tale love story, but it will end that way. I give this story a 4.5-star review and highly suggest it to readers who like twisted, dark, psychological thrillers, and stories where the Hero is an unlikely character. I really enjoyed the story and I look forward to more in the series to come.

A story that blew my mind! Quite the plot twist at the end.

Carly Montgomery is the wife of Maryland’s Attorney General, William Montgomery, who is running for the Governorship of Maryland. They have been together for thirteen years. He has never given her a reason to doubt him or think he is cheating until now. After all, politics is wrought with cheating, lying, corruption and deceit, what makes William any different? When she witnesses a close encounter of William and his assistant Olivia, Carly begins to think the worse of her husband. She will not stand by and be made a fool of.

Emma is a student at Georgetown University with three semesters remaining of her college career when she is hit with more despair in her life. The past year has been rough on Emma and her college education is hanging by a very thin thread. She has done her best, but she finds herself drowning and when an opportunity comes along that she at first is appalled by, she finds that she has no choice but to accept the offer to get her head above water. The only trouble is that she could find herself as an outcast should be found out.

This is the story of two women that have had to fight for everything they have. When things get tough for Carly, she turns to a friend and then to Emma to help her out. When things get tough for Emma, she refuses to ask for help and when Carly approaches her, she declines at first until she gets more bad news and decides to work with Carly. These two are heading down a path of destruction and danger, but neither one can see anything beyond what is in front of them. Emma is desperate and when things don’t work out the way she expects she will improvise; however, things are going to get out of hand.

This story is full of suspense, corruption, surprises, and some twisted characters. I wanted more when the story was finished, I have questions. I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it to readers who are interested in stories with intrigue, desperation, twists and turns. This story blew my mind at the end and I was looking for more to the story. Great Read!!

He gave his life for hers, but she didn’t remember him.

Vittorio Lupo Scarpone is the Pretty-Boy Prince, the oldest son of Arturo Lupo Scarpone, head of the Scarpone family, one of the five families of New York. He has one younger brother that he does not get along with. They share the same father but have different mothers. When Vittorio decides to protect a young girl, he puts his own life in jeopardy and his father has no problem using his own son as an example that you do not cross him. Vittorio reinvents himself with help from The Fausti Family, a family that no one crosses in New York., and now he is out for vengeance and retribution for what he went through that night in the alley. He is now a ghost and known as Mac Machiavello.

Mariposa has been in the system since she was ten years old and lost the only family she could remember. Now that she has aged out of the system, she is struggling to make rent, buy food, and wear decent clothes and shoes that fit. She is hungry, cold, and on her own for the most part. She finds herself standing in front of a fancy restaurant looking in dreaming about the steak when a man dressed very nicely gets out of a car that pulls up in front of the restaurant and she notices how everyone in the area stares at him and the man from the restaurant that just gave her a hard time about looking in the windows, falls over himself to greet the man that just arrived. She can’t help herself she is drawn to this man and can’t seem to forget him.

I really liked this story, it’s packed with action, secrets, betrayal, and vengeance. The characters are brutal, entertaining, and well written. Vittorio and Mariposa have a history, but they have not seen each other in years. That doesn’t lessen the draw they have to each other, nor does the age difference between them. Mac believes that he has no heart, but unbeknownst to him, a young girl stole his heart when he was a teen and never returned it. She still holds it after 18 years. They find each other again after Mariposa decides that she is done struggling to survive and wants to find a way to live and poses as someone else. I give this story a 5-star review and recommend it to readers that love to read mafia, vengeance, survivor, or suspense stories with a twist. I look forward to more of the Gangsters of New York.
