“Tell me something about you, Evie.” Evie’s gaze darted to Luca, then away. She
chewed her bottom lip, seemingly contemplating whether to tell him something or not.
“I like computers.” Luca’s brows shot up. It wasn’t a surprise, he’d suspected as much, but he thought she’d share something trivial, like a favorite color.
“Makes sense. You learned how to use the online system at work pretty quickly.” Evie’s eyes dropped to her feet at the compliment, but Luca saw a hint of a smile on her lips. “What do you spend most of your time doing on computers?”
Evie shrugged, looking uncomfortable for a moment. “Not much. Just some gaming
and things.”
Lie. Evie had just told Luca a lie. He could tell by her pupils dilating, her gaze darting away. There had also been a slight hitch in her heart rate. Why would she lie about that?
“Ever thought about studying IT?” Luca pushed.
There was another pause before Evie’s gaze dropped, and she continued, “No. I,
uh . . . it hadn’t really crossed my mind.”
Another lie. Interesting.
As Evie took another step, her foot caught on something, and Luca could see she was going to tumble down. Catching her arm with his lightning reflexes, Luca held
her body against his. Her skin was warm to touch where her shirt had risen slightly.
When Evie glanced up. Luca could smell vanilla and strawberries on her. She was all soft and delicate, where he was hard and not delicate. He had to fight the urge to
pull her head up and press his lips to hers.
“Go on a date with me.”
It was a statement, but Luca still needed a yes. Evie looked taken aback. Luca was a bit too. He hadn’t anticipated those words to leave his mouth, but now that they
had, they felt right. Knowing what kind of response he was going to receive
before she spoke the words, Luca patiently waited to rebut.
“I can’t.”
Wishing she would expand, he was disappointed when only silence followed.
Not willing to give up so easily, Luca lowered his head and placed his lips next to her

He felt the shiver run up her spine. Evie’s head turned, and her lips were a mere few
centimeters from his. Her warm breath touched his lips. If he just lowered his head a fraction, they would be touching.

My Review:

Pearl needed to get out from under her father’s finger and show that she could be a great tattoo artist on her own. She loves her father, but his criticism of her work breaks her heart. Little does she know that he really thinks she’s good but doesn’t know how to be any other way. His past still haunts him, and he tries to outrun it by drinking regularly. A Vietnam vet that was never treated for the PTSD that he surely has from his time fighting in the Vietnam war has made him the cranky old man he is. He loves Pearl and has fought to keep her safe most of her life. He’s kept secrets to do that will come to light and put more than Pearl’s life in danger.

Driller is the nephew of the President of the Dead Ringers MC. He grew up in the MC and has seen a lot of things over the years. He is protective of his MC brothers, but he is also keeping a secret from them because it involves blood family. His Uncle Stoney is the President of the MC, but his time serving in the Vietnam war has caught up with him as well. Another Vietnam vet that has not had the proper care for PTSD but also has other health problems. Driller doesn’t want to keep the secret about Uncle Stoney, but his father and the other older members of the MC need him to keep that secret for now because if things come to light too soon the MC could face some big problems.

When Driller and Pearl are reacquainted things heat up. Driller wants to protect her and keep her safe, but Pearl hold too many prejudices against the MC. One being the danger her father was in, but also things that happened in her past to make her warry around the MC members. They will eventually find their footing with each other things really get heated up when they do.

I loved this story and give it a 5-star review. I cannot wait for more books in the Dead Ringers MC books. If you are a fan of MC romance, suspense and intrigue stories, books with some twists and full of secrets that bring danger to everyone, then you will love this book. He shouldn’t want her, she’s too young and his dead best-friend’s daughter. The only problem is that he can’t help himself. He has the will to wait for her to turn 18, but that’s a struggle, especially when she won’t cooperate and keeps throwing herself at him. Reaper is the President of the Ruthless Kings MC and he’s in his 40’s. Not the ideal man for Sarah, but she will be his when she turns 18, and no one will stop him from claiming her on that day, no one!

She’s 17 and the little sister of Boomer, a young man who was raised by Reaper and the Ruthless Kings. Sarah grew up in foster care and showed up on the Ruthless Kings doorstep barely holding onto life. It took a while for Sarah and Boomer to get to know each other and become comfortable with each other after all the pain and torment that Sarah went through growing up, let alone the fact that they didn’t know each other. She’s fallen in love with Reaper and there is no stopping her when she is determined to have him. His hurtful comments and reactions to her are wearing her down though and she isn’t so sure she can hang around after she turns 18 if he really doesn’t want her. She’s strong willed, tenacious, determined and a survivor.

This story is full of dangerous men that are wrapped around a young girl’s finger. She has been looking for a family and finally found it in these men. No matter how ruthless they are, they will always protect her and give her what she wants. I love the scene where she is getting ready to leave for Prom as well as the dress shopping. “After an hour browsing the d**n racks for every single dress, they make their way back and Tongue is carrying most of the stuff. I can’t help but smile when I see how ridiculous all of us look. He is over six-feet-four carrying slender dresses, and we are dressed in mostly black, sitting on pink f*****g velvet”. “When did this become my life?” (Reaper, Chapter 4).

I give this book at 5-star review and look forward to more of the Ruthless Kings. I hope we get to read Tongue’s story along the way. I fell in love with him in this story and want to know more about him. If you like MC stories, or stories of rough and tough men who can be broken by one teenage girl, then you will love Reaper. This story had me laughing and crying but it was so worth it. I loved it!

A warm hand slid up and down my arm, comforting me, before holding my hand again.

“Are you with us, Paige?” My eyes opened to an EMT leaning over me.

“Yes.” It came out a raspy whisper.

My memory came rushing back.

“Where’s Ana?” Panicked, I tried to push my body up.

“Woah.” A gentle hand pressed me back to the gurney.

“You need to lie back and let us take care of you. We’ll be at the hospital soon.”

An uncomfortable squeezing was increasing against my bicep. The blood pressure monitor tightened as the air was pumped through.

“Ana,” I moaned.

“Your sister is gonna be alright,” warm breath whispered in my ear before giving my hand a small squeeze. His voice was soothing. It calmed the trauma that was running through my mind in waves.

She’s going to be alright.

I tried so hard to keep my eyes open. I needed to see his face. The man who saved me. Emerald eyes bore into mine with worry written across his fading face as the darkness took me back under.

“Paige, stay with me…”
