Review of “Crow (Boston Underworld Book 1)” by A. Zavarelli #TuesdayBookBlog

I loved Mack, Mackenzie Wilder, and found her to be a great character. She is an Irish girl who grew up in South Boston and survived life on the streets from the age of 13. She was tough and unafraid on the outside, but inside she was still that little girl who lost her father and then had to survive foster care and finally on her own. She’s a fighter just like her father and grandfather, but she does MMA fighting where they were boxers. She isn’t afraid to fight a man either.

Lachlan Crow is Irish Mafia and he’s the real thing. He immigrated to the US from Ireland at the age of 16 with his best friend Ronan. His grandfather was already in the states when Lachlan immigrated. He was just getting to know the man when tragedy struck. Lachlan was born into the mafia where as Ronan earned his way in and is very loyal to Lachlan.

Lachlan is trying to gain a higher spot in the syndicate and knows that he has to make sacrifices to get to where he wants to go.

Mack has her own agenda and when she tries to get the eye of the Irish mob, she figures it will be a low level soldier, not a high ranking made man like Lachlan.

I started listening to this on Audio and then I found that I had the book in Kindle as well, so I was going back and forth between Audio and my iPad. This book was too good to put down and I was listening while I was commuting to and from work and when I went on my noon walks at work. I was crushed when the book ended, but then I found that I had the next three books in the series to follow up the story. I have a huge TBR list and had forgotten I had these books, what a very pleasant surprise to find them. I loved this story and these characters. I love Ronan too and look forward to reading his story. I really think that the Audiobook of this really made the book so much better for me. Just hearing the Irish brogue made it great.

I give this story a 5 star review and am looking forward to reading more of the Boston Underworld Series. I highly suggest this book to anyone who likes Mafia Romance stories. Lachlan and Mack’s story is not a typical romance story and there are some pretty intense scenes in the book.

I liked how Trevor worked so hard to stay away from Natalie, but realized that it was futile. He was such a tool when Natalie first showed up to his door, but he was actually a great guy. He was just used to being the person that everyone relied on to take care of things. I really liked Alex too.

I liked this story and give it a 4-star review. I would love to read the story of Trevor finding out about Cage and Talia. I always enjoy reading stories by the Malone’s and look forward to more in the future. This was a quick ready, but enjoyable.

SYNOPSIS

Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, something extraordinary comes along that knocks you on your ass…

“Wolf”
I’m a simple man with simple values. You either love me or you hate me, but the ones who need me, always got me. I’m the self-proclaimed Wolf of the Satan’s Knights MC, the beast who will fight his way out of any dark alley to defend your honor. The brother you call upon when you’ve lost your faith in humanity.
However, secrets and lies are the cancer of a man’s soul. Exposed, they will eat away all that is good and leave nothing but destruction in their wake. They’ll prove the best intentions sometimes fail and leave you questioning your life’s choices.
Now, searching for a purpose, I find myself facing the ride of my existence with a woman just as jaded as me. As she fights the biggest battle of her life, I want to be the man who stands by her side. The man who ain’t afraid to ride the edge of misery because he knows there is something beautiful on the other side…

“Maria”
I’ve prevailed against the mob, a deadbeat ex-husband and the woes of being a single mother. While someone else may have wished for a different life, I believe I’m stronger for everything I’ve endured. I’m someone who speaks her mind and fights for what is right. A woman who will smack you upside the head with a frying pan and ask questions later.
Terrified of love, I’m an otherwise fearless woman.
Until a doctor solemnly diagnoses me and my strength falters.
Now as fear engulfs me, an unexpected man dressed in leather, holds out his hand.
As a woman who never needed anyone, I suddenly need him.
His assurance.
His strength.
His love.

My Review:
Thank you so much for writing this story! I loved every bit of it!! Such a well-written story of love, illness, family, loyalty, and most of all survival.

Wolf , a man who is loyal to his club, friends, and family. He is kind of a loner with his life. He is part of the MC, but he is always available for his club yet keeps his life to himself and doesn’t lean on anyone. After his son Nico is shot and he has been betrayed by his club, he feels more alone than he ever has. While waiting at the hospital to hear how Nico is doing and if he will live, he is consoled by Maria Bianci when she runs into him in the hospital with no idea why he’s there, and she is really confused as to why he is there alone. She is aware of how the MC is always with their family if they are going through a tough time because they were there for her and her daughter, Lauren, when Lauren was shot two years prior.

Maria Bianci, a woman who is in full control of her life and doesn’t need a man to lean on or help her with anything. She’s strong, independent, and a survivor. She is always available for her grown children and her grandchildren and will do anything for them.

Wolf and Maria are from different sides of the track, yet they have a lot in common and they are drawn to each other for some reason.

I absolutely loved this story, I cried, laughed, and I was drawn into Maria and Wolf’s story. Their story is a top read for me this year. These two will overcome so much in this story and will struggle with their conscience to find their HEA. I love this series, but Wolf is probably my favorite Satan’s Knight. I appreciate that the story is about a couple who are not in their twenties or thirties, but more mature and have lived a difficult life yet found a way to find love and forever.

I give this story a 5 star review and I look forward to the rest of Bulldog’s story.

An Unconventional Affair. Book 1 Email Indulgence

There was little time for anything else and she didn’t need anything else. For her, it was enough. But her life was about to be changed by a friend of Tee’s son at university, Barrington Stone, fifteen years her junior who is determined to woo her into an unconventional affair.

My Review:

An unconventional love story. A woman who has lived her life for her job, she recognizes that she is not mother material even though she has a son in college. She is a partner in a law firm and has raised her son on her own since he was very young. She has worked her way up in her law firm and has worked very hard to get to where she is today. On her 40th birthday, her son comes home to celebrate with her and the family. Unbeknownst to Tee, he brings a friend with him, and she finds herself attracted to the young man.

The story is very well written and is not about a woman who chases after a younger man, it is just the opposite actually. The younger man is the one who decides that the relationship is worth pursuing.

I really enjoyed this story but hated the ending. I need to know what’s going to happen and would love to read the next story now. The characters are well written and the story has a lot of body to it. I look forward to “An Unconventional Affair, Book 2”.

Review of “Dilemma: Steve Regan Undercover Cop Book Two”, by Stephen Bentley @rosieamber1

As a part of Rosie Ambers Review team, I chose to read this book and review it.

A story of a British undercover cop who is working with a team to take down organized crime, drug dealers, and sex slavery. Steve Regan is a man who has traveled around the world trying to take down criminals who are selling drugs and women and ends up in Taiwan running a bar.

I like the story and the characters. Steve Regan is a man who works all the time, is dedicated to his job and his team. He is afraid that his cover has been blown, but he’ll continue to do the job is has to do until he is told otherwise.

The writing of this story reminds me a bit of the TV show Dragnet from the 1960’s and 1970’s. It’s almost like a narrator is telling the story rather than the character in the story. I give the story a 3.5 star review. This is the second book in a series, but it is the first story I’ve read by the author. I hope to read more by him in the future.

ARC Review of “Cut” by Bry Ann @AuthorBryAnn

I fell in love with Cut in the Roses & Thorns series and was so happy to hear that Bry Ann would be writing his story. It’s heartbreaking, but so great. His proof that he will go to any length to protect the women in his life just shows his strength, loyalty, and character. I look forward to more of the characters stories in this series.

Cut

I am so in love with Cut, he’s such a tough guy on the outside, but a softie on the inside. He is a man who works with criminals because it’s the only place he feels accepted. Maria sees beneath the scars and the man that he really is underneath. She is such a strong woman, yet a bit crazy. I love her and am so glad that she and Cut found their way to each other. He’s a loyal man who will do anything for those who are in his small circle but when he has to betray one very important woman to protect Maria it almost destroys him. The trust of Lacey is not easy to come by and he had to betray her or Maria would not have been in his life any longer, or anyone’s for that matter.

Luckily, Lacey is a woman who knows that loyalty and character are two things that make a person worthy of being in her life and that Cut did what he thought was right at the moment, even though it took her awhile to come to terms with the betrayal.

The real Cut comes out in this story and made me love him even more. I give this story 5 shining stars (🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟) and would definitely give it more if I could. I love Bry Ann’s story telling and her ability to bring her characters to life in my living room or anywhere that I am reading her stories. I look forward to many more stories from her especially in this series.

Review of “The Good Sister”, by Rachael Stewart @rararesources @rach_b52

A young woman, Isla Evans, who wants to help her sister out ends up falling in love, but she can’t tell the man she loves that she is not who he thinks she is. Her sister is always in the spot light as is he, but Carrie, Isla’s twin sister needs to get away from everything to figure out her life.

Bradley King is Carrie’s boyfriend for all intense purposes, but they aren’t in love. It’s a relationship of convenience. He doesn’t know that Carrie has returned home to England and been replaced by her twin sister, Isla.

Isla had a crush on Bradley when she was a teen and he was an actor. She can’t believe that her twin would omit telling her that they were in a relationship when she asked her sister to come to Los Angelas to pretend to be her.

I loved this story and was really cheering for Bradley and Isla to get together. The start of their relationship is based on a lie, but if they really truly love each other and want to have a life together they have to make peace with that fact. This was my first read of Rachael Stewart’s books and I can honestly say it won’t be my last. I love her writing style as well as her story telling abilities and look forward to more stories by her. I really hope that she will write Carrie’s story so that I can read that one too.

I give this story a 5 star (🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟)review and highly recommend that you read it. I read this book as a part of Rachel’s Random Resources review team and received the book as an ARC in exchange of an honest review. I whole heartedly give this honest review of this book.

Review of “Don’t Trust Me”, by Jessica Lynch

A suspenseful story about a small town hidden away with little to no communication besides walkie talkies. The sherif and her deputies are not used to crime or murder, but they have to figure out who murdered the outsider that was stuck in town with his wife because of a storm and a flat tire.

I really liked this story and trying to work out who the murderer was. I thought it was pretty easy to figure out, but boy was I wrong! I loved the twists and suspense in this story and would love to read more about the small town of Hamlet and it’s residents.

The characters were so easy to read and like. They jumped off the page at me. The murderer was the last person I thought it would be and I really liked that. The fact that it was not easy or simple to figure out who was murdering outsiders or taking shots at people made the story so much better to read. I love a great mystery and crime story and this book really kept my interest and the pages turning.

I give this book a 5 star review and really look forward to reading more by Jessica Lynch and Hamlet.

My Review:

The Malone’s did a great job again in this story. I loved the way that the characters are so real, down to earth, and likable. Nana and Minx do a great job with their characters. I always like them and feel as if they are so real.

Talia and Cage are both ready for a new life and to move on from their pasts. The only difference is that they have a past together and their future is not supposed to entail them being together. Cage is Talia’s older brothers best friend and she should be off limits to him. Talia can’t get over the kiss Cage and her shared when she was 15 years old. Cage has always wanted Talia, but he knew that Travis, Talia’s older brother and Cage’s best friend would not like it. Travis has always been over protective of Talia and has asked Cage to keep an eye on her while she is at college where Cage attends.

Cage has no idea that Talia returns his feelings or that she has always harbored a crush on him. He wants Talia and he will not give up until she is his. He shouldn’t want another relationship since he just got out of a three year relationship with someone who always got what she wanted, no matter how she went about it. She’s spoiled and crazy, two very bad things to be combined in one person.

I liked this story and enjoyed the fact that the guy was the one who pursued the girl. Talia was determined that she was not going to go down that road again, but one kiss from Cage and that was thrown out the window.

I give this story a 4 star review. I wished that the story would have continued on with the story of Trevor finding out about his little sister and his best friend. Perhaps it will be in the next book, Wanton.  I always enjoy reading stories by the Malone’s and look forward to more in the future. This was a quick read, but it was packed with a story.

REVIEW OF “DISHONORED”, BY BETHANY-KRIS @bethanykris @IndieSagePR

DISHONORED Cover

Caesar and Aria are a time bomb waiting to go off. They both have issues that they carry with them at all times and they both generally get what they want, even if they have to be deceitful to get it. I love these two together, they are perfect together and bring out the best in each other. They can be a powerful team if they can get past their hurt and betrayal from the ones that should have loved them.

There are so many parts in this story that had me cheering these two on. I loved how they didn’t shy away from anything when they were after what they wanted. Their destructive ways and confidence is what really made these two characters for me. They each had their loyal friends and their confidants, but they were also loners. The fact that they were both survivors and fought so hard for their place in life made them special. There are some touchy subjects in this story, but the way they were written was great. The unspoken hurt from their past and the betrayal of those they thought should protect them and keep them safe made these two who they are and they are perfect.

I loved this story and really hope there is more to Caesar and Aria in the future. I would also like to read more about Cain and Nico. I think their loyalty and friendship to these characters really added to the story. I give this story a 4.5 star review and look forward to more stories from Bethany-Kris
