Former Navy SEAL Ollie O’Brien can’t deal with being sidelined and discharged. His military career was his greatest accomplishment. And now, he’s flailing and fumbling as he searches for purpose in a world that doesn’t seem to value him at all. And when his sister lands him a job in North Carolina, Ollie is reluctant to accept.

Veterinarian Paisley Smythe is in over her head. She needs help with her choices in life, and she’s striking out left and right. But when a friend reaches out with an idea, she meets the one man that could be the saving grace that she’s needed all along. However, the rugged, handsome, and broken man may need her more than she needs him.

As Paisley and Ollie work together caring for the animals and saving the clinic, something sparks between them. Ollie’s injuries force him to believe he’s not enough for Paisley. And Paisley’s past demons destroy her confidence in relationships. Can they both find a way to heal in one another’s arms?

**Readers, please note: This book was previously published in 2022 as Survivor: A Salvation Society Novel. Content has been modified. **

One former military hero. One wildlife lover. And the animals who saved them both.

Relatively new to the Blue Sky Sanctuary, Grey Nottingham is desperately trying to find his bearings in a world he knows nothing about. Still reeling from a mission that crashed and burned out of his control, Grey searches for solace in a safe haven that specializes in the struggles that former military heroes face. But when he encounters a beautiful, determined, and compassionate woman who will do anything to protect the Montana wildlife, Grey suddenly knows his purpose.

Abigale Styeeks loves nature–and after finishing college, she’s dedicated her life to defending innocent, protected wildlife–even if it means bringing danger to herself. When the gorgeous and tortured Grey Nottingham brings her tortured wolves, Abigale launches an all-out mission to save them. Despite her efforts, the ranchers will stop at nothing to destroy the wildlife that threatens their livelihoods. Now, battling the ranchers and saving the animals being hunted becomes Grey and Abigale’s new mission. Teaming up, the two find more than the answers to protect the endangered animals. Grey makes it his mission to protect Abigale and the wildlife from the vicious ranchers. But, will they end up rescuing Grey from his own personal demons?

My Ollie’s Recovery Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5

Such a great start to this new series. I’ve enjoyed reading about Ollie and Pixie since I’ve been reading the Devil’s Handmaidens MC and am so happy to get to read their story. It’s both heartbreaking and beautiful. There are so many that are struggling with mental illness from being in the service and this book really brings it out into the open.

Ollie and Pixie are on a great road to help so many that need it and I can’t wait to see how this goes for them and their “family”.

I love the characters that D.M. Earl writes as she truly brings out their character and their souls in her stories. I am excited to go on this trip with her and the characters of the Blue Sky Sanctuary.

My Grey’s Rescue Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5

Great story, but have the tissues on hand when you read this book. Like Ollie’s Recovery, this book hits on a variety of issues with veterans and their recovery. It’s a great read, but very emotional. Grey is fighting to be “normal” again after his time in the service, and Abigail is looking to help her mother and younger siblings heal, but they will all have to fight to keep the most vulnerable safe.

I loved this story and the characters are great! It was a beautiful story of finding what love means after such horrific encounters while serving our country. D.M. Earl brings her characters and her stories to life with her writing. She writes about tough situations, but she does it in a way that you are educated about the issue and yet are entertained by her story.

It not only brings out trust issues with humans, but animals as well. I love how she shows her characters vulnerabilities as well as their strength in her stories. I can’t wait to read more of her books in all of her series.

4 ⭐s for One Night Rendezvous: Belhaven Hotties Book 4 by Chasity Bowling & Laramie Briscoe

My Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5

Ashley and Ford are perfect together! Who doesn’t love a man that is willing to be a better man for those he loves? I loved the characters and the story and I look forward to reading more in the series.

Ashley’s trying to find her footing after having so much taken away from her and she’s now living in a trailer that is not very safe or clean. She’s just trying to live and survive the best she can. She’s not looking for or ready for a relationship, but it seems that they pop up when we least expect the. Or at least that’s what happens to Ashley.

Ford’s hasn’t had the best of luck in his life, but he’s trying his best to be a good man and a good dad. Life isn’t always easy and a lot of people struggle. Ford takes extra jobs to make ends meet and he keeps a nice place for him and his daughter so she can grow up feeling safe and loved.

Ford and Ashley have their own demons, but if they can just put those aside and find a way to make a life together, they might find the happiness they’re both looking for.

Blurb:

The first lesson my father ever taught me was that power is the only currency, loyalty is the law, and always take what you want.

When the Mayor of our city begs me to keep his precious daughter safe, I seize my chance to strengthen the DeLuca hold on the town.

I’ll keep her safe, but it’ll come at a price.

Mia Gordan, the sheltered heiress, must become my wife.

She’s a stranger to our brutal world.

A symbol.

A means to an end.

A strategic move, nothing more.

But as I draw her into my shadowed life, shielding her from the ghost of our fathers’ past, I realize she’s more than a pawn. Every defiant glare, every whispered challenge stirs something dark and hungry within me. She’s an enigma, a mystery wrapped in innocence and hidden depths.

Protecting Mia becomes more than duty; it’s a burning need. The deeper we dive into the lies that bind her family to mine, she becomes more than just my wife in name. Mia’s the unexpected light in my dark world.

But can love be our salvation in a life built on blood and deceit, or will buried secrets destroy it all?

Dario: Savage Bloodline is an interracial (BWWM), forced marriage, age-gap, mafia romance that is a gripping tale of love, loyalty, and survival in a world where nothing is as it seems.

My Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5

Both authors were new to me. I loved the story and the characters were great! Secrets are revealed, danger is lurking and lust turns into love in this story.

I loved Dario and Mia together. She’s been brought up to show her strength and always be aware of where she is and who she is around. Mia is the daughter of the town Mayor and is in need of being protected, so her father seeks help from Dario, but his payment for protecting her may be too high for the Mayor.

This was a great story and I look forward to reading more from this author duo. I kind of want to go back and read all of the books in the Savage Bloodline now, but my TBR is so long already…not sure I should add past ones right now, but I hope to read more in the future.

Honour a Hero weekend! June 28, 29, & 30, 2024 UK and USA

Honour a Hero weekend!

On the weekend of the 28th, 29th, and 30th of June, 2024, The Elizabeth’s Trusts are concentrating on a fundraiser solely aimed at raising funds for Phoenix Trust. For this weekend, we are asking you to donate £17.00 or $21.00 towards providing a Christmas parcel for a member of the armed forces or a retired Vet. Our mission is to raise money to send out parcels at Christmas when many feel isolated, alone, depressed and suicidal.

£17.00 will buy a Christmas box from Operation Christmas Box in the UK, which will be sent to a member of the armed forces currently serving. Christmas 2023, we raised money for 64 boxes to be delivered.

$21.00 will buy blankets, scarves and hats, travel mugs, and many other items for serving members of the armed forces and for veterans who may be homeless or struggling. This will be sent via VA Centres. We donated 130 presents last year to Steubenville, Ohio VA centre.

These men and women fight for our right to live freely and defend our countries. Many of our armed forces personnel don’t receive parcels from home in the UK and USA. By giving £17.00 or $21.00, we can help these brave souls understand they are not alone and are thought of and cared about. Getting a parcel when you expect nothing is a huge joy and comfort, and if we can help save one life, it is worth it. Can you show a hero that someone out there cares about and is thinking of them?

Please donate today at our GoFundMe. The link is https://www.gofundme.com/f/elizabeths-phoenix-trust. Help show someone they are not alone and that we are with them.

From USA Today bestselling author Misty Walker comes a gripping tale of forbidden romance within the dark underworld of motorcycle clubs.

As the priest for the Sons of Erebus, it’s my duty to guide people through their darkest moments. So when a battered and broken woman is abandoned at our clubhouse gates, I feel compelled to offer her solace.

Myla is beautiful, smart, and has a sharp tongue, yet I’m unexpectedly drawn to this woman who’s half my age with a past as tormented as my own. It’s how I recognize the burning rage in her eyes, threatening to consume her. Although she tries to push me away to hide her growing panic and pain, I sense that she’s close to reaching her breaking point.

My instincts are confirmed when a gut feeling wakes me in the middle of the night, telling me she needs help. What I find is beyond my worst nightmare. Myla’s covered in someone else’s blood, despondent, and begging for me to make her feel something other than the fury burning through her veins.

Our one night of raw passion not only exposes Myla’s darkest secrets, but mine too, and so our torrid affair begins. On nights when the weight of her sins threatens to crush her, she seeks comfort in my arms, and on those when my demons threaten to devour me whole, she’s there to banish them with a single touch.

It was inevitable that our sins would catch up with us, and I knew the risks of loving her could be catastrophic. Now I’m faced with an impossible decision: protect her by betraying her trust and risking everything—my honor, my loyalty, my whole world, or lose her forever.

The Eraser: Houlihan Men of Dublin, Book 1 by Brooke Summers The Eraser is here!! Are you ready?! A 5⭐️ Read!!

📖 Read today from your favorite retailer: https://geni.us/MODTheEraser

Tropes:

💌 Age Gap
💌 Tortured Heroine
💌 Dark Romance
💌 OTT Possessiveness
💌 Stalking

I’m a killer, I do it for fun, a way to quell the blood thirstiness that lives inside me.

No one has ever been able to penetrate the walls around my blackened heart.

Except her. Jessica Grace.

I met her at the lowest point in her life.

I saw the depths of despair that shone brightly in those blue eyes.

Begging for help, pleading for solace.

It was at that moment that I found the one.

My one.

But she’s too young, too innocent to be tainted by my darkness.

So I stay away until fate brings us back together.

Now, she’s hurt, and I’ll do anything to protect her.

No one touches what’s mine and lives to tell the tale.

I’m the Eraser.

Once I’m done with my prey, they simply cease to exist.

No traces of them are ever left behind.

Vengeance is all I crave.

I’m ready to start a war with the man who hurt my wife. Nothing will stop me.

I’ll do everything it takes to keep her safe.

My love. My wife. My everything.

My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

This was the book that I didn’t know I needed to read. While Brooke Summers books are usually dark, this one took it to a whole new level. After meeting Stephen in previous books and the Eraser as well, I knew that this could be a dark book, but I didn’t realize how dark it could get. Not that I’m complaining. It was a balance of dark, twisted, and sweet. Stephen gives a new level of touch her and die vibes.

Stephen meets Jessica on the roughest day of her life, but he finds himself drawn to her. He knows she’s too young and sweet for him, but he’ll only say away for as long as he can and then all bets are off. Especially when he finds her hurt. Now he’ll make those that hurt her pay for it and he’ll claim her as his and protect her forever.

I loved this story. As with all of the books I’ve read by Brooke Summer’s, the MFC is strong, beautiful and resilient. Jessica may not be as ruthless as some of the other women in the family, but she is strong and resilient and she’ll become stronger with Stephen by her side. I love the characters in Brooke Summers books and I can’t wait for more in this series or her others. Always a great read.

Guest Spotlight: Ellis Shuman – Author of Rakiya – Stories of Bulgaria – Published June 17, 2024

Ellis Shuman

Author of Rakiya – Stories of Bulgaria, (GenZ Publishing, June 2024)

In the twelve stories of Rakiya, you’ll meet a mother pickpocketing tourists in order to support her daughter. An elderly war veteran ashamed of his actions during the Holocaust. Two brothers hunting a killer bear. A Syrian refugee working in a Sofia bakery. A femme fatale disappearing at an international writers’ conference. And two neighbors competing to see who makes the best alcoholic drink.

My first book – The Virtual Kibbutz (2003)

My first book is set in Israel, which has been my home ever since my family and I left Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to Jerusalem when I was a teenager. I finished high school in Jerusalem, served 3 years in the Israeli army, and along with my wife, became a founding member of a kibbutz —a collective agricultural community—in Israel’s southern desert. My experiences on the kibbutz driving a tractor, harvesting tomatoes and onions, and milking cows were inspiration for the book.

Fast forward thirty years. My wife and I are living in a small community outside Jerusalem and our three children have grown into adults with lives of their own. One day, my boss at an online marketing firm in Tel Aviv informed me that my job is being relocated to Sofia, Bulgaria. My wife and I made an impulsive decision and went to live in Sofia for two years.

During our stay in Bulgaria, we fell in love with the country. We traveled extensively and learned about Bulgaria’s rich history and fascinating traditions. We made new friends but ultimately failed to learn Bulgarian.

Upon our return to Israel, I couldn’t stop thinking about Bulgaria. I quickly realized I could return to the country every single day, with my creative writing. My two suspense novels, Valley of Thracians (2013), The Burgas Affair (2015) are set in Bulgaria, and my new book is a collection of short stories told in the voices of native-born Bulgarians and foreigners visiting the country for the first time.

Why do you write so much about Bulgaria?

Most people know nothing about Bulgaria and would struggle to place it on a map. Since falling in love with the country, I’ve taken on a mission of introducing people to Bulgaria through my writing. In my stories, readers will hike to the top of the tallest mountain in the Balkans, travel on a tram through the streets of Sofia, hunt for a killer bear in the Rhodope Mountains, and get a virtual sip of Bulgaria’s signature alcoholic drink—rakiya.

How did you start writing? Who inspired you to write?

As a child, I looked up to my father, who was an editor at the local newspaper. Following in his footsteps, I launched a summertime newspaper in my neighborhood and along with my sister as co-editor, I knocked at neighbors’ doors and asked them if they had any news to share. Afterwards I would sell my mimeographed one-page newspaper for ten cents a copy.

In school my favorite subject was creative writing and whenever I had a chance I would write. Nothing from those childhood efforts have survived, nor has anything remained from my first attempt at writing a novel in my twenties. Other manuscripts have been lost over the years, either printed copies that were thrown out in the trash, or documents on old computers that will never see the light of day.

In addition to the novels I published and the Bulgaria short story collection, I have written many other short stories which have been published in a long list of literary magazines. One of my short stories was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. I also write travel articles and book reviews.

Tell me a bit about yourself and your writing style:

I am a very early riser. After I take my dog for a walk in the dark, I drive 20 minutes to a train station and catch the first train to Tel Aviv. I usually read on the train but sometimes I’ll take out my laptop to write. When I arrive in Tel Aviv, I don’t report directly to my office. Instead, I sit down with a cup of cappuccino at a coffee shop for another hour of writing. By the time I report to my office at about eight in the morning, I’ve already put in over an hour of writing.

I am most creative in the early morning hours. When I return home at the end of my workday, I am too tired to do anything creative. I nearly fall asleep in front of the television, take the dog for one late night walk, and that’s it for me.

My bio:
