A centuries old family curse is revealed in the worst way.

He just wants to share his favorite place with the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. He has no idea the trouble that will befall Jared and Harper’s weekend getaway. He has is all planned out, he’ll take her to his special place and show her the beauty of his family’s cabin and surrounding land.

She finds the whole build up to this weekend to be unusual and when they arrive at the cabin that has no address in the woods, she is unsettled by the changes in Jared. She was looking forward to getting away and spending a special weekend with Jared, but Harper is nervous and afraid of the things that are happening.

This was quite a story. It has curses, danger, twists and two people that changed by the happenings that take place in this off-grid place. Jared and Harper have an adventure that neither one of them were prepared for. When Jared comes back to himself and calls his father to ask for help, he finds out that there is a family secret that his father never took for truth and it could have ended in such a bad way, but luckily it turned out alright.

I give this story a 4-star review. I enjoyed it, but it was a wild read. The imagination of Ms. Faye is quite colorful and entertaining. I liked the characters and Harper was a true survivor of her circumstances. She is resourceful and strong. She showed that she learned a lot from Jared since they have been together, and she was able to even trick him for a period of time. It is a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and the pages burning to be turned.

He was accused, tried, and deemed a rapist of a Teammate that he considered a good friend and a little sister, while serving his country, then he received a dishonorable discharge (DD) because it couldn’t be proven that he was the rapist. Michael Parker was dealt a low blow by someone he trusted to have his back. He can’t find a decent job because of his DD so now he fights in the underground fights so he can make money. One encounter awhile back could change all of that, he could have a job with Reed Security, if he can find it in himself to fight for the truth and his redemption, with the help of Knight and Reed Security, and one woman who can take him down in a fight.

Blake is a woman who was raised in a family with four brothers that treated her like a little brother most of time rather than a little sister. Although, when she hasn’t been in contact for a week, they do begin to worry, and they will protect their little sister in anyway they can. Blake is an FBI agent that has received a file on a Senator that looks shady, when she brings it to her superior officer, he dismisses it and Blake finds herself fired from the FBI for telling her supervisor that she can’t let this go. Now she’s on the run from the FBI for stealing documents.

This story is filled with action, fighting, danger around every corner, and two people that are fighters but find themselves attracted to each other. They even fight their attraction for as long as they can. When Blake finds out about Parker’s history and his DD from the Marine Corps, her first instinct is to believe the accusations, but then when she confronts Parker about it and they talk, she knows in her heart that he couldn’t have done it. Parker just needs one person, besides his family, Blake to believe his innocence.

I really enjoy the Reed Security Series and Parker and Blake’s story did not disappoint. It did leave me wanting more though. I felt as if I did not finish the story. I can’t wait for GoodKnight to come out to read. The characters in the Reed Security Series are great. They are like one large family that argue, protect each other, and joke around with each other. They are funny, loyal, dangerous and protective.

She was used as a payment by her boss and then rescued by the FBI. Her boss, Kevin Vick gave Brandi to Saul Luciano in payment for a debt. She fought as long as she could to not be broken or destroyed, but they finally won. Brandi was a vibrant, fun, strong young woman, and a bit of a wild child until she was used by her boss for payment to a man who is ruthless, and his daughter is worse. Once Brandi is rescued and saved by the FBI, she and Slade, one of her rescuers go on the run to keep her alive and safe.

Slade is an FBI agent that helped to bring down sex slave operation and, in the process, rescued Brandi. She was broken and scared but she found some of her fire while they were on the run. Slade has a history of bad relationships and isn’t quite sure if that is part of the reason he has feelings for Brandi, is it that he wants to fix her, protect her, or are his feelings real?

I really enjoy reading Ms. Rhodes’ books. They are action packed, Alpha packed, and full of overall great characters. They are strong, kind, loyal, and entertaining. This book has some intense moments and some hard situations, but it is done very well. The characters are enjoyable to read, the action and suspense keeps the pages turning, and the characters keep my interest. I love the suspense of what’s going to happen, who is involved, who can be trusted and who can’t. I also love how Brandi regains her strength and independence, but she knows that Slade will always be there for her and she can count on him. I love this book, the characters and the series, and I look forward to more of the Bastards and Badges books and characters to come. I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it.

Deadly Scandals was originally published as the novellas Covet, Smug, and Slack. These books were 7, 8, & 9, in the Se7en Deadly SEALs serial.

Mia has to come to terms with her reality, but now she has to do it alone. Grant has been arrested for a crime that she knows he didn’t commit, but he confessed so that they can find Julian. Mia has to pretend to go along with Joaquin if she wants to save Grant and Julian, as well as keep herself alive to have the life she has dreamt about with Grant.

Grant is convinced that he and Mia will get Julian back if they just stick to the plan he has laid out. With Mitch and Ashley’s help, they’ll find Julian and put Joaquin behind bars for his crimes. The only problem is that Mia is going to take a lot of convincing that her brother is guilty of everything they’ve told her.

I have been enjoying the Se7en Deadly SEAL’s Series and Deadly Scandals has not disappointed. There is a lot going on in this story and a lot of character to follow, but the story is intriguing, entertaining, and angsty. Ashley and Mia have a lot of issues with each other as well as with their pasts. They bring a lot into the story and make me want to shake them both to say open your eyes and shut your mouth for a bit and you might find what you are looking for. They are similar in a lot of ways, but they are also each their own person. Their characters are strong, independent, and loyal. They are both determined to find the truth and are willing to go the extra mile as well as put themselves in danger to get what they are looking for. I give this story a 4-star review and look forward to more in this series. I am now as determined as Mia and Ashely to find out who is behind all of the turmoil the SEALs have been going through and why. The cliff hangers are brutal though, just when I think I’m going to find something out, the book ends. Great job keeping me guessing and wanting more Ms. Albertson.

Declan Moran (Terror) is the President of the Dublin Falls Archangels’ Warriors MC. He has never had a desire to settle down with one woman or take an ol’ lady. He’s happy with the way things are and his single status. After meeting the Princess of the Hunter’s Creek branch of the Archangels Warriors MC his thoughts have changed. She may be their princess, but she is far from a girly princess.

Harlow (Harley) is the daughter of Bull, the President of the Hunter’s Creek branch of the Archangels Warriors MC. She’s tall, sexy, strong, and sassy. Harlow was raised by her father and the brothers in the Hunter’s Creek MC, she’s an ex-Marine, and can handle a gun, knife, and herself in a fight. She won’t take any mouth from any of the guys and is not afraid to put them in their place when she sees something she doesn’t like or agree with.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters are great, and the story is full of action, danger, drama, and sexy bikers. The meeting between Harlow and the Dublin Falls Warriors is entertaining and a huge surprise to them. Terror is an Alpha male that has to adjust his thoughts and actions with Harlow if he wants to keep her in his life. He understands that she can take care of herself, but he also wants to protect her and keep her out of danger. When the worst happens to her Terror is beside himself and blames himself for not protecting her. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to reading the next books in the series. Ms. St. James is a new to me author and a fairly new author, and she contacted me to read her books for a review. Thank you for that Ms. St. James, as Terror’s Temptress was a great read and I can only imagine that Savage’s Princess and Steel and Hammer’s Hellcat will be just as entertaining and fun to read as well. If you like your MC to be more along the legal business side, Alpha protectors, and women who melt the hearts of the men that they catch, you will enjoy the Archangels Warriors MC. I love the covers too.

Tragedy struck and now they may never find their way back to each other. How can Dalton convince his wife that they are better and stronger together when she won’t talk to him or be near him. She blames herself and can’t see past her pain to let Dalton help her.

Dalton and Mandy had a tough start, but things were going well until tragedy struck. Now Dalton is afraid of losing his family, but more importantly, he’s afraid that Mandy won’t ever find her way back to him or her family

This story was short, tragic, tear inducing, and written so well. For the subject matter of this book, Ms. Briscoe did a great job of conveying the tragic events as well as the real heart break that Mandy and Dalton are facing. The family are trying to help Mandy cope with the tragedy, but she is shutting everyone out. Ms. Briscoe did a great job with the reality of how a family must cope with the loss of a loved one and the mental anguish that comes along with it at times. The struggle to ask for help, lean on others, or find our way out of the depression that can hit after a tragedy is so real and so heartbreaking. I loved Dalton’s story and I give it 5-star review. I recommend all of Ms. Briscoe’s Heaven Hill Short stories, but only after you’ve read the Heaven Hill Next Generation. If you like MC stories, you will love this series.

Review of Rise Again Warrior (Mission: Believe) by Stacy Eaton

Dr. Lauren Falcone works with military men and women that are struggling with life after returning home from their tours of duty to our country. She is a kind, gentle soul that has her own scars to bear and deal with. She’s struggled with leaving her home and being in crowds and has adjusted her career to be able to help others that struggle with these kinds of things. Since she meets with her clients remotely, she’s able to do her work wherever she is.

Staff Sgt. Shane Logan is recovering from an IED blast that took out his team fifteen months ago while returning from a raid. Not many from his team made it out of that ambush, he did, but with both physical and mental scars to show for it. He is dealing with his own issues as well as the issues of people who encounter him and don’t know how to act or what to say, so they stare at him and give him a wide birth or they look at him with pity, neither makes him feel any better about himself. With the confidence he gains, he shares his dream with his father about a new project he wants to bring to life, and his father uses this opportunity to get what he wants in return.

The story of two people who have lived through tragedy, but in different ways. They both suffer from survivors’ guilt and their struggles are real with their pain, mental anguish, and fears of what they have been through and their struggles to move on and find a new normal, a new life, and a reason to continue to live. These two need each other to find their way towards a life they can live rather than just move through the motions. They both have a lot to overcome and find it in themselves to reach for what they want and hold onto it.

This story is tragic, heartfelt, inspiring, and one of my favorite reads this year. It touched me in so many ways. It is so realistic and emotional, and written with a beautiful touch. Shane’s need for approval shows so much vulnerability and is so realistic. He needs that validation to help find himself again and Lauren gives him that and so much more. I give this story a 5-star review, if I could give it more, I would. I look forward to reading more of the Rise Again Warrior books in the near future. I love the characters and the plot of this story. It was beautifully written. This was my first read of Stacy Eaton, but it won’t be my last. I look forward to finding more books written by her and continuing the series of the Rise Again Warrior books.
