Sassy Sunday Update: January 21, 2018

Happy Sunday! It’s been a busy week for me. First week of classes starting back up for the Spring 2018 semester. I work at a University. I’m an Administrative Assistant for the Mechanical Engineering Department. What a week…On top of the students coming back, I started my final class for my College Degree. I am taking a Biology class; Human Anatomy and Physiology. It should be interesting since I am not a Science person. Give me a good book to read any day and I am happy, I can even write papers, but science and math, not so much. I am also not a fan of history, sorry to anyone who really likes these subjects, but they are just not my thing.

I was actually ahead of schedule on my review schedule this week, so after binge reading the New York Crime King Series last weekend, so that I could do an ARC review of Guts & Glass, by Skyla Madi, I read Scoundrels and Scotch, by Alta Hensley for an ARC review. In between reading my Biology text and doing a Bio lab, I started reading a book that was on my TBR list on my iPad. I read Daughter of Darkness: Jezebel, book 1, by Kristen Middleton. This is a book that is part of the Daughters of Darkness Series. Four authors each took a different daughter born from the Prince of Darkness, Vlad Montour. (Also known as Vlad the Impaler, an evil villain from history). The first book in the series is Blair, by Chrissy Peebles, I just started this one. The second is Jezebel, by Kristen Middleton, the third is Victoria, by W.J. May, and the fourth is Lotus, by C.J. Pinard.

The four girls are each half vampire, from their father, but they each have another half from their mother. Blair is half witch, Jezebel is half succubus, Victoria is full vampire, and Lotus is half faery. The girls each have a different mother, and their father, Vlad wants them dead so that he can harness all of their powers. After reading Jezebel’s first book, I bought the second to read. I then had to buy the Anthology, with the first story for each girl. These books are very well written and even though they are written by different authors, they did a great job of incorporating each sisters story into their story.

This week I read a total of twelve books, not including my biology text. I know that my reading will slow down a bit now that I am back in class, but I will read and review a few more books this month. I just wanted to read something without having to make a deadline, so I decided to read Daughters of Darkness, and I am very glad that I did. I’ve found them to be very entertaining and enjoyable to read. I am looking forward to reading all four sisters’ stories.

Have a great week, and if you are in the path of snow, stay warm and safe. Happy reading.
