Women use words like tender or romantic, but this is nothing of the sort. His mouth on mine feels like both punishment and violence, an assault against my innocence and retribution for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I inhale out of panic and instinct, his breath becoming mine.

I should be terrified. I should be plotting my escape or frozen in fear, but I’m neither. I’m not sure what I am when he pulls his mouth off mine.

We’re panting as we stare only inches away from each other, my skin prickles with the warmth of his breath.

He flexes his hand on my neck, and my pulse throbs. There’s something undeniably erotic about the way he touches me, and it takes me by surprise. How can a threat to my safety make my heart beat faster, my breath quicken, and heat rise on my cheeks?

“Tell me your name,” he says in a hoarse, ragged whisper. Is he affected like me, then?

No. No. I internally plead with him not to force the issue, not to make a big deal of this. I want to be his ally, not his enemy, but I might as well be a foolish wee girl who wishes herself away to castles and fairytales. There’s something in those deep brown eyes of his that tell me we have more in common than it may appear.

There’s a deep well of hurt in those eyes only someone who’s been wounded by the same blade can recognize.

“Your name, beautiful,” he says. If I could make a sound at all, I’d moan at the way his words affect me, as evocative as tender caress.

No one has ever called me beautiful. Why does it have to be him?

I look away from him, but only for a second because the next moment his fingers are at my chin and he’s dragging my gaze back to his.

He shakes his head slowly from side to side, his eyes on me never wavering. “Tell me,” he says, an unmistakable note of authority in his voice I’ve heard several times now. “I won’t allow you to defy me.”

I swallow hard.

I can’t tell you.

If I could, I would.

He shakes his head again. “Defying me is a mistake, lass. I won’t give you another warning. If you don’t tell me your name, you’ll be punished.”

At his words, the tempo of my heartbeat comes to a stuttering halt, and anything that resembled tenderness or hope quenches.

I’ve been punished before.

I’ll be punished again.

I should be afraid, but all I feel right now is a mild sense of curiosity as I steel myself for whatever will come. His words are already cold and distant, and he may as well be touching the body of another woman.

I’m not here anymore.

I’ve never been confined to the earth like a mortal anyway.

Ms. Knight has done it again! Another book that I could not put down and left me wanting so much more.

Cristiano Grigori has rescued Scarlett De La Cruz but has he really. She’s been rescued from the tower in the evil castle, but she’s still not free. Cristiano is out for redemption and the De La Cruz family is in his sights. He’s suffered enough in his life, now it’s his turn to get what he wants in life and if he doesn’t keep his head straight it could be the end.

Scarlett De La Cruz was raised in a family of violence, it doesn’t faze her in the least anymore, but she will ask for the safety of her younger brother when things turn bad for her. She’s had her own suffering in her life and now that things have circled back her life could be null and void. If she can survive the next phase of things to come, she may have a life left to live.

I really loved this story, it’s full of dark, dangerous men, action packed, and tragic. It’s a tragic story of family loss, betrayal and deception. Cristiano and Scarlett have both been betrayed by people that they should have been able to trust but find themselves in more danger when they are blindsided. Family should be reliable and trustworthy, but money and power are too blinding to some. I love the characters and the story. I can’t wait for the next book in the duet, I Thee Take. I love Natasha Knight’s writing. She writes stories that suck you in and hold you tight until the very end, leaving you with a book hangover, it happens to me every time I read one of her books. I give this story a 5-star review and suggest it to readers that are looking to get lost in another world for a bit, and if the blurb or my review don’t draw you in, just look at that cover!

Lace falls across my face. It’s yellowed over the years and the smell that clings to it is musty. Old. But it’s my mother’s. The one she wore on her wedding day.
Baby’s breath and discarded lilies litter the stone floor as the woman grumbles behind me. She’s annoyed at having to work with the old veil when a brand new, prettier one sits unused in its box. I move my foot, crush the delicate baby’s breath, impaling the fallen petal of a pale pink lily with my heel.
Funeral flowers for a wedding. An omen.
Not that I need one.
The stink of them turns my stomach. This isn’t how I imagined my wedding day.
“Finished,” the woman announces.
I stand, the petal sticking to my heel. I don’t care. I look up to meet my reflection in the mirror.
“He won’t like the veil,” she says. She’s a blur beside me.
I shift my gaze, letting my eyes focus on her. She’s plump and short and has a wart on the side of her face with a thick black hair growing out of it. Don’t judge a book by its cover has nothing on this one. She is as much a bitch inside as she looks on the outside.
“I guess he’ll have to get over it.”
“You should wear the one he sent.”
I don’t bother to answer her, although I agree. The veil was a gift from my brothers.
Gift.
No, not a gift.
Just another cruelty to make me wear my mother’s veil for this sham wedding.
She snorts, turns to gather up the dress, the keys jangling on her belt. I could take them. Overpower her. That part would be easy. It’s the men with the guns outside the door who’d be the problem.
Noisy footsteps on the hundred stairs announce the approach of soldiers to my tower room.
A tower. They locked me in a fucking tower. My own fucking brothers.
From the sound of things, they’re expecting me to put up a fight. They’ll take me kicking and screaming if I do. Besides, I know better than to waste my energy on them. I’ll need it after. For the wedding night.
A man says something, another one laughs, just before I hear a loud crash, like something smashing hard against the wall.
It’s then that it happens. Gunfire explodes just beyond my room. A bullet splinters its way through the thick wooden door and shatters the mirror, breaking my reflection into a thousand pieces, sending me backward into the stone wall.
The woman with the wart screams.
I right myself. Touching the back of my head with one hand, I somehow still manage to keep hold of the lilies. Suddenly, the door is kicked in, banging against the wall as heavily armed men in military fatigues raid my room. A cloud of smoke follows behind them, seeping into my circular tower.
They fan out, a dozen of them and I don’t recognize a single one. These aren’t my brothers’ men.
The woman is on the floor blubbering something, sobbing.
I just stare at the door as another set of footsteps approach, quieter now. This one isn’t in a hurry. And I know the instant he steps into my line of vision that he’s in charge.
He’s the one to worry about. The only one who’s masked.
He stops just inside the room, surveys it, eyeing every soldier, every stone, every cobweb. And when deep blue eyes land on me, a weight drops in my belly, a hundred-pound cement block.
The woman with the keys stands, tripping over her words as she walks toward him. He looks down at her like he’s irritated, and she doesn’t get far. An echo of bullets shuts her down, splattering blood like paint on my neck, my face. The shots put her back on the floor.
Fuck.
I don’t spare her a glance. I don’t need to, to know she’s dead.
The man’s eyes return to mine. They narrow. And when he takes a step toward me, I take one back, knocking the chair behind me to the floor, panicking then. Animated then.
I turn to run but see a dozen sets of eyes staring back at me. The masked intruder, the biggest of them all, blocks the only exit. I can’t even jump from the window. They’re barred. Suicide was never an option, not for my brothers. They needed me.
But something’s gone wrong.
And before I can decide what to do, before I can make up my mind to try to charge him, to risk bullets putting me down like they did the woman on the floor, he’s got my wrist in his right hand and he’s squeezing it.
My hand opens. Flowers scatter to the floor. I watch them, then watch him lift my hand to his face. His thumb comes to my ring finger where the hideous diamond catches the waning sun. For a moment I think he’s going to break my finger. But he twists and forces it off. It’s tight but he manages. He pockets the ring then shifts his gaze to mine again.
I swallow hard.
He cocks his head to the side, one hand still locked around my wrist. He spins me around.
I scream as he jerks me to him, his body a solid wall at my back.
He releases my wrist and bands his arm beneath my breasts. With the other, he pushes the veil off my neck, his hand rough against my skin, fingers digging, bruising. I think he’s going to snap my neck. One quick twist is all it would take. He’s a fucking giant.
But he doesn’t.
Instead, the moment I turn my face up to his, he squeezes and instantly, my knees give out. My arms drop uselessly to my sides. He shifts his grip and as I slip, he lifts me up, hauling me over his shoulder, turning the room upside down before it goes black.

Marcos Diego has been missing for over a year after trying to help Luciana Diaz find her way to her love. He sacrificed himself so she could find peace and safety. Now he’s fighting for his sanity and his life locked away in Mexico, by a drug cartel. His last hope to save his life is to get word to the US Embassy in Mexico that he is being held captive and a rescue mission put into effect to get him out.

Valentina Leon needs to find refuge or forfeit her life. The Camillo family is hunting her, and she has no way to escape her town or them, or so she thought. Maybe if she can hide in plain sight she can survive. One night of too much wine though and her secret is spilled. She thinks she’s safe, but not everyone is loyal. Money has a way of making people give up their values and morals.

I really liked this story. I’ve read the other books with Marcos and was so happy to have his story told. Marcos is an FBI agent that is loyal and protective. He’s afraid if he doesn’t get away from the Camillo family, he won’t have that chance, but a chance meeting gives him hope and then his world gets turned upside down. He has no idea what’s going on now. I love the connections that these characters always have with each other, the Savage Hell MC and the connection with Whiskey O’Brien and Anders Taylor, both FBI agents with Marcos have each other’s backs and are ready to help when needed. They have a great connection and comradery. For the Savage Hell MC to work with the FBI shows a loyalty for the MC brotherhood since Whiskey is one of them. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Savage Hell MC, RBMC, and the Lone Star Rangers.

We don’t speak. We just stare and the room charges with our sexual tension that tends to make others uncomfortable.

And then the experience with Tongue let me know that love isn’t a choice. We don’t choose love.
It’s decided for us.
Tongue is my fate. The one destiny wrote my life for. When I met him, my life made sense and found purpose.
My soul is linked to his. I know in my heart; I was born to die being loved by him.
If something happened to him, if fate took him away from me, I have no doubt that’s when my journey in this world would come to an end. I was created for his hands, for his heart, and for the wicked side of love people don’t like to experience.
Our love is blackened and burned by the trials of this world. No one can tell me different, but underneath the soot is a diamond. The gem is black, but it shines just as bright as one that isn’t tarnished.
When we die, cover me in our blood so I can become one with the love that’s made its home in the marrow of my bones after I decompose into nothing. But even then, I’ll be something, because I’ll have him embedded in my dust.
People might think they are above us because of how Tongue and I show love is beneath them, but they’re wrong. It’s in the black, in the void, in the places no one wants to go where the deepest, craziest, most intense love exists.

In this story we’re introduced to a new team, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it means that we will have even more books in this series. I give this book a 5-star review and I am looking forward to more in the series and I cannot wait for Wyatt’s book!
